  1. Not real excited about a Brewers Opening Day in Chicago on March 30th but I guess I'll take that over a home opener against the Cubs.
  2. No reason to give Perdomo a guaranteed contract when can go with guys like Cousins/Topa/Strz/Uribe/Sanchez and option back and forth. Dump Suter and sign a decent lefty. Actually think they may prefer Gott over Boxberger at this point as it sure looks like Boxberger is on the decline. May have to just eat the 750K, would still be cheaper to keep Gott or another option guy over Box. Don't think they keep both Box and Gott though either way.

  4. Of course it does. They get judged on results, he will look like a genius if they turn into all stars. If the players end up being nothing the trade will be a black mark on Stearns forever. It's the reality of the business whether you like it or not.
  5. That is where the top prospect comes into play. There isn't a lot of motivation to trade except he will be getting paid about $4 million to be a backup. If the Blue Jays are not offered something good there is no need for them to trade him. Also no comparison defensively between Jansen and Narvaez when he was a Mariner.
  6. On this team I think a guy like Renfroe is a good player to have, don't necessarily want every player to have the same strengths. Renfroe can provide power when some of the better projected on base guys get on in front of him. He is a right handed hitter that actually can hit lefties, which has been a weakness of the Brewers the last couple of year and may not get better if left handed hitters Mitchell/Frelick get more at bats next season. Do agree they have a lot of guys making 2-4 million and that is going to happen when they have so many in arbitration. Need to jettison some of them through DFA or trade.
  7. Good idea for something to do during the off season. Any way to make sure all 26 spots are filled to get a more accurate budget. Maybe if not filled out auto add another .7. Seeing a lot of 20 man rosters.
  8. Milner was pretty bad the second half of the year and was one of many that underperformed during their cold streaks in the second half. I know there was some analysis early on indicating he wasn't throwing strikes which is why hitters were not effective against him, wonder if they were more patient after those initial couple of months. Will be interesting to see how he does next year.

  10. Would non tender Suter, Caratini, Perdomo, Gustave.
  11. I don't think Turang is a starter. Predict they sign Drury at 3B, Urias at 2B and have Turang as super sub. He plays a lot still because 2B, SS and 3B are right handed.
  12. Christian Yelich is still good enough to be a full time starter, he is just vastly overpaid. He is a 3 WAR player offensively but negative defensively. Certainly would prefer him over McCutchen at DH.
  13. In regards to catcher I imagine the Braves will be looking to dump Manny Pina and willing to eat salary since they have d'Arnaud and Contreras. Wouldn't mind him as backup over Caratini/Severino. Still need a starter. The previously mention Jansen from the Blue Jays would be a nice pickup but there will be plenty of others teams looking at him if the Blue Jays are looking to deal him. Would likely take one of the Brewers OF prospects as a starting point.
  14. Yelich at 99 runs and Adames at 98 RBI, how about a 2 run HR by Adames in the first.
  15. I wouldn't mind Frelick in left, Mitchell/Taylor in CF, Renfroe in RF and Yelich playing the McCutchen role as DH and sometimes OF.
  16. With the season almost over I actually think the articles can generate discussion. Just stay away from fact based transaction articles. If they make a move and there is opinion and analysis involved great but stay away from an article about Pablo Reyes being DFA a couple days after the fact.
  17. What you are saying makes complete sense but Renfroe's numbers are pretty much exactly the same as last year. The Red Sox got a couple of prospects and a bad contract in Bradley in return. We may think the Brewers should get something decent in return but based on what happened last year probably not, especially since he will be even more expensive. I hope they keep him.
  18. I went to the game tonight as I read the fine print that tickets are free on Fan Appreciation Night. Not standing room either, Loge outfield. Got six free tickets for next year as well. Things were looking good and really didn't think the Marlins would score, oh well. Also surprised how empty the stadium was for a Saturday Night, only 30,000 announced but way less than that.
  19. Falter sure lived up to his name the last time he pitched, hopefully it carries over to today.
  20. The Nats have incentive to win then so they can start the offseason
  21. It was must win if you feel the Phillies finish 7-2 or better. My guess is the Phillies finish 6-3 so it is must win here on our for the Brewers in my opinion
  22. Would certainly choose Adames over Woodruff, age 29 vs 32. Have discussed Woodruff/Burnes but not Lauer. If say he signed a 4 year contract this off season it would cover two free agent years and take him through 31. Prefer Lauer extension over Woodruff as well. Peralta/Ashby/Lauer/Gasser is okay and should get a decent SP prospect or two when they trade Burnes/Woodruff. Small could still be an okay 4/5 as well.
  23. I would probably change my mind at this point and add Cam Devanney. Every team could use an infielder that goes up and down during the year and Pablo Reyes can't be that anymore so maybe Devanney can be that person. Turang could play that role as well but thinking they would want him to play on a regular basis and not be the shuttle guy.
