  1. No you didn't; he was originally charged with six, but it was later revised to two. Now its been re-revised down to 1 ER. A pretty awesome offensive performance, lots of time to work on the defense.
  2. Because no one is doing it right now it suddenly a bad move? I think the Red Sox had some success with Ortiz, and the Rays would be infinitely better with Fielder. Also, the Rays are obviously OK with paying a DH, as there still paying Pat Burrel. The difference is Fielder isn't over the hill like Burrel.
  3. If we are comparing his numbers to other Brewers prospects at the same age, then Lawrie is the next Prince Fielder. The Southern League is total pitchers league. Just look at the jump Lo Cain's numbers are taking since he moved up to AAA.
  4. Gomez is probably not the best CF ever (I don't think Al was saying that anyway), and probably not even the best CF of the last 20 years. But I would like to see a list of the "hundreds" of CFs that are definitely better than him.I don't think it is far fetched to say Gomez is better defensively than anybody we have had in the last decade though I think an argument could be made for Cameron. Theres not an ounce of statistical data that suggests Gomez has played better CF for the Brewers than Cameron did.
  5. I got to ask, what was Manuel watching? The play wasn't an out because Yonder Alonso dropped the ball. Did he miss that? Not too many MLB 2Bs make the play Lawrie made.
  6. I hope all the scouts just saw the awesome diving stop and throw Lawrie made in the 3rd inning. Amazing play that got huge reviews from the booth, comparing him to Biggio.
  7. I've seen hundreds of CFs better than Gomez. Best ever? Hilarious.
  8. Worse? Based on what? Hardy, despite missing time with injury, has been worth more than 3 times the WAR.
  9. Davis/Eveland for negative value Estrada was abysmal. Hardy for Gomez was bad. The fact that we've never gotten a core guy is bad.
  10. Ya, him and Odorizzi can ride together to their next destination. Awesome to see these guys dominate. Is Jake becoming another Gallardo?
  11. That's all true, and I agree that Perez will likely finish strong, but I don't see how this is relevant to Fielder. Tampa's DHs this season have hit a laughable 237/304/363/667. Fielder will DH for them. Fielder will have a huge WAR once he no longer has his defense subtracting from it.
  12. I said Gomez has played poorly defensively, I didn't say I think he's a bad defender. He has played poorly so far defensively, not sure how you can argue that, it would be like saying Jimenez didn't start the season hot.
  13. I agree that Upton isn't exciting, but Garza could be outstanding in the NL, and we'd control him for the next 3 1/2 seasons.
  14. Good point. He was showing big improvement defensively last year. What has changed is Weeks then suffered another injury, and has went back to playing dreadful defense. He's become too big to be a middle infielder.
  15. If Weeks is the building block you speak of, then he'll bring plenty in trade too right? I'll let you build around Gomez, I'll build around my 1st baseman, Ryan Braun. Clearly I was not suggesting the Brewers build around Gomez. I was highlighting your suggestion that the Brewers not extend anyone with poor defense. If they did that, nobody on the team would be kept outside of Gomez. Actually, Gomez has played poorly defensively too. Braun is alreay extended, so obviously he'll be here inspite of his defense. Hopefully he's moved to 1B, where he would fit better defensively.
  16. In other words, we should probably forget about Perez or any prospects like him. So Fielders situation is exactly the same as Texeria's was. We should expect a similar return.
  17. So... Build around Gomez? If Weeks is the building block you speak of, then he'll bring plenty in trade too right? I'll let you build around Gomez, I'll build around my 1st baseman, Ryan Braun.
  18. I agree with Jackalope and Invader3K. Move Weeks when the getting is good. No extensions for bad defenders.
  19. Chris Davis is hitting 354 with power in AAA. He'll be the 1B for Texas.
  20. Exciting stuff. Rogers walks a ton, but because he doesn't give extra base hits, especially homers (only 1 on the season), they don't really hurt him.
  21. Actually, Gennet has more errors than Lawrie, has less speed, and an inferior arm. Gennett does have better footwork and softer hands. Weeks is a terrible defensive 2B, no way should the club give him a big extension.
  22. It's not that he get's too much credit, it's that Jack Z get's none of the blame for our complete and total lack of home grown starting pitchers.... while Melvin seems to get all the blame. All-Star Yovanni Gallardo says hi, and Manny Parra adds a polite nod.
  23. Thats a well deserved mention for Scarpetta. What an awesome week.
  24. Dude, that's not even funny. Do you realize how epic that .02 points has turned out to be? You probably, do, and are just making me relive the horror. The Brewers had Mike Trout targeted last year, and the Angels picked him 1 spot in front of us. If we would we gotten the Yankees pick, we'd have drafted Trout, who is having 1 of the greatest 1st full seasons of any HS draftee in recent history. He is hitting 362/453/528 with 43 steals in 51 attempts while playing good defense in CF.
