  1. You should expect to get "razzed" a little bit but no one should be expecting "trouble". I go to Brewer games down in Wrigley all the time and no one has verbally abused me. I would hope we would be able to do the same. People take this goofy rivalry way too seriously. If you're going to get in a fist fight because some dude has a Cub flag or says "brewers suck!" then you should really re-examine your life. Same goes for a loser Cub fans that can't take a few goat jokes.
  2. Everything if it leads to some kind of physical confrontation.
  3. Or drunken brewer fans rubbing it in their faces. I've been to two Brewer Cub games this year and the Brewer fans have been pretty obnoxious. If I had little kids, I'd avoid a Cubs game at Miller. There was a family in front of us during Friday's game (kids were like 7 or 8 years old) and the drunk Brewer fan next to me couldn't stop with the F bombs. Finally after a couple innings he screamed some near incoherent line with two or three more F bombs and me and my buddy nearly had to hold the dad back from going after the dude. After a scolding from all three of us he pretty much sat down and shut up the rest of the game. I don't want Miller Park to be a place where parents can't bring their kids regardless of the opponent. So please, stop with the F the Cubbies chants in the concourses and have some respect for little kids and old people at the very least. Show a little more class than Cub fans have shown in the past.
  4. "although we'd be open to something on a smaller lake in central/northern Wisc" How far north? We go to Lac Vieux Desert every year. It's a border lake between WI and MI just north of Land o Lakes. Here's the resort we use: http://www.winddriftresort.com/ Not sure what you're looking for exactly. Fishing? Boating?
  5. are you over 30?
  6. Plus the Royals are in 1st place and drawing pretty well this year (for them anyway). He's not going anywhere.
  7. I don't know why people seem to think Chicago is so expensive. It's really not. You can find plenty of one bedrooms for $600 - $700 a month in neighborhoods comparable to Milwaukee. And for some reason there's this misconception that all of Chicago is dangerous. I'm willing to bet the crime rate in any northside neighborhood is less than the East Side of Milwaukee or Riverwest. At the very least they're probably about the same. And most people I know all work within the city so a commute is limited to the time on the train or the bus....or their bike. Like I said though, more options doesn't make it better in everyone's eyes. I could certainly understand why someone would want to live in Madison, or Fox Cities, or Milwaukee for that matter. Different strokes....
  8. The worst thing about that comment from Brenly is that he used an old, tired, stereotype (if you can even call it that) to try to be funny. As such, it wasn't even close to being funny. It's like making fun of a Boston accent or how cold it is in Minnesota in the winter. And having lived my adult life in equal parts Scottsdale, Milwukee, and Chicago I can say with perfect certainty that there is more to do in Chicago than either of those cities. If I was married and didn't go out as much I would think Milwaukee was perfect but once you've lived there and been single for four years or so you start seeing the same people at the same bars every week. I never have that problem in Chicago. There are just more options out there in more neighborhoods. And that goes for more than just bars. If I want Ethiopian one night and Vietnamese the next I can find both within a mile of my place. Also the music scene is much bigger in Chicago. I can see good live acts every night of the week in every genre you can imagine. Backup mentioned comedy - I can see improv or sketch every night of the week at multiple venues as well. Not saying Chicago is a "better" city but there is definitley more to do. One nice thing Milwaukee has over Chicago is that it's easy to get around via car and there are more affordable golf courses within easy reach of the city. Chalk it up to cheap real estate closer to the population center I suppose.
  9. I dunno. They finished 11 ahead of their pythagorean in 2007 which some attribute to the manager. They've had some issues with injuries this year; namely Webb and Drew (and Scherzer started the year on the DL). I don't think he's getting a fair shake given that they've been above .500 with a young club the last two years.
  10. Although people are wising up to that too. Professional athletes have access to the best medical care on the planet. Why go to a non-sanctioned MD? Answer below: http://www.geocities.com/HankAzaria1/Hank_site/Hank_pics/Selected/DrNickRiviera/new4_good.gif Just stupid.
  11. Hmmm....gonna have to get a judges ruling on that one. Yep, you're covered.
  12. You are a communist.
  13. I will say that if the brewers get close or break the record and ESPN doesn't mention it then it's shoddy journalism. At that point I'd consider it a story.
  14. And she's a darn good guitar player http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I really don't think it's a big deal at all. I think it would be different if they were big rivals or playing for the lead in the division. But it's really not that big a story, IMO.
  16. I would say it's probably that strip of Mayfair Rd in general - mall included. When my parents lived in Tosa it was like every car that was stolen or office that was broken into was on that strip. The only other slightly dicey part of Tosa (and that's a stretch to call it dicey) is the far east side around 60th and North. It's not dangerous but if you leave a bike in your front yard or your garage unlocked you'll most likely not see your stuff for very long. Granted, my definition of dangerous might differ vastly from someone else's. I always considered Tosa extremely safe while growing up there. The Village of Tosa has a lot of apartments near it (there are several complexes along State St) and there's stuff to do down there - there are bike/running paths, a high school football stadium with a track, several bars and restaurants.
  17. Puddle of Mudd Worst. Band. Ever.
  18. Is it wrong that I don't even remember who gave my commencement speech? I do, however, remember that Al Toon received his diploma that day....probably 15 years after he left for the NFL.
  19. TORONTO-Always mindful of his contributions on offense, Blue Jays shortstop Marco Scutaro has been observed determining his precise value over replacement player (VORP) before every at bat. "Let me see here.... Subtract hits from my total number of at bats, okay, and multiply the league's current average runs per out by my total number of outs so far this year, which is 57. Bring in the old Marginal Lineup Value, and just quickly normalize the numbers with the park factors," Scutaro said to himself while writing mathematical equations in the dirt next to the on-deck circle. "Carry the one. That leaves me with an 8.8, I think. Nice." Scutaro then struck out on three consecutive pitches http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/stat_minded_player?utm_source=a-section

  21. Hardy just needs a slump buster. Ask Mark Grace for a definition....
  22. I went to El Norte here in Chicago for lunch. Good times, average burrito.
  23. Bird Flu SARS Mad Cow Disease Swine Flu I really don't think it's a big deal. There have probably been more deaths due to regular influenza since this thing started than to swine flu. In any event, I will not let it get in the way of burrito appreciation month.
  24. Go Blackhawks!
