  1. My thought was I'm skeptical that the Brewers would move Hart or Braun to 1B in-season. Ishikawa could play 1B full time the rest of the season, and if he plays well, which he might playing full time in Milwaukee, he could be spun off in the offseason, with Braun or Hart moving to 1B, and the OF slot filled be Carl Crawford or Jason Werth. I don't see Neal as much different than Caleb Gindl, they're putting up the same numbers at the same level, and Gindl is a year younger. Nice player, but redundant. I agree. Rather than worrying about their budget, the Rays should worry about how to grow their budget.
  2. I don't think the White Sox have the pieces to get Fielder. I think Prince will end up in SF. Fielder, Bush and cash for Bumgarner, Ishikawa, Michael Main and Waldis Joaquin.
  3. Why would Braun's so-called lack of instincts be a bigger factor at 1B than LF? Why would his athletism help him more in LF than 1B? What I do know is he is really poor tracking flyballs, and thats a pretty big factor in playing LF.
  4. I agree that Gomez needs to play everyday. He can get that oppurtunity in AAA. At least Parra earned his way to the majors with his AAA performance, Gomez was never even a good AA player.
  5. Edmonds is one of the 3 best OFs on the team, and he starts part time, yet the complaint is he plays too much?
  6. Ya, Oliver is very intriguing. Throws hard, was rushed to the majors after just 14 minor league starts.
  7. This is not a worse defensive 3B in baseball than McGehee. Jorge Cantu is the only one thats as bad. Gamel is better.
  8. Detroit just lost Brandon Inge. McGehee fits them well. What does Detroit have that we want?
  9. Edmonds will stay in Milwaukee when Gomez is sent to AAA.
  10. I'd love to hear how Gordon looks in his move to RF, and always want to hear how Gamel looks defensively.
  11. . His low readings came when he taking something off the try to find the strikezone. He's been at his normal velocity when he's in a groove, and has been seen as high as 97 this year.
  12. MLB doesn't allow incentives for production, only playing time and awards.
  13. No GM in their right mind would ever think about trading for McGehee and playing him at 2B. McGehee is just not healthy or athletic enough to play 2B and right now with McGehee he is either a 1B or a 3B. This is why I see the Angels as being a perfect fit for McGehee. McGehee can't play 2B based on what? He was injured last season and was still an above average 2B, and he was terrible at 3rd. Now that his knee is fixed, he's only bad at 3rd, which is an improvement from last year.
  14. Ya, Great Lakes has the best record in all of baseball for a reason. They haven't just roughed up Heckathorn and Odorizzi, they've roughed up everyone. What a relief to see the real Eric Arnett on the mound today.
  15. He hasn't shown any improvement, in fact, he's actually regressed this year. I don't think he's as fast as he was a few years ago. He'll likely only get worse defensively. McGehee would be an awful hitting 1B. His OPS is about 60 points below league average at 1B. McGehee would fit best playing 2B on a different team.
  16. That's grossly inaccurate. It isn't 2007 anymore, Gamel hasn't been that bad since he was in A+. Last year we had a minor league guru who had a method of gaging minor league defense similar to UZR, and it had Gamel a tick below the average MLB 3B, which is significantly better than McGehee. Gamel's small sample UZR with the Brewers was better than anything McGehee has done, though I realize it's a very small sample. McGehee is among the 3 worst defensive 3Bs in the majors this year. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=30535
  17. My hope is Braun's infield experience helps him at 1B. Many players who couldn't cut it at 3B become good defensive 1Bs. Braun was a HS and college SS, and a minor league 3B. He's an infielder. Moving him to 1B, Hart to LF, and getting a good defensive RF improved 2, possibly 3 positions. Moving Braun to 1B and replacing him with Crawford in LF dramtically improves the LF defense, by about 20 runs.
  18. Figured I'd post this so kow doesn't have to again Since Kow posted that Gamel has gone 3-6 with a 2B, a HR, and 2 walks. Hopefully he gets hot and erases any doubt around him.
  19. How about Andre Lamontagne? Just drafted last year, he's already in AA, and has dominated so far. It seems like every draft steal is a small college guy. Can someone confirm my memory, did we have someone here who seen him live this year observe him topping out at 95?
  20. Those guys are mostly brutal. I say Hart to first. Outfielders are easier to find. I'll say Braun to 1st. In the offseason, the Brewers will have more money than they can spend. I'm not sure if either will be a great investment, but the team could easily afford Jason Werth or Carl Crawford.
  21. He's tradable because he is a poor defender and we have a possible replacement in Mat Gamel. McGehee is fairly pedestrian, but like you said, has value because he's cheap and will have 4 years of control after this year. A team might also be interested in him as a 2B.
  22. Rather than hitting Braves players, the Brewers should hit their cowardly manager. How cowardly is it to order someone else to throw at Fielders head, and then lie and say it was an accident?
  23. -Garza is actually under control through 2013. -There was evidence that Blckburn was getting lucky before he fell apart. he's now pitching to his expected results. -Cain will be the starting CF. -Weeks and Hart will get contracts that pay $10,000 a year for their free agency years, in part because there will be few quality free agents available when they hit the market. I do like the idea of getting Garza, and you have my support on that deal.
  24. Cain is off to a great start. 3 ABs, 3 line drives. Shows terrific bat speed. I gotta believe he'll get the start tomorrow, considering Gomez's continuing struggles today. Gomez swinging at the 1st pitch, out of the zone, with the bases loaded was just another example of his lack of baseball IQ.
  25. He didn't play well in CF, but how well could he be expected to play when it was a new position for him? He was a HS SS. 2B was new to him too, as is 3B. No one plays well at 3B without experience. I don't see him as a 3B, but I do see him as a 2B. As we see with Gennett's high error total, switching to a new position takes time. I saw nothing physically missing from Cutter as a 2B last year. First off, Goldstien is a hack. Secondly, he saw Cutter play 1 game. I've seen him more. If Cutter was timed poorly, either he was hurt, or the scouts thumb was too fat for his stop watch, because Cutter never dogs it, and runs very well. He has 13 steals and 4 triples, so there's evidence even if you don't trust my eyes.
