  1. I'm not sure what people are basing the accusations of Gindl's limited power potential. He has filled out bigtime over the last year. He is now a very powerful dude. Watch his homers and tell me lacks power. He hits tape measure shots, and has awesome raw power. His HR totals will soar over the next 2 years. I continue to think he is our top position player prospect. He is similar to a better conditioned Matt Stairs, who has had an extremely underrated MLB career, with 9 seasons with an OPS of 818 or higher. That's awesome for a player I'm guessing wasn't a steriod abuser.
  2. My idea would be to cut Lopez, bring up Peralta for game 2. Then after the doubleheader is over, send out Dillard, Estrada or F DLC, and add Green. Keep Peralta for use out of the pen.
  3. Via Sessile Fielder, & per TH: Doug Melvin told me the sprained thumb that forced Nashville's Taylor Green out of game Sunday is not considered serious. So I have to eat my words on this one, & apologize to Don Money. Glad to hear, though, that he wasn't pulling Green from the game for making a couple errors, as that would have been completely kooky. No need for you to apoligize. Money is still a kook.
  4. That bum Lopez better not be on the team tomorrow. He didn't run out any of his 3 groundouts today. Inexcusable. Fielder runs out everyone, but a part timer like Lopez doesn't? Get that cancer off our team. Everything is going too well to let him infect this striving unit.
  5. Anyone know why Taylor Green was removed from the Nashville game in the 4th inning? There doesn't appear to be an obvious reason. Please tell me he finally got a long overdue callup!
  6. Taylor Green was just removed from the Nashville game in the 4th inning for no obvious reason. Hopefully he finally got the call.
  7. Agreed. Estrada made some great pitches, his location was outstanding. That tool Mitch Williams kept saying the Pirates were getting themselves out, but Estrada was consistently hitting the Hall of Fame spot. I guess williams would have been more impressed if Estrada fell off the mound more. I wonder if Estada is similar to Narveson in that he's better as a starter than a reliever. Neither seems to be able to command their changeup as well when working in relief.
  8. Lopez is done. He no longer has the batspeed that he once had. That trait made teams ignore his laziness. Not anymore. Release Lopez and bring up Green today.
  9. Could that be related to Milwaukee's need for another 40 man roster spot? Farris had occupied 1.
  10. Grienke can go on regular rest, but Estrada or someone else will still need to pitch the next day, lest Marcum pitch on three days rest.Wow, umm yeah, not enough coffee yet! It's not really Melvin's M.O. to rush up a 22 year old from AA to make 1 or 2 spot starts is it? I don't have any examples, but it seems like he's more likely to call up an older, fringe prospect from AAA. Melvin did call up Chris Seanz (spelling?) from AA several years ago.
  11. If Narvy goes on the DL retroactive to his last start, he could return for the doubleheader on the 22nd. If Peralta was called up to pitch Friday, he could make 3 starts, his last being game 1 of the doubleheader.
  12. I'd rather call up Fiers, but it doesn't work, he isn't available until Sunday. Fiers has a AAA ERA of 1.42 and has 98 Ks in 93 innings for the season.
  13. He is tall with a huge frame even though he is still real lean. He is pretty raw as a pitcher. He has upside, but is a total project.
  14. Stetter also fits that description. The Mets stated they were going to take a look at a guy and likely grab him quickly, then didn't. Stetter would make sense there because his rehab failed, and then the Mets made no move. The next question is who are the other 4?
  15. They limit the call-ups in the years they aren't in the race, but when they were in it a few years ago, they carried 39 players if I remember correctly. I'm guessing we carry a full roster this time too, as several call-ups may be better than the guys we presently have.
  16. Even though Maldonado is on the 40 and might develop into a worthwhile 2nd catcher, I bet they instead bring up veteran Mike Rivera. He'll join Gamel, Green, Carrol, Peralta, and De La Cruz. Farris will likely be DFA'd to make room on the 40. Dan Meadows could figure in too. Peralta is on the 40, and looks like he could blow people away in a relief role. He might be a better option for the post-season than Dillard.
  17. I understand the desire for an OBA guy, but I think we still could have one as our future RF in Caleb Gindl. He doesn't have quite as high of OBA as Komatsu did, but likely will when he gets as old as Komatsu, and he's already a rung higher with better power.
  18. Nashville with 4 runs early as Don Money tries a completely new approach for him as he stacks his best hitters at the top of the lineup. Tough to say our system is dead when we have a 3some at AAA like Schafer, Gindl, and Green.
  19. No work ethic? The guy has been jerked all over the place by this organization, yet continues to go out on a day to day basis and mash the ball, and play whatever position of the day they need him to play. I'd like know where the 'no work ethic' thing comes from. Mat has had issues, I'll leave it at that. I welcome getting something in return for him. Sadly, he's only a few years away from being past his prime. We can easily find a different 1b for next year if we need one.
  20. Green has been getting more time at 2B with Gamel at 3B so he has to be an option. Not Farris though, he's not even a decent AAA player. Edwin Maysonet would be a better option than Farris. If not Green, then just go with what we have and bring up Gamel for another bench bat.
  21. No, I think the comments were negative because he didn't hit a lick his junior year.
  22. That may be true, but by not putting him in your top 50, your suggesting that it's because theree are 50 impact bats or arms in the system. That of course is not true, there's hopefully 5, maybe none. Your top 50 list is loaded with guys who won't see AA. I'm not high on Davis, but he's a willing worker with a decent bat, he has earned a spot in everyone's top 15.
  23. Similar in what way? Gindl has a .842 OPS and a .366 OBP, Davis had a .948 OPS and a .415 OBP at Brevard County... fairly significant difference there When Gindl played at Brevard County he had an .822 OPS and a .363 OBP ... granted Gindl was only 20 at the time and Davis is 23, but I still see Davis as having significantly more potential than Gindl We'll see how well Davis hits in AA though I'm pretty sure if we moved Gindl to BC next year, when he is the age Khris is now, that Caleb would obliterate those numbers. Davis doesn't have a single advantage over Gindl, including power.
