  1. http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/replicate/EXID11996/images/zar_ap_thomas_cain.jpg Can't wait to post a picture of Amal McCaskill.
  2. Not sure if this has been discussed anywhere, but what's with a night game on a travel day? Is that the classy thing to do to your opponent?
  3. Good thing the Cardinals aren't at home. A 100 pound decorative panel fell off the stadium and landed on a sidewalk. They've got a week to inspect 160 panels. http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2011/08/01/hundred-pound-piece-of-metal-falls-from-busch-stadium/
  4. Hey, Romero finally drew a walk. I was beginning to wonder if he would go the whole season without a walk. 226 AB, 70 K, 1 BB.
  5. Yeah, the balcony really does stink. Terrible views. I don't think I'd see a show at the Rave anymore, but the Eagles Ballroom wasn't too bad. I remember seeing Alanis and Cherry Poppin Daddies up there.
  6. The one all star game that really bugged me was when Cito Gaston pretty much picked his entire Toronto lineup for the all star game.
  7. Gomez has some options left. Then Kotsay is the backup CF. Not that I'm endorsing this, it just seems like the kind of move the Brewers have been making this year.
  8. Hopefully, this opens up a spot for Dennis to get another shot at Brevard County.
  9. I can't find the link now, but I think it was on jsonline. Doug Melvin thinks he gave up a home run to the Macho Man, when he was pitching in A ball in the 70's. He didn't realize it until he saw his real name, Randy Poffo, but he can't find a box score to confirm
  10. TH mentions this in today's Notes. JS Notes
  11. Gallardo is now the only active pitcher left from the 2008 playoff roster.
  12. I couldn't remember the name, but that sounds like what I did when I was younger. I remember going though a tunnel and coming out onto a deck right next to the falls. It was very cool. I also remember Maid of the Mist. The only other thing I remember were natural gas busses, taking you to various spots along the Canadian side. This was 18 years ago.
  13. Looks like Gamel broke out of his slump in a big way. 4 for 4 with a double and 2 homers.
  14. He says he is 100%, but I'm concerned about his velocity today. I was at the game and he was sitting in the mid-upper 80's in the first inning. For the game, I can't recall anything over 91 or 92. He just doesn't seem right. But I do see from Fangraphs that his velocity was lower in April and started picking up in May last year.
  15. The Nashville clubhouse is going to feel like Milwaukee with Greinke, Saito, Parra, and Morgan all rehabbing there now.
  16. Was Almonte really ever going to see any action in the middle infield, except in an emergency anyway? He was mainly a corner OF and 1B, same as Kotsay.
  17. A couples notes from McCalvy. Parra to get 3 or 4 more outings in Nashville and Stetter is out of options? I thought he had 1 left? http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110423&content_id=18168616&notebook_id=18168624&vkey=notebook_mil&c_id=mil
  18. I agree with you cubfan, no real facts, but it does make you wonder. Were the Black Sox singled out to make a statement, while they looked the other way in previous years? It certainly was a different era when it came to pay. My great grandfather was offered a contract to be a catcher for the White Sox in the 1910's, but he turned it down because he was making more money working at a local factory (AO Smith).
  19. I just noticed something interesting about the top three pitching prospects (Rogers, Rivas, and Peralta). They all missed all of 2007 (except for 9 innings by Rivas).
  20. An interesting read. There isn't much evidence, but some suggestions that the Black Sox got the idea to throw the 1919 series after the Cubs threw the 1918 series against Boston. Story
  21. The key for Braun is to stay healthy (knock on wood). He had a monster start last year before getting hurt.
  22. May have to go see Third Eye Blind for old time's sake. It will be almost 13 years to the day that my wife and I had our first date seeing Third Eye Blind on the Briggs stage.
  23. How can Wheeler play a full season at SS and Farris not even get a short?
  24. Yeah, and he's 27 vs 33, so he's got a better chance of being somewhat productive over the next few years.
