  1. I got a pop up from IE telling me it had prevented a file from being downloaded onto my computer from the brewerfan political board. The file in question was bloodhound.exploit.196 which is some kind of virus if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know.
  2. Feel free. and remember....an egg roll does not count as a Chinese burrito but a Ho Ho can be counted as a dessert burrito.
  3. I wanted to give you all a heads up that May is "Burrito Appreciation Month". Why May? Why not. Anyway, the goal is to eat as many burritos as possible and then reap the benefits of burrito fulfillment. I have a blog celebrating this holy month. As you can tell, 2008 was a weak year for burritos but 2009 looks promising. For those of you saying to yourselves "I don't get it." I say "You've already thought too much....go eat a burrito."
  4. UW dorms breakdown like this: whichever one you start out at you'll love and never understand how anyone could live in a different one. I lived in the Lakeshore dorms and loved being by picnic point, the lake, and close to most of my classes. Everyone I know that lived in Ogg, Sellery loved it and had no clue why anyone would live in Lakeshore. You won't go wrong either way.
  5. I love that little guy. Hope he can prove the naysayers wrong.
  6. Hart's only played 51 games in CF in his career and hasn't played there since 2007. I think it's a stretch to say with any certainty what kind of player he'd be out there on an everyday basis.
  7. Vegas Hilton has the biggest sportsbook I believe but it's off the strip. I've probably been to Vegas like 20 times all told. The deli at the MGM sportsbook has killer pastrami and corned beef. The deli at the Hilton sportsbook has great subs. Downtown Vegas is fun if you aren't afraid of the seedy side of life. I don't think it's dangerous - just different. And the Fremont St. light show is pretty cool. You'll like the Wynn - the pool is awesome there. Every single big casino has great restuarants so I can't really recommend the ones I've been too (Nobu, Delmonico, Nine....all are excellent but I'm sure other top end restaurants are just as good). I wasn't all that impressed with China Grill at Mandalay Bay. My friends raved about Aureole. I can't remember the name of the place but there's a 'dive' casino across from Caesers that has a beer pong 'court' in it. That looked like fun.
  8. I live in Chicago and I think there are plenty of really attractive women in Milwaukee....more than most outsiders give it credit for.
  9. Wear some of her clothes.
  10. One thing to consider: Once you pay cash for the house you no longer have that cash. By that I mean you can't access it readily for an emergency (i.e. health situation) or an unforeseen expense (i.e. you get laid off). If you buy the house, the only way you're getting that money out is to borrow it back from the bank or sell your house. So if you do pay cash, I recommend not paying with ALL your cash - keep some for emergencies and what not.
  11. Kinda dumb for him to appeal. Best case scenario he gets a game chopped off that he serves later on this season. Why not take the two games now when you're hurt and not playing well?
  12. I think it's a combination of the amount of sunlight and the ground temp that causes leaves to bud. I know it's sunight that causes the color to change in the fall - that's why you'll see leaves turn even though it's still 70 degrees in early october.
  13. Yes, we get it. You live in Texas and it's warmer there than the midwest. But it also means you have to live with Texans....I'll call it even.
  14. What extra money? You still owe a decent sum (I assume) at 2.8+percent. Are you investing the money that you aren't using to pay off the loan in something that has/will average better than 2.8%? Not paying it off is fine but only if you are making more in some other venture than the interest that's accruing on the loan.
  15. "Can you get 10% right now?" No, but over 40 years you might be able to average that return. EDIT: I just took a look at Mint and it appears to be a really cool site. I'm going to give it a test run. I'm interested in knowing where my disposable income goes - I have a good idea but am too lazy/scared to add it all up and see how much I waste on eating out and drinking beer.
  16. Most people do not have 6 month reserve - young or old. This was something I struggled to acheive for a long time. It wasn't until I bought a condo, got a sizaeable tax return and paid off all my credit cards that I got going. One thing that helps is to put away just $50 per paycheck into a money market. It's amazing how fast that accumulates and you don't really miss the money. Then when you get some unexpected bonus (like a tax refund) you just plunk it in the fund instead of spending it. Now I'm up to about a year's worth of cash on hand that I can use for whatever and since it's in a money market I have access to it almost immediately.
  17. DM was released from FLA today. He's kind of a Branyan with a little less power and some better bat skills. Any interest in picking him up? He could play 1st at AAA and potentially be the left handed side of a 3B platoon with Hall if there's an injury.
  18. "Good to see that Lamb's contract was not a factor in the decision." Brewers were only paying $400K of it. Twins covered the rest.
  19. The Cubs should win the division.....if they stay healthy and that's a big if with this club. Zambrano, Harden, Soriano, and Bradley all need to stay off the DL for significant chunks of the year in order for them to hit 95 wins. BP's team health report was full of red lights for these guys.
  20. I thought they were #2 most of the season. KenPom had them at like 4th.
  21. Weeks and Fielder were (in one case still are) horrible defenders in the minors and it didn't hurt their prospect status at all. The difference is Weeks can/could switch to another position and Fielder's defense isn't as big an issue at 1st base as it is at catcher. I forget exactly where catcher is on the defensive spectrum but it's near the top (if not the top) in terms of hardest/most important.
  22. "The Big Ten was the highest rated conference (at least towards the end of the year...not sure if they still are) for basketball this year" Where did you get this from?
  23. I suppose if it had been Minnesota I might feel differently since I hate everything about that school and state. But MSU I have no qualms with really other than their coach is a tool and their big immigrant is a dork. I am directing this at the group.
  24. Wandy Rodriguez is decent enough as a back of the rotation guy. I mean.....there's that. And there's this: Michael Bourne holds the key to Houston's playoff fortunes I can't help feeling like these articles are jokes. He can't really feel this way can he? Does he moonlight for The Onion's sports department and just submit the articles to the wrong publication?
