  1. Tonight was Erceg's best pitching performance of his career. It is easy to be down on him but in many ways just being thrown into AA to pitch for the first time in your professional career and do what he has done is fairly impressive. One more year for the Brewers to see if he can potentially help the big league team in the bullpen before he become a minor league free agent.
  2. I agree on Howell, doubt anybody else is protected and if somebody wants to pick one of these other guys up then best of luck to the player. Like last year there is 40 man room but it fills up during the season so would rather not add these fringe guys and then DFA them later next season. I do believe somebody would take a chance on Barker.
  3. Jace is also arbitration eligible so likely to be back.
  4. Corey Ray time? He suffered a leg injury a couple of days ago and hasn't played since.
  5. Just like when the move happened it was a rare instance of roster mismanagement by Stearns. It doesn't mean he needs to be fired, mistakes happen, whatever. Easily could have had Lauer start instead of Godley or put File on the 60 day IL like they did a few days after this and just optioned Bickford. But that didn't happen and they lost a potential useful piece of the bullpen. Great for Bickford, a couple of months later Stearns calls up a nobody in Jake Cousins and he doesn't give up a run all year.
  6. I would much rather for sure play the NL East winner than potentially the Dodgers in the Brewers first round of the playoffs. Doesn't really matter because the Brewers players themselves won't fold or settle for #2 but yes it is very clear to me that I want the Brewers to finish #2.
  7. Would have to think Williams is off limits today pitching 4 out of the last 5. Hader has pitched three in a row only once this season, back in June.
  8. It's all individual preference but not ever seeing a Milwaukee Championship Game 6 had the biggest high. I have seen plenty of games where it didn't look like my team would win but they pulled it out. However never had that feeling of the team I rally care and follow win a championship and it was because our team had the superstar that took it up another notch and would not lose. I know the Packers are #1 in the state but they have always been a distant third for me and it didn't feel the same.
  9. I would think Spider Track is the least if his worries right now
  10. They had a 3 game lead at this point in 2014 and already had a 9-16 July, the wheels were already falling off. 5 games is a big difference.
  11. I don't think it always come down to the best, sometimes it is about options and depth. My guess is they would option Sanchez and Gustave before getting rid of Norris.
  12. Ultimately it probably doesn't matter too much as Vogelbach wouldn't make a 26 man playoff roster unless Tellez is hurt. Even if Tellez gets hurt they are in pretty good shape starting wise with Urias at third and Escobar at 1B.
  13. The alternative to Norris would be Perdomo/Milner. Do you think they are better options? Certainly Norris hasn't had a good first few outings by any stretch, but shouldn't call for a DFA unless you are convinced one of those guys is better. I think we give Norris a few more chances before we cut ties. And he'll actually probably be easier to hide in the back of the bullpen once September rolls around if he doesn't figure it out before then. Regardless, this is a bit of a miss for Stearns at this point clearly unless something drastically changes. The alternative for the playoffs would probably be Ashby.
  14. But if that happens, Taylor won't be eligible for the post-season roster - correct? That used to be the rule - but not sure if there are exceptions now. No, I don't believe that has ever been the rule, certainly not now. Just needs to be in the Brewers system.
  15. good for him, gets to play on another playoff contender. Not too much a surprise he was claimed since this is pretty much the only way teams can pick up major league caliber players with the trade deadline so early.
  16. According to the Brewers he "has been returned from rehab", not exactly sure what that means though. Still on the IL.
  17. I wonder if they wait it out much longer with Garcia or just put him on the IL.
  18. Will Sammon also indicating Shaw is going through the waiver process.
  19. I'm not sure why we would have to wait for a Milwaukee writer to confirm. This is Peter Gammons, Shaw is no longer a Brewer.
  20. The weak point of this team was SS and 1B and he improved it so would give A. Would have been nice to get better relievers but they already had good/great pitching so being able to obtain Adames/Escobar/Tellez puts them in position for a championship.
  21. Brew4U mentioned in the major league forum that he wished the Brewers had Escobar on a Wong type deal. I do wonder if the Brewers would consider trading Wong in order to relieve some salary to use at 3B for Escobar or somebody else and playing Urias at 2b which is probably his best position and where he is most valuable. With the way Urias is playing he also has significant trade value at this point.
  22. Couldn't really ask for a better game than they got in the Field of Dreams game. Lots of home runs into the corn which was kind of fun. It was a National FOX game and did see quite a number of non baseball friends/family mention it. It worked, but imagine the novelty wears off in subsequent games. Glad they didn't destroy the previous field from the movie to play the game. Didn't really understand why they stayed on Costner for so long as that was kind of awkward but again the players coming from the cornfield was a nice touch.
  23. Once Hader gets back it will be in great shape, Topa should be a solid addition.
  24. A number of transactions but didn't say anything about Ashby. Not on Brewers active roster on their site so I guess he was sent back down? Glad to see Topa back, unfortunate about Curtiss and Perdomo. A number of times where it looked like the Brewers would get closer to full strength and there always seems to be somebody new put on the IL.
  25. It was discussed in a previous thread but Adames would be the first target for me. Right now free agent at 28, would be great to get a couple of team options at 29 or 30. Adames might be open to it since he has never really made anything beyond league minimum up to this point.
