  1. I deleted a bunch of posts (including a few of my own) so if things are confusing its on me. Discussion seemed to be getting away from Kang and about other things.
  2. Guess it bears mentioning that political posts are not allowed here. Tread lightly in this topic please.
  3. Isan Diaz is my spirit animal.
  4. I agree. This has not been the minor league season I had hoped for. Very few players have made the leap. I know we were looking at a top 10 system to start the year, I wonder where we rank now? Still top ten.
  5. Agreed. In other words...prospects.
  6. I love how he thinks that giving all the balls away except one is honorable.
  7. Any little lake in Lac du Flambeau
  8. I am sure that's exactly right It doesn't matter where in your rebuild a team is, if a team stumbles on enough quality on the rotation, you become instant contenders. He found one in Guerra. So GM's are always on the lookout for those guys regardless of the long term plan. have there been instances where a team 10 games below .500 at the break stumbled into starting pitching and became a contender? Because I can't think of any.
  9. The fact that he lied about how he got in is just despicable. I bet the Happy Youngster idolizes this clown.
  10. He may be referring to prospects.
  11. Kinda sucks Wilson Ramos decided to play like a big boy this year. Nationals have some good pitching prospects.
  12. Checked out his stats and he's getting a bit lucky in regards to BABIP but for the most part his results are not smoke and mirrors. Like most on here I'd hang on to him through the season.
  13. Tough break, Donald. I hope you can find a place for your work. Your contributions here are much appreciated.
  14. I'm not going to get into the whole "luck" aspect of baseball as that would derail the thread. All I'll say is that people tend to get hung up on the term "luck" when it's really regression to the mean they are talking about. But you are correct that good organizations can overcome bad luck in player development by having deeper roster of prospects to choose from. I'm not disputing that. Cardinals have had plenty of bad luck (Taveras tragedy for one) but are able to overcome it because they have a deeper player pool.
  15. Would you consider taking the train? If you are in Rosemont you can take the Blue Line all the way downtown. Takes about 40 min. You can either transfer to a bus or walk from the Blue Line to Shedd. Strollers on the train are fine if you have one for the two year old. Traffic is bad on weekends too....seriously I think some of the worst traffic in Chicago is late afternoon on a weekend.
  16. I don't recall the Brewers staring a draft pick above A ball since I started caring about the Brewers
  17. I don't know how you can call a guy low character based off of one issue and one that quite possibly had something to do with his medication. The whole thing stinks for the Brewers though and pretty much sums up the overall luck this franchise has had. Why is it that good organizations are "lucky" and bad organizations are "unlucky"? Good organizations have bad luck too.
  18. True. I should have said "reality is potentially really good".
  19. You answered your own question. You say he's not going to be a sub 3 ERA guy and that's exactly what he's been the last 6 weeks. His numbers will come back to reality eventually. The good news (and I thought I was clear about this) is that reality is still really good.
  20. Corey Ray assigned to the Manatees per TH tweet. I don't recall the Brewers ever starting a draft pick above A ball.
  21. His game log and totals since the beginning of May: http://i.imgur.com/jX4lwOw.png I love the run he's on, but the high LOB% and super low BABIP makes me think he's pitching over his head. Also the HR rate is kind of high. Obviously, FIP and xFIP show that. HOWEVER, FIP and XFIP show he's still really good even if he's been a bit lucky over this stretch. Only 23 years old....exciting young pitcher to say the least.
  22. I think this means the Brewers are roughly $1 million under? Can anyone confirm? Maybe they pony up some cash for that kid in Arizona now.
  23. I don't think you can really be disappointed the Bucks didn't get a "shooter" until free agency/trades are over and done with. Other ways to find players.
  24. Nailed it, IMO Actually, no he didn't nail it. OP mentioned Cuba specifically and only listed Cuban players. So it was one country he referenced and as such it was clear he was referring to their political system and not the poverty of the players. If it had been simply an economic issue he would have referenced players from the Dominican as well. IMO, there are plenty of players who grow up in poverty that do well on the field once they get money...dozens of examples really. Having said that only one person by my reckoning even breathed the word "racist" in this thread. That does not require 13 people to tell that person they are wrong. Thus, everyone should drop the "race" angle and get back to discussing the merits of one Rusney Castillo.
