  1. Yeah therapy dog....just hangs out for an hour once a week and then leaves. TDI gave me a form to fill out that requires doctor's signature. Thanks for the tip!
  2. And right on cue, Arcia goes yard in the 3rd inning.
  3. Odorizzi, Brantley, Escobar, Cain beg to differ. The problem was they weren't adequately replaced.
  4. I didn't know there were people that liked Rock.
  5. I was pro Sabathia at the time and in retrospect I would have done it 100 out of 100 times even knowing what Brantley turned into. That summer was electric at MP. I doubt you'll ever see a half season like that again. The guy basically willed the Brewers to the playoffs. something I'll never forget.
  6. Thanks. What about Clay Aiken?
  7. I was wondering if there was a service that brought dogs into people's homes to hang out for an hour or so. I know there are therapy dogs for hospitals and rehab clinics but is there an in-home service?
  8. Absolutely. I wonder if there is any film of him. He was the Pistol Pete of Wisconsin. That's a really interesting idea. Reason I ask all this is that I'm involved in the film industry and have a connection to a connection to a connection to a guy at ESPN that is influential in green lighting the 30 for 30 ideas. It's a super, duper lottery type long shot to actually get it made but I think I might have a decent shot to at least pitch the idea to the guy.
  9. I was watching the Tour of California last week and the winner of the stage was from Team BMC Racing and after the race as the show is wrapping up, sure enough there's Eric Heiden. He got some serious face time and the commentators were fawning all over him, mentioning him being a former national cycling champion/almost finisher of the Tour de France on top of his speed skating accomplishments. He must be on the BMC staff. He's also an orthopedic surgeon. Talk about a renaissance man.
  10. Pretty sure this thread has run its course. Time to move on, people.
  11. How about the stadium "stampede" at UW back in '93? Maybe that would just be part of the Alvarez doc.
  12. What off field benefits would they cash in on? And how would they surpass the on field benefits?
  13. Any ESPN 30 for 30 ideas based on a Wisconsin related story? Suzy Favor Hamilton comes to mind, maybe the rag tag Brewers of the 80's.
  14. This is a chicken or egg thing IMHO. Is it the players we get or is it a lack of properly developing them? I honestly don't know. I remember Melvin talking about a minimum walk:AB ratio for minor leaguers....like they want at least 1 BB for every 10 AB or something like that. So my guess is these guys are just free swingers by nature. They have drafted guys with good eyes. Better hitters probably just have better eyes for pitches.
  15. Roache has 6 doubles in his last 10 games too. Don't have time to figure out SLG but for the year it's .574
  16. Where does he project to go given the TJ surgery he had in March? Apologize if this topic is already buried in some other thread.
  17. A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night Genre bending black and white film that is pretty much unlike anything out there. Best way I can describe it is that it's an Ameri-Iranian Noir Western Vampire flick. The story really drags at points and to me it never quite figures out what it's trying to say but visually it's really cool. Available on Netflix Instant Daredevil I'm about 3/4 of the way through the episodes. It's pretty well done. The one bone I have to pick is that it seems at least twice an episode there are guys pinned to the ground in order to get information out of them. The fight choreography is really good as is the cinematography....and Vincent D'onofrio is incredible as Wilson Fisk - they've really gone out of their way to give the villain some depth. Netflix Instant
  18. Roache is on a double a day kick. That's one double in each of the last four games.
  19. Are you referring to me or Ed Farmer? Because I don't see a difference in Braun.
  20. Was listening to Sox radio broadcast on my way home from work. Ed Farmer, who I usually like because he doesn't subscribe to hyperbole and he's not a huge homer, said Ryan Braun has lost weight the last couple of years. I assume this is a PED reference. My question is: has he actually lost weight or is Ed just assuming that everyone busted for PED's has to lose 20 lbs?
  21. Vegas odds are built to promote betting. Baseballprospectus has generally pegged the team as low 80s wins since Fielder left the team. It is heavily regressed so that generally means 'in the playoff mix'. Last year they actually got over a 90% playoff odds at one point, it took a really huge collapse to not make it. A collapse largely caused by most of the lineup getting nagging injuries at the same time, not due to lack of talent. I believe the odds are generally set to promote even betting on both sides of the O/U. Basically, Vegas wants 50/50 split between over bets and under bets. They use a lot of the same statistical numbers everyone else does to get to their lines.
  22. I prefer not to have a designated guy just for a particular inning. You end up with Ned Yost bullpen management that way.
  23. No it isn't. There were some valid concerns raised about Ryan Braun as a player and his contract. Personally, no, I don't think his contract is the worst in franchise history. And I do think he's showing that he'll continue to be a good player for the foreseeable future. You proved my point for me. Thanks. This board was a lot better when there weren't so many self-righteous people. It's becoming border line "JS Comments" with some of the postings. I take it from your avatar that you're a big Braun fan. That's cool. Apparently some people are disappointed by his last couple of seasons and think he hasn't played up to his value. That's cool too. If you are a big Braun fan and see a thread with this title you can guess what the majority of posts will be about. Maybe don't look at the thread if it's going to bother you.
