  1. I don't consider Cameron a lock. But it comes down to who they can find to replace him and for how much. My point about the bullpen is that by signing CC, they likely won't have money to bring in bullpen help. So guys like Stetter, DeFelice, and Dillard will likely play larger roles in the bullpen next year. Not that that's a bad thing. The cheaper bullpen will likely outperform this year's overpaid bullpen. Signing CC also means you don't have to trade for a starter. The emphasis can then be on trying to improve the offense.
  2. By my calculations, if they pick up options on Cameron and Torres, arby raises, decline Counsell and sign CC for $20 million a year, the payroll ends up around $95 million. That means a minimum salary bullpen outside of Torres and Riske. But a rotation starting with CC, Gallardo, and Parra (ready for a full season) would be pretty exciting.
  3. I'm also a big Heroes fan. I agree that it was a bit confusing at first, trying to remember where everything left off last year. But I couldn't remember what happened to Nikki. Didn't she die last season? (Not that that means anything) I'm looking forward to a full season. It's really the only show I'll be watching until Lost starts.
  4. I just looked it up and I can't believe it's been 10 years with Huntsville. That's after 18 years in El Paso. Pretty stable at AA, while the other affiliates have changed quite a bit over the years.
  5. Except Nelson and Lamb are LH hitters. For RH PH you've got Dillion who hasn't done much this year, Rivera who never plays, and then the recent call-ups (Salome, Rottino, and Escobar) And Hall when he's not starting.
  6. Gwynn becomes the 4th outfielder defensively, but this means Dillion and Rivera become the main right-handed pinch hitters.
  7. I just noticed the amazing stat that Sheets has 3 more at bats than Rivera this year.
  8. Not good when your 1B/cleanup hitter is being out hit by your shortstop and center fielder.
  9. Brewers all the way. I haven't watched a Packers game in 10 years.
  10. No, it was an offhand comment. I started thinking about it after I realized he wasn't called up.It's amazing how similar Gwynn and Iribarren's offensive numbers were this year. But no call-up for Iribarren. But Gwynn probably got it more on his past history, than on his production this year.
  11. Included in the deal will be a new Harley-Davidson Deck in left center and an exclusive "Gate H-D" and parking for HOG members. http://cll.bizjournals.com/story_image/203894-300-0-1.jpg Link to article. Edit: Fixed link... if it gets truncated, sometimes you just have to use text over it. - Toby
  12. Even if they don't play much, it will be nice to have some lefties to pinch hit, besides Nix.
  13. No, that isn't possible at this point. If they average 42,000 over the last 16 home games, they will reach 3.14 million. Remember, the majority of the tickets for the upcoming games are already sold and included in that 3 million number. If they sell out an entire season (41,600), that would put a season total at 3.37 million. So they really aren't that far from selling out a whole season (next year?). Some postseason success could help in April/May of next year.
  14. Favorites: Wisconsin Dells - Essen Haus Madison - Ella's Deli Milwaukee area La Fuente - Great Mexican Food only a few blocks from my work Kopps - Burgers and custard Ghingis Khan Mongolian BBQ Tandoor - Good Indian food in West Allis That's Amore - Better Italian food than the chains Brisco County - The best rotiserie chicken I've ever had
  15. It's kind of like the Badgers, with 30 years of talking about the Rose Bowl they almost won. Once they won one, the past was forgotten. Hopefully, the Brewers can do the same thing.
  16. We've seen Cuban and Canning as pottential Cubs buyers, but now they say Hank Aaron belongs to a group that may try to buy the Cubs. Aaron owning the Cubs? That would be tough to accept. http://www.bizjournals.co.../daily3.html?ana=from_rss
  17. I stopped reading the mailbags after the first week. No inights, just snarky responses to every question.
  18. Agreed. I graduated in 5 years, but I was in the Engineering coop program at Marquette. It may have taken me 5 years to graduate, but I ended up with 15 months of work experience and a full-time job.
  19. Forbes.com has come up with a ranking of 569 colleges and universities according to some goofy rating system. Wisconsin universities didn't fare too well. UW ranked 335 MU 405 UWM 527 MSOE 569 (dead last among those that made the list) The smaller liberal arts colleges did better. What a joke. I'd expect more from a magazine like Forbes. http://www.forbes.com/200..._mn_de_0813best_land.html
  20. It reminds me of the ribbing Surhoff would get for his extended home run droughts. I'm surprised to see how many home runs he hit after he left Milwaukee. But nothing tops Gantner and his 3 straight years without a home run.
  21. Reminds me of a Cubs fan I saw at State Fair. Everyone was having fun in the Kiddie Midway on one of the fun houses. Along the front are hanging bags, like punching bags that kids have to walk through. A Cubs fan was reaching over the fence and holding them out of the way for his kid. Now there are lots of kids there, so the ride operator nicely asks him to step back from the fence. The Cubs fan reponse? "Bleep you, bleep bleep. I'm just helping my kid." The ride operator was just doing his job and there are dozens of small kids within earshot, including mine. I was pissed. I can't imagine going through life with such a miserable disposition.

    Hulu

Thanks for getting me hooked on Hulu. I've been watching Incredible Hulk episodes that I haven't seen in 30 years.
  23. Good point. Reminds me of Marquette basketball, where you hear the same three commericals all season long.
