  1. In 2021, the A’s asked the City to form an infrastructure financing district for the project. Oakland’s Council, including current Mayor Sheng Thao, agreed and convinced Alameda County to consider "opting in” as well, nearly doubling the potential funding available for public infrastructure, parks and affordable housing. In 2021, the A’s asked the City to raise nearly $360 million to fund offsite infrastructure. The City rose to the challenge, raising more than $375 million in non- City funding (with another $100 million in grant applications currently pending). In 2021, the A’s asked Oakland’s City Council to certify an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project. Oakland not only did so, but successfully defended it in court – twice. https://www.oaklandca.gov/resources/waterfront-ballpark-district-at-howard-terminal-faqs
  2. Maybe Vegas was a leverage move? I am not so sure MLB wants Vegas to have a team. The threat of Vegas getting a team can be used for new stadium deals in existing markets.
  3. He just hit a 458 foot dinger
  4. wow, nice pickup
  5. Another one en route:
  6. Yep he's 94. Born in 1928 when his dad was 75 (born in 1853). And when HE was born President Tyler was 63 years old. So if Al Pacino's kid has a kid when he's 75 and that kid (Pacino's grandkid) makes it to their 94th birthday the year will be 2192 (Happy 252nd Al Pacino!)
  7. 2nd one
  8. Here's the first one (a tall corner! Woot!):
  9. Bat signal is out again. Sounds like they got a few commits that came on official visits this weekend.
  10. Gotta pass the physical :)
  11. Sorry to hear that, man. Hope you land on your feet with a new gig soon.
  12. The thing is, if that didn't hit Adames it would have drilled the wall directly behind him. So someone NOT taking a risk by standing at the railing could have potentially gotten smoked.
  13. Guys, lay off calling other people's ideas "stupid". Thanks.
  14. Foul territory has decreased about 20% after the last run of new ballparks were built. Presumably the dugouts are much closer than back in the day when men were men. I can see making those safer. If a guy hits a 100mph screamer at your head you won't stand much chance even if you are paying attention. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/ballpark-playing-surfaces-are-shrinking-in-a-surprising-way/
  15. "You will not be able to lease these out for less than 31 days. You can do a month-long lease, but you can’t do a ... weekend lease," he said. Some homeowners might treat them like their cabin up north, using them only on weekends, but Policy expects many to be living there year-round." https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/news/2019/12/12/packers-titletown-district-prices-set-townhouses-expect-first-occupancy/4354799002/ There are currently no Air BnB listings for any of the Titletown apartments or townhomes for the game against New Orleans on Sept 24th. Ed Policy states quite clearly in that article they want it to be a year-round destination. The next phase is more entertainment (bars, restaurants, etc.). They know that won't work if the place is empty in the summer.
  16. From post above: They can't be leased for less than a month at a time.
  17. The whole point is to make it a year-round destination. Titletown has something like 150 apartments and 50 townhomes. Those aren't going empty if the Packers start losing.
  18. I think the idea is to develop the land so it is used year round. Titletown is a mix of hotels, offices, bars, restaurants, and residential (with a football field in the middle).
  19. The idea of developing the land around Am Fam is not new. Interesting article about that: https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2022/06/08/murphys-law-about-that-brewers-entertainment-district/ Almost none of the ideas have come from the Brewers though they did float a "what-if" to the city back in 2011/12:
  20. I read somewhere that the houses for sale in the Milwaukee market are down 49% from a year ago. There is just no supply right now. Stuff goes up on Zillow/Redfin and is gone within 24 hours unless it's at the high end of the market.
  21. This is only part of the problem. The county, for example. has to provide state-mandated services (e.g. courts) but the revenue they get back from the state to provide such services has remained flat the last 10 years or so (assuming the graph on the left is different since Covid): Hence the big kerfuffle going on right now to pass revised revenue sharing with municipalities. I realize this sort of tiptoes politics but I thought it was important to point out.
  22. Please stop with the condescending tone. Thanks.
