  1. There would be pretty much nothing on the main forum without the articles. There isn't exactly much going on with the Brewers right now.
  2. Hopefully Rodgers doesn't steal from the poor.
  3. A lot has changed over the last couple of decades but agree that athletes still get multiple chances to get their redemption story. I have been here a long time and have criticized the Brewers for years for continuing to employ K-Rod and inviting him back for his Walk of Fame ceremony that for some reason ended up not happening. However, it would not surprise me in the least if the Brewers went after Bauer. As Noted, they seeked out Matt Bush just last summer.
  4. I don't think it is fair to classify Mancini as a guy with reverse splits. Yes, he was bad against lefties last year but over his career he has hit them well and was pretty even between lefties and righties. To me that shows he is an everyday player and maybe he doesn't fit on this team with Tellez and Winker on the roster. I don't think his talents would be fully utilized if mainly a platoon guy. Not convinced either Winker or Mancini should be playing OF.
  5. The Mariners said that but then they traded him. There is a risk with counting on Winker to be the every day DH but considering the potential I think it is worth it, certainly not a sure thing though. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him on the IL more than he is active.
  6. He would be a useful player if he could hit lefties because he then could play 1B/DH/2b platoon but there isn't much evidence he can do so at the major league level. As it stands now Tellez, Winker maybe even Turang could hit better than him against lefties so not a lot of reason to have him on the roster. If the team and Hiura think it is fixable that is great but doesn't seem like a good plan to count on that.
  7. I think that is a good point that just because a guy starts the year in the majors it doesn't"t mean they will make it the whole year. Khris Davis was one that made the opening roster, didn't do well, was sent to the minors and then came back in the summer and was the Brewers best hitter. However, to your second point if a player is doing really well it is a double edge because they may get a pick but they may regret losing the player a year early. Maybe seeing all of these contracts given out the Brewers may be willing to offer long term contract earlier to these young players and the extra year doesn't mean much. Will be interesting how it plays out and what their strategy is.
  8. They still need another right handed bat so yes he would fit but the Brewers are not going to take him on at that salary.
  9. Didn't read all six pages from the original signing but as a whole it seems most agreed it was too much and wouldn't end well, though it was tough seeing some of the free agents leave. Pretty good comments in hindsight.
  10. Agreed, Myers would be a good fit for the team, obviously not at the $20 million Myers was previously earning. The Brewers need quality hitters against left handed pitching and Myers can fill in there at DH/1B/OF. Taylor can also be one of those key guys against left handed pitching even though he was somewhat of a disappointment in that regards during 2022. Maybe they can have a wait and see approach and get somebody like Myers at the trade deadline, but they needed that last trade deadline as well and couldn't acquire that type of player.
  11. I received free tickets from work for tonight's game last week when nobody wanted to go because it looked like it would be around 5 degrees. Has warmed up since then and looking forward to going. Honestly don't think the Rams put up much fight and the Packers win fairly easy. Have been down on the Packers all season but always fun to go to a game at Lambeau.
  12. It has been mentioned by other posters but getting rid of Wong indicates nothing regarding their willingness to pay because they ended up with Winker and paying part of Wong's salary. Certainly could make a case regarding Renfroe but in my opinion they will still spend that money. Time will tell.
  13. If they acquire somebody else better that could happen but don't see it with those two guys. The Brewers are trying to win.
  14. Good on Omar to improve defensively since his arrival here as his offense was pretty bad the last season and a half. Can't imagine it ending well in New York but at least he cashed in.
  15. Good to see Max Lazar turning things around. Was never able to bounce back from that COVID season that derailed his development, hopefully his time in Australia is a sign of things to come in 2023.
  16. The Brewers are below last year's payroll and are trying to win. They may not spend the money how we all want them to but no reason to believe they won't get a free agent or two still.
  17. Hopefully Mario can sneak through, be outrighted to the minors and have a good season in Nashville without worrying about using his final option. Can't say I know much about this Miller guy except he had that hot start batting over 400 with an OPS north of 1 for the month of April and then a 500 OPS guy the rest of the way.
  18. They could really use another right handed bat that can hit lefties as 1B/weak side of the DH platoon/backup OF. Wil Myers, Adam Duvall and Justin Turner should all be targets. We shall see if any are in the Brewers price range.
  19. Think it is time to move on from Narvaez, he had a great first half 2021 but pretty bad offensively since then.
  20. Nothing official but I wouldn't count on it. A lot of things would already be in place if it was being planned.
  21. Hopefully Rodgers performs well down the stretch and the Packers can get something decent for him but not real hopeful considering all of the cold weather games. Unfortunate they gave him that extension prior to the season, it better not prevent them from dumping him.
  22. It opened in March 2020 when COVID started so was destined to fail.
  23. Maybe the Brewers have discussed Murphy with the Athletics and Ruiz was in those discussion. A deal couldn't be worked out so asked the Braves to send something to Milwaukee to get Ruiz.
  24. A nice thing about this trade is it doesn't increase the payroll. Can still add.
