  1. That approach is likely to be more successful when you have a roster full of major league players to plug in when you give someone a day off, and several productive hitters in your everyday lineup. This team has neither of those things. It’s tough when your pitchers have to shut down one of the best scoring teams in the league just to have a chance and, as we saw last night, even that may not be good enough. Agreed. This is a bummer of a lineup. Will stink to get swept by the Reds as they are surging.
  2. Big game today to avoid getting swept. Hopefully Peralta pitches a good game and the offense can show up.
  3. Challenging Schoop for the Former Brewer Curse Award. At least Gamel wasn’t worthless like Schoop was when he was on the Brewers. That’s what makes Schoop’s dominance of us more infuriating.
  4. Yup, it was... I just thought it was funny when he was yelling at the guy who got the original ball. It was comical. How do you know they were Reds staff? They looked like they were 14. And the girl behind him had a skimpy shirt on. I guess I’m out of touch with the young-ins.
  5. It looks as good as a line drive in the scorebooks! Put the bat on the ball, you’ll never know what’ll happen. So, are you saying that he’s the kind of hitter you want in the 6 spot on a regular basis? I doubt it. Nope… I wish he wasn’t on the team. But he put the bat on the ball in that at-bat (instead of striking out like most players do these days) and it resulted in two runs.
  6. Yep, he didn’t bend over far enough to pick it up. Probably couldn’t. Then a young Reds fan gave him a ball… and he took it from a kid?!? WTH
  7. Yeah, he really drilled that one. It looks as good as a line drive in the scorebooks! Put the bat on the ball, you’ll never know what’ll happen.
  8. Didn’t take long with nothing hit too hard to give the Reds the lead.
  9. While Shaw has been struggling he still has been coming through in the clutch to drive in runs. I don’t see the Robertson/Peterson platoon being as clutch. Shaw also has been solid on defense. Shaw had 19 RBI in April, and has 9 RBI in May and June combined. He's at a -.04 WAR, and no amount of clutch is going to overcome that amount of bad hitting. I guess it just seemed like he was driving in more runs than that, or at least the runs he was driving in were important for wins in those games so they stood out. I still think you are going to get less out of that platoon somehow.
  10. My guess is your Daniel Robertson/Jace Peterson platoon is about just as productive as Shaw has been. While Shaw has been struggling he still has been coming through in the clutch to drive in runs. I don’t see the Robertson/Peterson platoon being as clutch. Shaw also has been solid on defense.
  11. Our weakest positions (1st and 3rd) keep getting weaker. Sigh.
  12. I think Houser should have gone to 2nd on that bunt. Maybe they’d even have gotten a double play.
  13. Yes, they were after the 100% capacity date of 6/25. I went on StubHub on a PC and noticed that if I choose the “manually enter the barcode” option, it makes you select a day and the last available date to choose is 6/24. I’m guessing it’s a timing issue and the ticket information hasn’t been transmitted to StubHub yet.
  14. This post sums up my thoughts on this exactly (even though I previously said 100% Cubs, but these percentages are really more accurate)
  15. The White Sox and Twins? The Brewers have been in the NL for 25 years. Other than the allure of playing “local” AL teams, there’s about a 0% rivalry here, at least compared to the Cardinals and Cubs. The Brewers and White Sox rivalry was real. Joey Albert Belle giving Fernando Vina a forearm shiver coming into 2nd base breaking Vina’s nose type of real. The Brewers really don’t have that type of true rival now because those things have to go both ways; where there is some extra energy when the teams play each other which in turn juices up the fans. The Brewers had rivalries with the Sox and Twins. When they moved to the NL in ‘98 they were a joke for the first decade in the Senior Circuit. It’s hard to create a rivalry when one team isn’t competitive. The Brewers still don’t have that type of rivalry like they did in the late 80’s and 90’s with the Sox Yes, I’m not saying they weren’t the rivals when the Brewers were in the AL. But in the last 25 years that rivalry has diminished significantly. Ad the allure of only playing the White Sox every few years at home, and the experience is more “neat” than what I consider rivalry. As for the Twins, I probably cut that rivalry a bit short. I don’t have any ties to the western part of the state, so to me there is no rivalry there anymore.
