  1. If TH didn't know about it, it begs the question, how long has this been a problem and did the Brewers know about it? The blog also mentions that McGehee had successful knee surgery again. Gamel had successful surgery to remove the sesamoid (?) bone in his foot. And Hawkins is doing physical therapy. All 3 should be ready for spring training.
  2. As mentioned in the major league forum, Estrada and Periard were outrighted. So that's 2 more names available for the Rule 5 draft.
  3. As mentioned in the major league forum, Estrada and Periard were outrighted. So that's 2 more names available for the Rule 5 draft.
  4. Here are the number of starters the Brewers have used over the past 8 years. Between 8 and 12. 2010-10 2009-9 2008-8 2007-8 2006-11 2005-8 2004-12 2003-12
  5. I was a child of the 80's. I was 6-16. 80's cartoons rocked! Voltron, Transformers, Thundercats, He-Man, MASK, Smurfs, Snorks, and many more. Cartoons today stink. There were a bunch of TV shows that were good, too. Some of my favorites: A-Team, CHiPs, Head of the Class, Incredible Hulk, Knight Rider, Airwolf. But I'm not a big fan of 80's music. I didn't really get into music until the 90's. And now I prefer older stuff.
  6. Fielder, Parra and Hart were Taylor draft picks. Not directed at you specifically, but a lot of people seem to credit Melvin with turning around the minors, but the process really started with Taylor. He never got to see the fruits of his labor because he screwed up the big league club so badly.
  7. Someone asked me this yesterday and I really had to think about it. You could make a case for any of the top 5 guys. They've all had their ups and downs. I'd almost be inclined to say Weeks, given the numbers he's put up as a second baseman and lead off hitter.
  8. I had to look it up since it was driving me nuts. I never would have guessed. Every blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. I won't spoil it for those who want to still guess.
  9. Yeah, I almost mentioned Sheets as the one exception. He certainly should have won 15-20 games in 2004.
  10. So with Gallardo's poor last outing, this ensures that Capuano remains the Brewers lone 15 game winner over the last 17 years. That surprised me, when I saw that. But I guess it shouldn't be suprising, since they've only had 2 winning season during that stretch. For comparision, 17 Brewers won 15 or more games in 17 years before that (77-93). The lack of starting pitching pretty much sums up why the Brewers have been so bad during that stretch.
  11. So Capuano remains the Brewers lone 15 game winner over the last 17 years. How sad is that?
  12. My current mortgage is through Bank of America. I started the process of refinancing from a 30 to a 20 year loan. Monthly payments would be about the same. But Bank of America was impossible to work with. They had me jumping through all kinds of hoops. So I said forget it. I have excellent credit, so I'm checking into other options now.
  13. I still use the Schick Tracer razer I got free 20+ years ago. I know, 2 blades was back in the stone age, but it still works for me and I'm too cheap to go with a newer razer with more expensive blades.
  14. I usually don't bother reading Mike Hunts columns, don't know why I read this one. Link The line about not having a reliable centerfielder made me scratch my head. Sure Cain is inexperienced, young, and raw, but not reliable? Odd choice of words. I'd say there are fewer questions about CF going forward than 1B, 2B, 3B, RF.
  15. Another homer here. I only care about the Brewers. If they left, I wouldn't have any reason to watch MLB. I might be able to root for a Milwaukee minor league team, but I could never root for a team in another city.
  16. Of course just as he gets hot, he gets hurt. Hopefully, the hand injury isn't serious.
  17. Yes, PNC bought National City a year or two ago, but just rebranded them in June or July. They also announced that they intend to heavily expand in the Milwaukee marktet over the next couple years, to become one of the top 4 banks in the area. PNC may be a new name, but the local banks have quite a history. PNC bought National City which bought MidAmerica Bank which bought St Francis Bank which bough Kilbourn State Bank.
  18. Yeah, really. Will this be the year that he finally plays in 130 games?
  19. I believe that this very question popped up back in June, 2008 when we had serious flooding and basement backups in the Milwaukee area. IIRC, MMSD simply cannot build a system with the resources available that would prevent all sewage blending and dumping into rivers. The cost estimates given were in the several billions of $'s. I believe that MMSD has two treatment plants but could be mistaken. Not sure what the estimate is to build one but you still have to have capacity to get all the wastewater there. Yes, there is Jones Island and Southshore in Oak Creek. I've worked at both and certainly not a place I like to be after a rain storm. Part of the current problem is that they cannot pump water out of the deep tunnels fast enough to even partially treat it. So they are upgrading the 3 large pumps that pump water from the deep tunnels to Jones Island. I believe they are working on one of them now, since it is supposed to be past the rainy season. So I think that is part of the reason why it is taking longer to empty the deep tunnels. After all 3 are upgraded in the next 2 or 3 years, I think they will have the ability to pump 50% more water out of the deep tunnels.
  20. I just noticed that outside of Smith, the Nashville bullpen is now completely homegrown.
  21. I didn't see this posted anywhere. Corey Hart is now the only Brewer to ever have multiple 20 game hitting streaks. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/97825834.html
  22. Just wondering if Lucroy becoming the main catcher has anything to do with the improvement of the pitching staff? I know it's not a great stat, but he has a catcher's ERA of 4.08, compared to 5.07 for Kottaras and 5.67 for Zaun. The turnover in the pitching staff is part of the reason for the improvement, but it seems they have really settled down since he became the main catcher. Any thoughts on this or is it just a coincidence?
  23. Per Witrado. So they've got a week to decide. I just hope they don't mess up the rotation, now that it has started to stabilize
  24. In fairness to Hart, he probably would have been a pretty good 1B, where he was drafted at. He was only moved because of Fielder.
