  1. I think as long as there's an age minimum, say 17 or 18, then the good players in places like the Dominican will be well known to pretty much everyone.
  2. Not 100% apples to apples but the NBA makes it work with a global pool (Euro and South American mostly but still)
  3. Bernie Pleskoff @BerniePleskoff #Brewers have a real gem in Khris Davis. I have not seen a bad at-bat from him. Shame he plays LF and not 1B. He has a big future.
  4. If I were the opposing manager and Braun was at first, I would tell every runner to take a big lead and run with every pick-off attempt, and keep running until they hit third because the throw would be in left field. Braun was as bad at third as he is good at the plate, and I don't think switching sides of the infield will make him decent. I 100% disagree. The throw from 1st to 2nd is half as far as third to first
  5. There are like a hundred best parts to that gif: - the old guy in the orange sweater who stands up to confront him - the security guy in the white polo with the creepy smile - the comic book guy from The Simpsons on press row - the big flying white thing that hits a poor girl in the head (and scares the bejeebus out of a girl behind her)
  6. Henderson is the very definition of volume shooter. He's only at 35% from beyond the arc. Brust, Dekker, and even Marshall are better than that. Now he's the kind of guy that can get hot and carry a team but UW is one of the best perimeter defensive teams in the country. Plus Ole Miss plays FAST. I'd be willing to bet that the half court game will totally confuse them. And KU will be playing in KC as well so it's possible they root against KSU.
  7. Everyone will hate Marshall Henderson from Ole Miss: http://nbccollegebasketballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/marshall_hendersonauburn.gif?w=640&h=360
  8. If Prince Fielder can be below average at 1st base, I am 100% confident Ryan Braun can at least be average. And if Khrush Davis is on the Brewers bench to start the year, I am boycotting this team. He needs to play every single day.
  9. At this point, they're so deep & balanced. It's really been fun to watch. I'm really glad the championship game will be against OSU. MSU just terrifies me at this time of year. UW usually does pretty well against teams that rely heavily on getting turnovers which is basically what IU does. They have problems with teams that play really strong perimeter defense and really strong positional defense inside. MSU does both of those things very well. OSU gets a lot of turnovers too so I am hopeful their recent defensive surge is a mirage because they don't defend the perimeter well and give up a lot of 2pt baskets as well. A lot hinges on how effective Jackson can be against Craft.
  10. NO!!!!!! That's precisely why people don't care for the show. They keep comparing it to the comic. It's not the comic. It's TV. I never read the comic so I have no basis of comparison and I'm enjoying myself just fine. It's not Mad Men or Lost or Breaking Bad but it's entertaining.
  11. Davis did an interview this spring where he said he tried out first base and it really didn't work for him. Defense is a skill that some players have and some don't, so your statement is kind of like saying "just give Izturis a bat and tell him to hit a HR. He'll get better." . Defense at first base can be learned. Field grounders and catch the ball occasionally on a short hop. Power and speed and a 95 mph fastball are God given.
  12. I can fill in here or there especially early on in the season. Late summer gets kind of dicey so maybe just put me in the bullpen for now and hope you don't have to use me in a high leverage situation.
  13. I get the concern about Davis' defense, but seriously....stick him at first and live with it. He'll get better.
  14. I believe New Times is a weekly publication. The print edition probably comes out on Thursday.
  15. I really can't stand Tom Crean.
  16. It is possible that Coulter, Roache, Taylor, and Arcia will all be playing for the T-Rats at the same time this summer. That will be an interesting lineup for sure.
  17. I doubt anyone that still holds that grudge follows the Bucks.
  18. I wonder how Jabbar would relate to the players? He doesn't seem like he has a players coach type personality.
  19. I'm guessing that Bret Boone and Brady Anderson took steroids. Just a hunch.
  20. Funny you mention that... http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/20130228cactus-league-arizona-cities-lose-millions-operating-stadiums.html Interesting article but I guess I was looking at it from the team's perspective. How much does it hurt the Brewers financially if they aren't getting big attendance numbers? I would think Attanasio would bolt immediately if he saw $$ in a different community.
  21. Yeah, Anaheim is really good. I mean as great as Chicago has been they're a bad week away from a 2 seed.
  22. How much revenue does a spring training facility bring in anyway?
  23. This Blackhawks streak is sort of ridiculous.
  24. MLB would only say something if any of these guys failed, had their appeal hearing, and then were being suspended. This guy said he was a month ahead of the Melky announcement, so I would guess we're about a month away from an answer on these guys. But my fantasy baseball draft is in two weeks!!!!
