  1. Andrus has a 684 OPS in a hitters paradise. Thats terrible. He belongs in AAA competing against Escobar.
  2. I don't have anything to add, but I just wanted to bold Escobar MLEs, so Brewerfans aren't surprised when he shows he not ready to hit yet.
  3. It wastes an entire year of service time if they make him the starting SS, because he stay there to open next season, he belongs in AAA to open next season. So he's talented enough to hit MLB pitching, but he can't hit AAA pitching? Is he just chooing to put up an unispiring 762 OPS in AAA? Everyone keeps calling him a 300 hitter, but he isn't doing that either. I'm not the 1 being disingenuous, I'm using simple, easy to read facts. Some were disappointed with Mat Gamel, and his OPS was 171 points higher when he was called up.
  4. Except it did happen. Escobar's OPS this year is just 762, down from 797 last year. The jump from AAA to MLB is much bigger than the jump from AA to AAA. Yeah, too bad he's not good at that either. A 353 OBA in AAA doesn't translate well to the Majors. He'll be a 320-330 OBA guy for awhile, with no power. We already know how that handcuffs the lineup. Again, why not wait until he makes the expected improvement?
  5. Lots of players put up good OPS without hitting homers, but Escobar simply doesn't put up a good OPS. He carries limited value until then. Why call him up until he's better than Adam Everett? If you really believe he won't hit until he's 27, why do you laud him as a good prospect? I think he's a good prospect, but the results show he's not ready.
  6. I'm not being diesingenuous at all. Heether's OBA is .407, in what alternate universe is .354>.407? Runs Scored is produced from OBA and Slugging %, and Bourgeois is completely inferior to Heether at both.
  7. If this is the best he'll ever hit, he shouldn't be in our plans at all, but I don't share your opinion. I think Escobar will be a better hitter at 24 than 22. Most importantly, he'll be a better hitter at 29 than 22, but now we won't have him at 29.
  8. We know what Escobar can do. He's been hovering around a 770 OPS for months now. That translates to a sub 700 OPS in the majors. How does that help us? Counsel could have platooned with Hall. There was no reason to DFA Hall now. That could have been done later.
  9. Yeah, Hardy needs to have less than 172 days of service time this year, and the season is 183 days long. This still doesn't explain why Escobar was called up. Just play Counsel until Ecsobar can hit.
  10. Since when is a mid 700 OPS in AAA good? That only gets you called up in a joke organization like this one. Bourgeois hasn't played RF, and doesn't have the arm for the position.
  11. This does too affect Escobar's service time big time. He should be in the minors until he proves he can hit. He should be called up mid season next year at the earliest. Calling him up now makes him a FA a year sooner, the same blunder Melvin made with Hardy. Melvin has proven he doesn't learn from his mistakes. Time to find a new GM.
  12. Adam Heether should demand his release. The Brewers don't have a clue, and it shoes in their record. Heether has an OPS 150 poibts higher than Bourgeois. What a joke.
  13. Clueless, senseless move. Why call up Escobar? He just hasn't hit well in AAA. How does a 770ish OPS get to the majors? Just let Counsel play SS until Escobar EARNS a spot in the majors. Melvin is making the same mistake with Ecsobar he made with Hardy. No wonder why Gamel is slumping in AAA. he's realized a poor OPS gets you to the majors, like it has for Escobar and Bourgeois, while Adam heether is still stuck in AAA and Gamel didn't get to play when he got called up.
  14. Teams would rather pitcher to Dye than Cameron with Fielder on base because Dye gets out more than Cameron. It doesn't help to talk down to the audience here. The people here not only understand baseball, but they also understand very simple mathmatical concepts, something you don't seem willing to grasp.
  15. What offensive upgrade? Cameron is having a very good year. He's way better than the average RF offensively. I don't know how so many can bet on Cameron regressing when he's improved his OPS 3 straight years.
  16. I'll concede that Brewer has been a colossal disappointment, but that doesn't make Farris a prospect. Brewer will move down in the P50, but they will be a few newcomers that will make fairly high debuts to replace him.
  17. No its not. You don't drive in runs with stolen bases. Don't forget to subtract the caught stealings from his already poor OBA? he doesn't project to get on base at all at the MLB level. You can't steal 1st base.
  18. Yeah, I thought that was odd too. Have they not noticed the size of the pitchers who have been injured? Neugebauer, Gold, Jones, Rogers all are big dudes. My main concern isn't that they can't draft and develop pitchers from rounds 1-2, they just haven't drafted many. My concern is the teams inability to find pitching in rounds 3-10. It seems Melvins mantra of finding groundball guys has really left the team with a bunch of soft tossers who can niether miss bats nor throw strikes.
  19. There still in it. Give them till the end of the month, there sceduale keeps them in it.
  20. I agree, if we're going to be bad at the position, lets at least be cheap, so we have more to spend on pitching. I'd rather have Henry Blanco. He is still a good defender, and he's a better hitter than he used to be. Still not good, but better than Kendall. Blanco is playing for $750 K this year.
  21. I think your way to committed to this idea that a pitcher can only increase his workload by 30 innings a season. A you really suggesting that, even if Rogers pitchers well enough to be in the big league rotation, you wouldn't let him pitch in the bigs if hasn't had a 160 inning minor league season? So much to the point you'd expose him to waivers knowing he'd be claimed? Why wouldn't you just let him pitch and take the chance he won't get injured like tons of others haven't? Gil Meche went from pitching 50 minor league innings to making 32 MLB starts the very next season. Sure, some pitchers have been injured when they've increased their innings, but some pitchers have had injuries without any high risk use. He's still a prospect, he's just not a starting prospect, and that limits his value
  22. Solid addition. I wonder if we'll go with a 12 man staff now? Irribarren has no role, so to me he's the most logical guy to be sent down.
  23. Farris was on a roll at the end of last season too, but it didn't translate into success this year did it? He has a 683 OPS as a 23 year old in A+. Thats not what future big leaguers do. I compare him too Stocker because they both are outstanding basestealers, and bring nothing else to the table. The Brewers have had just 6 4th rounders in the history of their franchise make the Majors. Being an unproductive 4th rounder doesn't make you a prospect.
  24. Teaxas already has the OF to plug into Byrd's spot. Julio Borbon, a former 1st round draft pick drafted with one of the compensatory picks from Carlos Lee, will take over in CF, and they'll move Hamilton to LF to lessen his workload.
  25. In his 8 starts since the FSL All-Star Game, Amaury Rivas has a 1.70 ERA with 48 Ks in 47 2/3 innings. Thats seriously dominant. Rivas ran out of gas at the end of last season, but has a full head of steam this year. His fastball has both good velocity and movement, he's some to get excited about. Jones pitched well through 4, but the wheels came off in the 5th after a long, long AB by monster prospect Jason Heyward.
