  1. It seems to me that he just hasn't been right since his big league callup. He only pitches 1 inning in a week and then gets send back down. I wonder how things would have unfolded if they have let Peralta start instead of Estrada.
  2. JS Online has a new poll up. How can they not have Matt "Salad Tongs" Wise as a choice?
  3. There also aren't really any outfielders in A/A+ who would warrant a promotion, except Rogers, and he hasn't played much outfield this year.
  4. I wore a banana suit to the game, because I got high, because I got high, because I got high.
  5. Saw Mat's pic at the top of Yahoo. Funny story. He's out with his family at the Blue Sombrero in Brookfield. A fan thinks they are taking a secret pic of Mat. But he gets back at them by posting a pic of them online. Good to see he's in good spirits. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/gotcha-mat-gamel-takes-secret-photo-fan-took-160623818.html
  6. TH is reporting that Braddock is going back on the temporary inactive list again, so I assume someone will be moving up to fill the spot. Or will they just wait and activate Rogers?
  7. For fun, I took a weighted average of 10 online prospect rankings (20 pts for each 1st place vote, 19 for 2nd, etc). Lists varied from 10-20 prospects. Peralta got 8 first place votes, Thornburg 1, and Jungmann 1. 1 Wily Peralta 2 Taylor Jungmann 3 Jed Bradley 4 Tyler Thornburg 5 Scooter Gennett 6 Taylor Green 7 Logan Schafer 8 Cody Scarpetta 9 Jorge Lopez 9 Jimmie Nelson 11 Caleb Gindl 12 Michael Fiers 13 David Goforth 14 Santo Manzanillo 15 Hunter Morris 16 Orlando Arcia 17 Kentrail Davis 18 D'Vontrey Richardson 19 Khris Davis 20 Nick Ramirez 20 Eric Farris 22 Yadiel Rivera 23 Nick Bucci 24 Amaury Rivas 24 Michael Reed 24 Brock Kjeldgaard 27 Drew Gagnon 27 Austin Ross 29 Kyle Heckathorn 30 Mark Rogers 31 Daniel Meadows
  8. My wife has been on weight watchers for a year and has lost 35 pounds. She got the Biggest Loser Challenge for the Wii in December. I started doing the workouts at a low intensity level. I could tell I was getting in better shape, but I wasn't losing weight. I hadn't really done any exercise since I ran track in high school. I had the gradual weigh creep since then. I was up to 216 pounds at 6'0". Then in January, I started tracking calories on the Biggest Loser game and that made all the difference. I cut out soda and just started becoming more aware of portion size. I measure out servings and always try to plan ahead before eating out. That has been the biggest thing. I usually make bad choices, if I don't know the calories ahead of time. So in three months of tracking calories and moving to the the 2nd hardest intensity level in the game (1/2 hour, 4 times a week), I've lost 24 pounds. I've got another 10-15 to get back to my high school weight. The game does a good job of mixing up the workouts between cardio, yoga, box fit, and resistence.
  9. I immediately wondered which team's "DL" he will start on.
  10. It's going to be interesting to see how they juggle playing time in the outfield.
  11. I don't think it has anything to do with intelligence. It's pretty hard to get comfortable with a pitcher if you never get a chance to catch him, especially a guy like Wolf who may be more difficult to work with. Two years ago, Lucroy was in AA. Last year, he missed spring training. So the only times he really had to catch Wolf were in the middle of the season. I see he has caught Wolf in 3 of his 5 spring starts this year, so hopefully that is a sign of things to come.
  12. I don't have the numbers, but I do know that Lucroy's second half CS numbers were a lot better than the first half. Missing spring training and recovering from the broken finger seemed to affect his throwing in the first half. He was much better in the second half.
  13. That's still going to take some getting used to.
  14. You think it's bad now, just wait until the Zoo Interchange works starts in a few years.
  15. Yes, we love the food at Texas Roadhouse, but we never go there because of my son's peanut allergy. It's one thing to have peanut shells in a big stadium, but to have them all over a restaurant, is too scary.
  16. Actually, I think it's the first time in ages that all surviving Beach Boys are back together. Brian, Al, and Mike were all fighting and doing their own things for years. I actually might consider that. Prices aren't too bad. But I already have my tickets for Zac Brown Band and my wife is going to see Lady Antebellum. Two of the hottest names in country music.
  17. My son has peanut allergies. Luckily, he only has to avoid eating them. Some people can die if they even smell a peanut. We've gone to games, but it does make us nervous when there are peanut shells everywhere. We have to be extra careful that he doesn't touch any. So this will be nice for us. But I do wonder if it would help people with severe peanut allergies. There could be peanuts right across the aisle. On a side note, I was raised not to throw anything on the ground even at a sporting event. We collect our garbage and try to find a garbage can. Are we in the minority here?

WAR numbers are from last year, except for Wainwright.
  19. Braun had a WAR of 7.7 last year. Multiply that by .3 (50/162) you get 2.3. So theoretically, it costs 2-3 wins. Replacing him with someone like Gomez or Aoki, could maybe add 1/2 win over a replacement player over that period. So you're still looking at about 2 wins, strictly looking at WAR.
  20. McCalvy reports that Loe agreed to a one year deal. No number yet. Link
  21. I second that. I need my Dew. Funny story. We were eating at a restaurant. My son asks for a Mountain Dew. The waitress asks "Is Mellow Yellow ok?". If my looks could kill, the waitress would have dropped dead on the spot. "Uh no. I'll have a root beer". The only fast food places I can think of that still carry Pepsi products is Arbys and Culvers. Not a big fan of Arby's, but they have the ultimate combo, Mountain Dew and Dr Pepper.
  22. Yeah, that exact thought occurred to me as well.
  23. Did the switch to center have anything to do with that? I notice that all 4 seasons on the list were at short. I always appreciated Yount's longevity and hustle, but I guess I never appreciated how good he was in his prime.
