  1. That happens when you pitch in a pitchers paradise. Let those 2 switch team and watch what their stats do. Unless AT&T park lowers whip and ups k rates, my point still stands. So you don't think Parra would nimble less if he knew the flyballs he could give up would be outs instead of homers? Park effects change a players entire statistical line.

  3. I'd assume Bush goes to the Giants as well, and we get something back?
  4. Decent deal, but Sanchez is a bullpen killer with a fake ERA. Typical Melvin deal.
  5. I'll say 7th rounder Austin Ross or 11th rounder Greg Holle, as niether has pitched yet. It sounded like the analysis is part of the physical, which players take upon signing, so it would be someone who hadn't pitched.
  6. Who was the good pitcher he traded for that was a longterm solution? Assuming you missed the part of the article where 24 top pitchers had no trade clauses for Milwaukee in their contracts. Sure, but why not deal for an emerging guy that didn't get his no-trade deal yet?
  7. Daniel Hudson was just traded yesterday, because just like in this proposed deal, they got a veteran starting pitcher back. The Angels have dealt 2/5ths of their roation from a week ago, because they got the pieces they wanted back. The Rays are considering dealing Wade Davis to get the bat they want. Your generalizations are borish and grossly inaccurate.
  8. Exactly. Why did we never trade for pitching? Melvin whines about not being able to land top pitchers in free agency, but didn't he anticipate that ahead of time?Good pitchers have been traded over the last 8 years, proven vets and emerging big leaguers, yet Melvin never landed any of them. Yeah, except for all the pitchers Melvin traded for he never trades for pitching! Who was the good pitcher he traded for that was a longterm solution?
  9. No, if the 1st rounder is protected, we get the teams 2nd rounder. Could be another Yo Gallardo or JJ Hardy. As for the sandwich pick, why do you imply every sandwich pich will be another Evan Frederickson? Maybe the pick could be another Jake Odorizzi, Kyle Heckatorn, or Kentrail Davis? While I too prefer acquiring prospects, if we're taking worst case scenario's, then why bother trading for the next Zack Jackson or J DLR?
  10. The White Sox and Giants are still looking for a lefthanded bat, and the Nationals asked the Giants for Bumgarner. That's rediculous for a rental, and for Dunn. However, it sets the price for Fielder. If the Giants are going to get a bat it will cost them Bumgarner. Bush and Fielder for Bumgarner and Ishikawa.

  12. Who cares? Twins fans, probably. If Mauer blows out his knee and isn't able to play catcher again regularly, you have to give yourself a fighting chance at catcher for the next few years. I don't think Butera has that fighting chance. Ramos wouldn't give them a fighting chance either. He's a soon to be 23 year old with a 625 OPS in AAA. He is simply the most overrated prospect in baseball. I'm still waiting for BaseballAmerica to admit his ranking was a typo. His breakout season last year was a sub-800 small sample OPS. His defense might earn him a spot as a big leahie back-up, if his increasing size doesn't detract from that part of his game too.
  13. Great outing by Mark Rogers tonight. Only 4 baserunners in 7 innings, 2 singles and a manageable 2 walks, with 5 K's. 1 of the singles was an infield hit. Only gave up 3 balls in the air all night, and was was a foulout. 12 groundouts. He was allowed to return for the 7th inning after throwing 81 pitches in the through 6. He needed a good outing after mediocre results lately, and he delivered.
  14. I like the idea of being a buyer for a player we control for next season because its a buyers market. We could get someone for less now than it would take next offseason when more teams will have salary flexibility. Why wait until the offseason to acquire Edwin Jackson if we can get him for almost nothing now? Jackson hasn't been as good as I expected him to be this year, but I still like his talent, and his contract is better than what Melvin would give some over the hill soft tosser in free agency.
  15. I see alot of deals proposed including Scheppers, but I'd rather get LHP Michael Kirkman. He' s in AAA like Scheppers at the same age, and has also has strikeout stuff, but has been more effective, and doesn't have a massive history of injury. I don't see Scheppers shoulder holding up as a starting pitcher. I'd also like reliever Pedro Strop. He has big heat and is MLB ready. He's already 25, but thats because he spent his 1st 4 seasons as a SS. I've lost interest in Chris Davis, but I guess I'd give him 1 last shot. Even if he succeeds, I'd like to deal him after the season and move Braun to 1B and Hart to LF. Whatever package we get will need to include some guys not on the 40 man roster, as were full. We can open a few spots, but 4 might be pushing it. Wilmer Font is a stud younger arm I'd love.
  16. A big no to Tommy Hunter for me. Extreme fly ball pitcher, mediocre stuff, awful strikeout rate. That's the trifecta of stay away for me. And yet he's getting good results in Texas, the toughest place for that style of pitcher to pitch. He's made 32 MLB starts, I think we have a decent look at what his floor is. He's good, though I still think Holland has to be the big fish in this deal.
  17. I like that Sage. Bush and Fielder for a big package including Hunter. Add me to those who would also like Holland. A nugget I'd like thrown in on the deal is Brandon McCarthy. I was always curious what him and Loe would do outside Texas. Loe has been a find, maybe McCarthy would too. Fielders salary is already in the Brewers budget, so paying the rest of it this year isn't out of the question. The team could trade a reliever in a different deal to save some money if they felt they needed to.
  18. Yep, my mistake, forgot they ended the stupid midnight deadline.
  19. That will give Hart 2 games before the deadline. If he plays well in one of them, its business as usual.
  20. Like Doug Davis, Dave Bush, and Randy Wolf? It's thinking like you expressed in your post that resulted in them passing over Garland and Pineiro and instead going for "bat missers" Davis and Wolf. Davis and Wolf averaged less than 7K/9 last year and were trending downward. How are they bat missers?
  21. He had a couple of bad outings with a dead arm, but righted the ship.
  22. Why feel bad for a guy doing a guy doing terrible at his job? He's been here forever and our record is terrible. He was just asleep at the wheel while Dan Haren was given away.
  23. I sure am happy Melvin didn't see any reason to get involved in this. We could have dealt Prince, kept some of the return for ourselves, and used some of it to get Haren.
  24. Carmona is interesting because of his team friendly contract, but his pitch to contact style would get him killed with Milwaukee's pathetic defense behind him. The Brewers need guys who can miss bats.
  25. Gamel hasn't maximised his defensive skill, but he's still a better defensive 3B than McGehee. McGehee isn't maxxing himself out defensively either. If he lost 15 pounds, he might be able to move a little.
