  1. If he touches 98, I'm not too worried about much else. I've always wanted the Brewers to draft more hard throwing relievers in the 6-10 range. Those soft-tossing sinkerballer starters they usually pick have never helped. Nice to see the Brewers finally Goforth with this.
  2. Sounds like 5th round slot money will be enough then.
  3. Ramirez didn't hit much this year, and hit poorly for Team USA with wood bats. His past production seems to be a product of metal bats. Not an inspiring pick. Seems similar to the Cal 1B they picked several years ago in this round.
  4. Round 3 is the round I think its worth gambling on a tough sign. Pick still has some protection, and the other options aren't comparable in talent. Take a Will Meyers or Tim Mellville type.
  5. Lopez has nice upside for this round. Seems athletic despite his height. said to be signable too. Brewers might have money to spend later, or this will continue last years trend of going cheap.
  6. You realize Home Runs are down 50% right? How is that "unsubstantiated"? Are you suggesting it's coincidence? It's the biggest change in college baseball maybe ever.
  7. Josh Bell, he's going to college. Daniel Norris, a LHP with a big pricetag. Austin Hedges is a highly rated HS catcher with a questionable bat. I couldn't have less interest in him. Hope somebody else grabs him up. I like SS Connar Barron. Big, and can hit. Might end up at 3rd, but that's fine too. RHP Dillon Maples, an athletic pitcher. We seem to do better with athleteic pitchers than big guys. I like HS 1B Kevin Cron in round 3. Cron will cost over slot. EDIT: ListashRides beat me to it. He has Ryan Wright on his list, like him too. Probably a 2B, but he can hit, even has power. Better hitter than a number of college bats already taken.
  8. I've seen him pitch both in college and for the T-Rats. He's un-athletic and doesn't throw hard. He has sink on his ball when it's down, but it rarely is. I have more hope for Arnett than Nelson. So I guess that means I'm not a total pessimist. That's because you pimped Arnett hard when he was drafted. Yup sure did. Loved him, saw him pitch. Total fireballer. Thought he was one of the best in the draft. How he suddenly lost 8 MPH is beyond me. Had a completely different delivery last year, but that was after the velocity drop. By the way Homer, you have any opinions on anyone selected, or any predictions for today?

  10. Verlander? How? His career ERA was more than 2 runs better than Bradley. Verlander had seasons of 2.40 and 1.91, and that's against the old bats. Verlander is an excellent example of how well college production translates to MLB.
  11. Enough of this crap. I slammed the selections of Justin Harrel and Abdul Hodge. You loved Hodge. I correctly identified 3rd rounder Jason Spitz as a back-up in this system. I participated in 1 draft on that board, and I challenge you to find me a pick where I was wrong. I haven't been on that board in 5 years, so you have no idea how I lauded some of the quality selection they've made.
  12. Bradley's career ERA shows he doesn't have a long track record of success. If his ERA was just unlucky, why did his coaches pull him from the Friday starter job? Why does he struggle against the toughest match-ups? Why are you comparing Bradley's ERA this to ERAs of the past when the new bats have clearly altered the game and require this years stats to be curved? Doesn't it concern you at all that Bradley gave up twice as many runs as the top pitchers? Doesn't it concern you at all that other teams passed and Bradly and the team that did select him has zero credibility in selecting pitchers? Can you name me a few college pitchers who have had such mediocre careers that have turned out sucessful? I find it interesting that some of the people who are excited for Bradley were the same people who where excited for Jimmy Nelson, a pick I correctly identified as a throw away. I apoligize for being such a dark cloud on Bradley. I like Jungman even though I don't like gambling on pitching. I remain hopeful for high quality pick in round 2, and there are players available to get excited about today, unlike last year when almost all the talent was gone before round 2.
  13. I don't think either are good fits for Jungmann. It many just be me but I think Heckathorn may be the closest if you got to see him. Has a good power arm and pretty good secondary stuff. He will throw strikes and attack hitters. While he may not completely dominate a game with k's he will not allow many to score and will be very effective. As for Bradley, I think if he adds a fourth pitch he could be more of a lefty Yo. As of right now he has good command of all three pitches and can throw them in any count. He mixes it well and he has a similar fastball that sits 91-94. That is a stretch but Yo is the first person who really pops in my head Jungman compares to Matt Morris on the high side and Mike Pelfrey on the low side. Bradley compares best to David Purcey and Jeremy Sowers.
  14. Wow, sucks for him. I guess he should have took the money we offered him in HS http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Since we didn't get CJ Cron, it now opens the door for his clone, his young brother Kevin.
  16. Connor Barron. Lots of SS grabbed up already.
  17. Story just picked. Haeger, Panik and Martin gone too. Doesn't look good for adding a SS. Just Connor Barron and Jace Peterson left.
  18. Agreed. Who do you like for round 2? Trevor Story? Is Kyle Winkler still available? Ryan Wright?
  19. Bradley has a career ERA over 4 1/2. I'm not sure why some think his stuff is so good. If he has decent stuff why doesn't he use it to get people out? Top pitchers dominate college baseball, he hasn't.
  20. If Taylor Jungman doesn't win everyone over with his dominant college career, how about the fact that he has complete disdain for country music. Kids got good taste. He'll fit in better in Milwaukee than Texas.
  21. Mulders career ERA at Michigan State was 2.71, Bradleys career ERA at Georgia Tech was 4.62.
  22. I'd be happy if they took 2 dominant college players like Jungman., but instead they took a guy who lost his job as Friday starter. CJ Cron dominated college, and he was available.
