  1. Come on. I know the team is frustrating right now, but we are still barely out of first place. I we really going to start resorting to this time of hyperbolic vent thread type posting? The team is frusterating right now? Melvin's record as Brewers GM is very poor, and the state of the organization has not improved. We could ask Melvin to make moves, but history tells us that the only moves that help this team during the Melvin era is to promote former high draft picks. Many of the best from recent drafts have been traded. Melvin has run out of bullets without hitting the target.
  2. The team's bullpen has a 3.94 ERA, which isn't bad. The problem is some of its best relievers pitch the lowest leverage innings, while its worst reliever pitching in the highest leverage situations.
  3. Hopefully he gets a promotion soon, to AA, or even AAA. Santo has been awesome. The addition of Blanks to BC should make Santo's promotion easier. Santo is the most pleasant development in the minors this year, (maybe besides the return to form of Taylor Green)
  4. Why not just quote me since you're taking issue with me? You give my memory too much credit. I might remember subjects, but not author's. I apoligize for the un-intentionally snarky comment.
  5. The best thing Melvin could do is turn in his letter of resignation. This team has a few superstars the farm system provided, but has massive holes in the spots Melvin messed with. We have a massive negative at SS while JJ Hardy stars for another team. The farm system has less talent than it had the day Melvin took over. He has done nothing for this organization.
  6. Is that really Mark Rogers on the mound for the baby Brewers? If it is, then good thing a few Brewerfan members didn't get their way with a premature surgery for Mark.
  7. Execpt Escobar wasn't excelling at AAA. He was mediocre there. Hardy deserved to be sent down, but it should have happened weeks earlier, and Counsell should have taken over at SS.
  8. I hope they wouldn't trade him. If they did, it would be just another illistration of Melvin's inability to understand pitching statistics. I'm guessing Greinke gets hot soon.
  9. That's great to read. He seems very promising, and shows that we might be able to develop a pitcher, as he was a pretty big project. Hard to believe he is the only international signing that appears to be an up and coming prospect at BC, and we don't have any international signings on prospect challenged team at Wisconsin and Helena. I've blasted the Brewers international efforts in the past, so the Brewers resurrgence in the DSL this year is a huge relief to me.
  10. I'd be embarrassed if I was a writer, and the best source I could find was an idiotic gambling addict who's been irrelevant for over 10 years.
  11. It has a little to do with Kotsay. If Kotsay wasn't useless there wouldn't be a need to add another bat. Kotsay's only role should be PH, so Gamel might have the opportunity to steal his role. 5 OFs is a luxory, not a necessity. Kotsay isn't really a pinch hitter anyway, he's only a pinch batter.
  12. Because Melvin won't want to trade for him. I think that's what people are mostly alluding to. Not a Melvin fan, but I doubt he holds any kind of grudge, and he believes in 2nd chances. I would think he'd believe Hardy would give him a 2nd chance. Hardy would be crazy to turn down the type of free agency pay day he could get if he played on a World Series team.
  13. Great to see Heckathorn dominant today. Now he just needs to be consistant with it, and staying healthy might be part of that. Hunter Morris stays hot too. Todays game should boost his OPS over 1.000 over his last 10.
  14. Yes, we do. You get 1 every 2 years, and the MLE they used on Gooden was year 2 of the cycle. A full MLE is a huge offer, and we can offer that. The only teams that can beat that are teams well under the cap. There's isn't many teams like that, and those team might instead chase the unrestricted FA centers, or already have a quality shooting guard. Not saying our odds are great, but I think we have a realistic shot.
  15. I'd definitely go with that lineup. But Ron will go with... Weeks Morgan Braun Fielder McGehee Hart Gamel Betancourt Lucroy Your proably right, but the reason RR gives for McGehee 5th ahead of Hart is that he thinks McGehee needs protection in the lineup right now (ya, I know thats lame). If RR really believes that, he could at least do this lineup now: Weeks Morgan Braun Fielder Hart McGehee Gamel Betancourt Lucroy That's not ideal, but it's progress.
  16. Sergio Mitre for Jamey Carrol. Not quite fair on talent alone, but the Dodgers save a little money here. I would think that would be appealing to them right now.
  17. The scorer the Bucks need to add is SG Marcus Thornton. After being dealt to Sacramento last year, Thornton averaged 21 PPG in 27 games, and did it effeciently. He's a high effort player who loves contact, can shoot the 3, he defends, and will only be 24 next year. The best part is that because the Bucks dealt Salmons to the Kings, Sacramento likely won't be willing to match offers to the restricted FA Thornton. The Bucks can use their Mid-Level Exemption to sign Thornton.
  18. It's disappointing they only sent 1 player down. They need both Braddock and Gamel. If they want to keep my fandom, I can't handle another interleague series with Kotsay starting.
  19. Why? Just move McGehee down and hit Hart 5th. Morgan is good in the 2 hole. Of course someone will mention better solutions, but I've given up on RR using logical thinking.
  20. Why is there no attention paid to efficiency? Sure Jackson scores 20 points a game but it's on bad efficiency. That doesn't help the least efficient offense in the NBA. Jax is an inefficient shooter, but he also creates shots for others. That's something neither Salmons nor Maggette ever did. Don't ignore Shaun Livingston in this trade either. His Player Efficiency Rating was pretty good last year, and his physical gifts return a little more each year since that horrific knee injury a few years ago. His combination of size (6'6") and quickness is rare at PG. I wanted the Bucks to sign him as the back-up PG last year, but he got more money and available playing time from Charlotte.
  21. I hope RR moves Morgan to 6th? Why? Because McGehee ends every rally batting 5th, and Hart is constantly being miscast leading off innings. Of course someone will mention better solutions, but I've given up on RR using logical thinking.
  22. Hopefully Udrih is that guy. Beno shot 50 % from the floor last year, outstanding for a jumpshooting PG.
  23. On Burks. So we could have taken a guy who is a far better shot creator both for himself and for others and who is only one year older than the guy we drafted. I just don't like Harris at all. To me he's just a role player. 1st, if funny how you state Burks played in a tough conference, when Harris played the 2nd toughest schedule of any team in the nation. You need to find a new source for your scouting reports. They question the athletism of Harris, but not of Burks? Harris is a far more explosive leaper and has just as much lateral quickness as Burks, despite being 30 pounds bigger. Burks finished in the lane well in college, but he'll struggle at that in the NBA because he's so weak and doesn't jump well. It's the toughest skill to translate to the NBA. Without that skill, he has nothing. DraftRater, which I know your familiar with, may give some false positives, but rarely gives false negatives, gave a very mediocre rating to Burks. It projects him as a role player. Even worse, that system doesn't take into account his unwillingness to defend, work on his shot, or work in the weight room. DraftRater gave a great rating to Harris, which might mean nothing, but the low rating for Burks is extremely damning. Your right that one of these players projects as a role player, you just have the wrong one.
