  1. No, of COURSE not! That's just one of the things that's so annoying about this. It's a GUIDE. And it's from 1990-something... It's basically just his informed OPINION. It does NOT take into account how much you and your front office values a player. . No it's not. It was based on something one of the minority owners developed after a career in oil. I think he was a math and econ guy. Now given salary changes one could argue it needs to be changed or at least revisited. I am hoping some advanced stat person takes that on at some point. I don't think the Johnson scale takes into account future draft picks. Maybe it does though.
  2. Who was the guy like 10 - 15 years ago that only pitched well at night? I think we called him The Vampire?
  3. Silverstein had a thing in the Journal about potentially trading Daniels. I tend to agree with him. I think he's in decline. Better to trade a year early than a year too late....and he's in the last year of his deal.
  4. We were -44 with him and Horford on the floor during the Bucks/Celts matchup's this year. He's not a good matchup for them. I think he'd be a better matchup in a potential series with Toronto(I can't see Philly winning that series with Embid looking so out of shape). Yeah, his +2 Sunday was just random good fortune from being on the floor on the rare occasions the Bucks were hitting some shots. It wasn't a credit to him at all. He's been a great defensive piece in the right match-ups this year because he protects the paint intelligently without fouling, but Boston was something like 27th in the entire NBA in points in the paint this year so he's of no use against them. Playing Lopez plays right into their hands because they love wide open outside shots for their bigs. Morris, Baynes, and Horford are 11 for 19 on 3's and 27 for 44 overall, and it's almost all wide open jumpers because Lopez can't even come close to contesting them. They have 6 fta's between them because they're living on perimeter shots. The game was looking dangerously like a replay of Sunday at times in the first half, but Ersan will stay within 5 feet of them and they won't have so many wide open attempts, as we saw in the 2nd half yesterday. That was the biggest change besides the Bucks actually hitting their open shots. Which is why single game + - is not a useful metric.
  5. I feel the same about House of Cards. The first season was incredible and they've just gone downhill since then. I didn't even watch last season. I guess you could say the same about True Detective. Season one was an all timer, season two really stink and season three was pretty good.
  6. Guys lets keep this thread on Peralta. We don't need every thread discussing piggy backing or out getters or whatever.
  7. He was +2 on Sunday. Only Buck in the positive.
  8. I don't think a prediction by its very nature can be a fact until it actually happens.
  9. The Wire is arguably the best TV show ever. It's on most critics top five lists of best all time.
  10. I don't mind Gary or Savage the players. I wish them lives of peace and fulfillment. My opinion is that GB could have had each of them (or players of similar value) and kept the two fourth-round picks and potentially garnered additional picks. Obviously, I don't know that for certain because I'm not in the war room.
  11. Another option is to park near the Western stop of the Brown Line. Exit Peterson, go east to Western, south to Lawrence and you are more or less there. Brown Line to Belmont and walk to Wrigley. Might be a tad faster depending on traffic but Skokie is also a good option.
  12. Also because people are easily amused.
  13. I think the major issue here is that a large portion of the fan base seems to assume that they know where Gary was valued by the general consensus, which is likely unfair or inaccurate. Mock drafts are often wrong. Reading 20 mock drafts online doesn't make their collective views a 'consensus'. Well right but there are scouts all over the place making anonymous comments (see McGinn's draft preview for one) also you can pretty much tell who isn't going to draft certain guys based on need. It's all the more reason to just gather a ton of picks and let the chips fall where they may. There is so much luck, randomness, and bias involved that you may as well throw a ton of darts at the board and hope one hits bullseye instead of throwing one dart. And for people that might be poo pooing 4th round picks: "In recent years, the Packers have found standouts such as offensive linemen David Bakhtiari, T.J. Lang, Josh Sitton and defensive lineman Mike Daniels in the fourth round." fin.
  14. I don't think it really matters where the Packers had Gary or any player valued. It matters where the general consensus has a guy valued. As an extreme example, maybe GB had Savage ranked #8 overall but they are pretty sure no one else has a top 25 grade on him. Do you take him at #12? No of course not. The Giants took some toad of a QB at #6 because he was "their guy". They probably could have gotten him at like #18 if they wanted to. Washington was obviously going after Haskins. Also going after one guy to fill a need is a very risky proposition. The Packers had holes all over the place and now they are still very thin at tackle, don't have a slot WR, could have used an MLB, etc.
  15. Has any college coach ever bad mouthed a former player before they were drafted?
  16. Burnes is cruising. Good to see.
  17. You take the good you take the bad you take the rest and there you have.....the facts of life.
  18. But you state that as fact when it’s pure conjecture or a semi-educated opinion at best. If Gute has him high, others very well may have too. It's an opinion. But it's one that's shared by many people that did watch every snap. Actually those people probably wouldn't have drafted him at all. I don't know how many guys leave high school as the #1 recruit in the nation, go to college and every scout around says "meh" and then goes on to be an all pro in the NFL. I'm guessing it's not many. Hopefully he does.
  19. He was a reach at 12. That's why people don't like the pick. He's fine if you get him at 20.
  20. Hiura had a walk tonight too! Baby steps...
  21. Me: Man, when's the last time DeGrom gave up more than three runs much less five? Me: I'm sad.
  22. Given Gute's comments about not really being thrilled at giving up three picks to move up, I bet he acquires more selections at some point.
  23. I think so. They had been drafting some glacially slow guys in Ted's last few years. It was obvious that none of their linebackers could cover as evidenced by the endless line of tight ends running free down the seam.
  24. Boo Should have traded down.
