  1. He's also hit safely in 23 of his last 24 games, dating back to last year. He started with a 13 game hitting streak, bridging the two seasons, and now he's got a 10 game hitting streak. It's also good to see his walk rate improve each year.
  2. Some nice pitching throughout the organization today.
  3. McCalvy has a few injury updates.McCalvy Capuano should be ready to be activated by the end of the week, probably to Brevard County. Riske should be ready for a 30 day rehab at the end of April Stern (rib-cage strain) is two weeks away Gamel (Shoulder) is a month away,
  4. That's not really true. Now the Brewers minor league system has more pitching than hitting, it's just that most of it is at the lower levels.
  5. I've been using a homemade antenna for about a year in Muskego (posted in the other thread). It's in the rafters of the garage. The fewer obstructions you have, the better (metal, brick chimney, etc). Also, the higher it is, the better. The only channel that cuts in and out is channel 6. I think it is because channel 6 is at a slightly different direction than the rest. The antenna is pretty directional, so you have to play with it a bit to get it aimed just right. Channel 10 comes in fine. Even though it's VHF, it's a very strong signal. The homemade antenna has worked a lot better than one of those powered indoor antennas we used to use.
  6. Yes, they mentioned that in the JS story. So much is being made about the cookies on the flight. Who cares about some stupid cookie? That wasn't what made Midwest special. It was the wide leather seats, gourmet meals, and service. That has all been long gone. I'm really indifferent about the change because Midwest died years ago. But even with the death of Midwest, air travel has never been better out of Milwaukee. Frontier, Airtran and Southwest all competing, driving down fares and adding more direct flights. Frontier will have to fight to stay the top airline in Milwaukee, because the latest numbers show Midwest-Frontier with a 34% market share vs 30% for Airtran. Not much of a gap any more.
  7. I know it's crazy, but Gomez gets optioned and they keep 13 pitchers for a while, given the poor starting pitching.
  8. The numbers show just how little room there is for error. Unfortunately, 30% of the Brewers payroll is in error this year (Suppan, Hall, and Riske).
  9. I guess this is a good place to post this. Attanasio says the team budgeted for 2.7 million fans this year and that they budgeted for a loss, unlike previous years where they budgeted for break-even. They are 30,000 tickets behind last year, at this point. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/90317417.html
  10. They are working now.
  11. The team pages aren't coming up now. They give a java error after a couple minutes of waiting.
  12. The Internet, or more specifically, the World Wide Web. I remember the gopher and telnet days. I could live without TV, cell phone, radio, newspaper, but not the Internet. It's where I get most of my news, weather, sports, entertainment, etc.
  13. NOTE: This is the first of our "Your 2010 ___________ threads. There will be one for each of the full-season teams in place by Monday, when the other rosters are expected to be announced. Within these threads, you will find updates and feature news stories that don't necessarily relate to game action (those would be found within the Daily Link Reports), so it will be an active thread all season long. -- Jim (Mass Haas) *** TH lists the Nashville roster. The one real surprise is 2B Eric Farris jumping up to Nashville. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/89837507.html
  14. Don't book a trip counting on the free dining, though. Disney hasn't announced it for this year and there is no gaurantee that they will keep doing it. They did it over the past few years because of the bad economy to get people to come. Now that the economy is improving, they may not do it any more.
  15. Feb is a great time to go. It's not as hot and the crowds are pretty light. AAA usually has 10-20% discounts on Disney Resorts, depending on the season.
  16. He probably got whiplash from all of those gopher balls.
  17. There are a few pluses for staying at a Disney Resort, which may offset the extra cost. If you stay at a Disney Resort, you can use Disney's Magical Express, which is a free bus that takes you from the airport right to your resort. Then you can use Disney transportation to get around Disney World, which means you don't need to rent a car or pay for parking. Staying at a Disney resort also gives you Extra Magic hours at the parks. Each day a park opens 1 hour earlier and another park stays open 3 hours later just for Disney Resort guests. We usually stay at one of the All Star Resorts, since they're the cheapest. We always see all four parks because they are each so different. Disney also makes it so that adding days to a park ticket is really cheap once you get over 4 days. Adding an extra day is only $3, so the longer you stay, the cheaper it is per day. We usually stay a full week and it still seems like we don't see everything at the 4 parks. The Magic Kingdom is a must for your little princess. Most of the rides are family friendly. Even the few thrill rides aren't that crazy. My son did just about everything at 3.5. You may want to do a character meal at Cinderella's Royal Table, inside the castle. The princesses go around to the tables as you eat. This is very popular, so you should try to make a reservation as soon as you can (180 days out I believe) Animal Kingdom would also be a must if she likes animals. The Safari ride is very cool. You take a jeep ride through the African savana and see all kinds of animals in a natural setting. Epcot has many countries in the World Showcase. You can sometimes find the princesses in their native countries (Snow White in Germany, Aurora in France, etc). There is also a princess character meal in Norway, in a castle. This would be a second option, if you can't get a reservation at the Magic Kingdom. Make sure to use Fastpass. You scan your ticket at the more popular rides and it gives you a pass to come back at a certain time and avoid most of the wait. It saves a lot of time, especially if it's busy. In case you didn't notice, I'm a Disney nut, so let me know if you have any other questions. We also stayed at Disney World for our Honeymoon 10 years ago.
  18. The Mitchell Interchange and the Plainfield curve are under heavy construction now as part of the I-94 rebuild. A couple week ago, they closed some lanes and there is just the left lane going from 894 East to 94/43 North, instead of 2 lanes going North. So it had been backing up for a few miles over the past couple weeks. Now with the Zoo detour, a lot more cars are going through the Mitchell Interchange, to avoid the zoo, making traffic even worse. It's basically a parking lot starting at 60th St.
  19. I'm right off Janesville Rd, which turns into Forest Home. Loomis is more out of the way. Plus, Loomis is scheduled to be resurfaced from hwy 100 to 27th starting in a couple weeks. Either one isn't too bad until you get to 27th St. Then your options are more limited.
  20. This morning's commute sucked. Everyone ended up taking 894 East to 94/43 North. Traffic was backed up solid from downtown, through the Mitchell Interchange and west to about 60th st. I'm not doing that again. People who went through the zoo detour were probably better off. And this was probably a lighter morning, with some people off for spring break. I can only imagine what it will be like in a few weeks, when everyone is back.
  21. The options for getting from the SW to downtown during rush hour really stink now. I go from Muskego to downtown for work. The Mitchell Interchange is a mess now with construction and lane closures. 894 East to 94/43 North has been getting way backed up over the past couple weeks and I imagine it will be a lot worse starting Monday as more people take that way to avoid the zoo. I guess I'll be getting to know Forest Home real well over the next few months.
  22. Well I'm certainly planning on working from home on Friday April 23rd, when all the Chicago fans descend on Milwaukee.
  23. So why is Wolf starting today? That lines him up for opening day, not Gallardo. Link Edit: But MLB says it's Gallardo.
