  1. I thought I read a quote that said the Big Ten wishes to expand into states that already border current Big Ten states. That puts Texas out of the equation. Like most of you, I've heard Pitt, Rutgers, Louisville, and Missouri. Of those 4, I'd choose Louisville. Can we kick out Northwestern and take both Louisville and Pitt? EDIT: After reading some articles, perhaps I am mistaken about the Big Ten only wanting to expand into states that border a current Big Ten state. I also forgot to mention Syracuse, which is another school rumored to join the Big Ten.
  2. I ending up using TaxAct this year. A few of the questions wording was a little confusing, but other than that it was just as easy as Turbo Tax, and cost me about 1/3rd as much.
  3. I'm going up too. If you search Hotwire.com for the weekend the Brewers are in town, you will find some ridiculously cheap hotel rates in downtown Minneapolis. Last year I paid $49 a night for a 4 star downtown hotel and the Metrodome was within walking distance so I didn't have to pay for parking at the stadium. After the game, a buddy and I walked around downtown Minneapolis and popped into a couple of random bars/clubs. There were people out all over and the club scene was crazy. I wanted to get into First Avenue (I'm a huge Prince fan) but the line stretched around the block.
  4. It seems to be here. Betty White is 88 years old now. Dang. Wow, for her age she can sure take a hit.
  5. I haven't seen much actual discussion here talking about whether or not you will use this service. I live in eastern Dane County. When we fly, we usually fly out of MKE due to the fares being much cheaper than Dane County. If just my wife is flying out town, I'll drive her to Mitchell International and drop her off, and then pick her up when she gets back. Although a pain in the butt, it saves on parking. When the new rail line is built, I can imagine us making the 25 minute drive to Watertown and then taking the train to MKE that way. Also, if the station in downtown Milwaukee is anywhere near the Bradley Center, we would take the train for Bucks and Admirals games, as well as concerts.
  6. Whenever I go to Chicago, I'll drive to Harvard and take the train. Do you use Metra or Amtrak? Metra is considerably cheaper than Amtrak. One-way during the week will cost you $8.05. On the weekend, it's $5.00 round-trip and kids under 12 are free. Very cheap and you don't have to pay for parking in downtown Chicago or fight the traffic.
  7. According to Twins.com: Sat., Mar. 13 at 9 am CT: Single-Game Tickets on sale for balance of 2010 Regular Season
  8. It's getting to be that time of year. I am leaning towards trying Taxactonline.com this time after using Turbo Tax for the past 6 years. I'm wondering if anyone tried Tax Act Online last year after reading this thread. Thanks.
  9. I am thinking of signing up for Netflix mainly so I can stream straight through my PS3. However, when I browse Netflix's library I cannot find any new releases available to stream. It almost appears that the only movies available to stream are those that have already been released for HBO, Showtime, etc. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?
  10. Me and a buddy got there at 9:15, and we left around 11:00. For awhile, it was really crowded in the clubhouse. They were just letting too many people in at one time. The line to check out was easily 1 hour +. My buddy waited in line while I continued to look around and hand him stuff for me. I thought the prices were fine. As mentioned earlier, a lot of the older batting practice jerseys were $25. The regular game-worn jerseys varied in price from $75 to over $1,000. I thought it was strange that both Suppan and Bill Hall jerseys were among the higher priced ones, with both going for $800. Todd Coffey's was $600, and it was huuuuuge. C.C.'s game worn jersey was $2,500. I saw items being restocked while I was there. The cap table was half empty when I arrived, but it was restocked about an hour later with new styles. Most of the fitted caps were really ugly, but at least they were priced at either $5 or $10.
  11. Let me get this straight, get caught with pot twice, and you get thrown in prison? Holy Crap! What is this, a muslim country or something? 2 times caught possessing pot = Class I Felony, Max sentence = 1.5 years in prison, 2 years parole. 2 times drunk driving = Misdemeanor, most likely 5 days jail, at the most, unless you hit someone. Reality is that with 2 pot convictions you would get a probation sentence, but prison is knocking on the door. At least in my county. RyDogg, you are failing to take into account municipal ordinance violations of Possession of THC. I'm aware of police departments that charge all possession of THC offenses as ordinance violations and the DA's office never sees them. That also includes repeat offenders.
  12. Off the top of my head, and I'm guessing at a lot of these: Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito The Mongols The Executioners (Killer Kowalski and John Studd) The Wild Samoans (Afa and Sika) The British Bulldogs (I think Lou was managing them when they beat Valentine and Beefcake) The Headshrinkers (I think Lou and Afa were both managing them when they won.) That's all I can come up with. I started watching the WWF around 1986, so most of Lou's managing run was before my time. For some reason, I remember Lou managing the team that beat Rick Martel and Tony Garea. EDIT: I haven't found a complete list, but I didn't do too bad. The Mongols was incorrect. The team I was thinking of who beat Martel and Garea was The Moondogs.
  13. A new annoying one is the McDonald's/Packers tie-in commercial about their Angus burgers. They also use the audio from the same radio commercial as a television spot. Anyway, the Packer guy sings a song with his accordian professing his love for the new Angus burger. He also mentions painting his body Green and Yellow. Really, green and yellow? Green and yellow? Maybe Mcdonald's should have done about 2 minutes of research and figured out their team colors are green and gold. FWIW, I'll take Hardee's mushroom n' swiss angus thickburger over McDonald's dry angus burger any day.
  14. The interest in the team is directly related to the attendance. Since they are not playing for anything but pride, the attendance the rest of the year will be down. I couldn't even sell 2 of my tickets to tonight's Cubs game on Ebay for $15 total. Face value was $90.
  15. I hate deceptive ads too. Like there is some guy in Idaho named Nick N. Nicholson who yells out, "Dang it. I have to wait until tomorrow to call." In Madison, there is a new fitness/nutrition store called Complete Nutrition. They run 2 separate ads on a regular basis. The first ad is for a muscle building product. At the end of that commercial, they have a disclaimer, "If you gain 20 pounds of muscle in the first 3 weeks, see your sales associate about adjusting your dose." The second product is a weight loss product. That disclaimer is, "If you lose more than 7 pounds in the first week, please discontinue use." Of course they don't promise that their product will actually give you those results, but the ad makes it sound like it.
  16. I think the Twins are the best fit for a JJ trade. However, I don't think the Twins would give up Slowey for JJ. I could see them wanting to deal someone like Blackburn or Anthony Swarzak for him.
  17. If you have Facebook, scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see English (US) underlined. Click on it. Change your language to English (Pirate). It is a lot of fun.
  18. Are you sure it is not Van Halen: "Right Now?"
  19. Textbooks are also too expensive when you only use the $85 textbook a few times during the entire semester. I always hated that. Many times I went without buying the textbook and ended up borrowing it from neighbors.
  20. I am still waiting for a Seattle Pilots bobble. Someone like Tommy Harper.
  21. Wilson Phillips "Hold On" maybe? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2L9IKVe9LA
  22. I did P90X for about 10 weeks. Then I went on a business trip and never got back on it. A few comments: 1.) I underestimated the cardio strength needed for P90x. I can bench press 315+, but I was gassed at the end of the first workout. There are a lot of exercises and you will definitely feel it the first week. 2.) In my opinion, P90X is too back crazy. I really don't have a desire to work my back 3 times a week. 3.) Plyometrics is hard. Really hard. 4.) These are long workouts. Each major workout with the Ab Ripper X are in excess of 1 hour. 5.) The Yoga workout is 90 minutes. I simply did not have the patience for a 90 minute Yoga workout, so I skipped it. 6.) I found Tony Horton extremely annoying. He reminded me of one of my old supervisors from my old job. 7.) I did not lose any weight on P90X. I actually put on weight, but it was definitely muscle.
  23. Good for Mayor Barrett for at least doing something about the incident, although it's horrible what happened to him. Nowadays, too many people turn a blind eye to people in need.
  24. I was very disappointed in McDonald's 1/3rd pound mushroom n' swiss. The burger was very dry. There was no sauce with the mushrooms either. I'll stick with Hardee's mushroom n' swiss. On the fries topic, Chick-fil-a has awesome waffle fries. I also like Arby's and Checker's too.
  25. I go to the casino about once every 3-4 years. This past weekend I took a roadtrip to see a game at the Metrodome since I haven't seen a baseball game there yet. On the way home, traffic backed up on the Interstate right at Highway 12. I got off there and decided to stop at Ho-Chunk on a whim. I sat down at the first machine that looked good (a nickel slot) and won $53 on the first pull. I calmly cashed out my winnings and left. Total time in the casino: About 90 seconds.
