  1. Escobar likely spends all or most of next year in AAA. So his first full year in the majors (2010) is also Hardy's last year before free agency. Weeks and Hall are free agents the next year, so there's not a lot of overlap. Of course, there will be tough decisions on who to keep.
  2. Did he see this thread? 4-4 with 2 doubles, 5 RBIs and a walk in game 2.
  3. I can't stand those INET commercials. "Creative Genius", "Mee-Wow". That guy bugs me.
  4. I found the numbers. It was bid at $32 million and ended up costing $42 (for 12 shows in the next year). That could have been a good start on a Bradley Center rehab. And you're right. The lack of taxpayer accountability is a big part of the problem.

  6. Franklin Gimble has to go. He seems to be the obstacle to merger. And he'd probably screw up the Bradley Center, if they did merge. Didn't the Milwaukee Theatre boodoggle end up costing something like $60 million, for a venue that's used 3 times a year. Like Milwaukee needed another concert venue. Meanwhile, the Midwest Airlines Center is too small to attract conventions because it wasn't expanded.

  8. Six Flags Great America did something similar for its Fright Fest a couple years ago. I think it was live cockroaches to get free admission for that one day.
  9. His hitting streak was in 1987. It's true that a lot of things went right that year, and a lot of things went wrong after that. Bosio, Molly, Seitzer let go. Replacing Sufhoff with Nilsson behind the plate. Navarro falling apart. Wegman getting hurt again.
  10. Doesn't Huntsville need to remove a player from their roster now? Brevard is still short a position player and West Virgininia is now down 2 players.
  11. Perhaps it was pick the positions from a hat day. Quite a few interesting lineups lately.
  12. I've had good luck in the Terrace family section, not having to worry about drunk fans. I think it's near the small kids play area, too.

  14. Funny, that's been my experience with Steak N Shake, and I've heard the same thing from others. It's good food, but it goes through quickly.
  15. Those kind of comments belong over at the Political board, not here. Just because he's a devout Christian who stays closed on Sundays, does not make him a "weird nut".
  16. Interesting that now Pabst is the number 1 American owned brewer and they're trying to get a lot of mileage out of that. Of course, there's the small detail that they don't have any breweries and that MillerCoors brews all of their beer. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=773456
  17. My dad found out that when Walmart was out of them, Sam's Club still had them. And they were cheaper.
  18. Katin has been mashing lately. Batting averaging is creeping up and he's starting to draw a walk here and there.
  19. Can someone remind me? Isn't outrighting when he gets sent down, but stays on the 40 man? vs DFA'd where he get's removed. I always have trouble remembering this. Can we get outrighting added to the site FAQ?
  20. Late August would seem to be a good time to skip Parra if needed. They've got 3 days off in an 8 day stretch. Otherwise Sheets and Sabathia go 7 days between starts. They really only need to skip him maybe twice to keep his innings under 165-170. He'd get 14 starts if he wasn't skipped and he's got maybe 12-13 starts left averaging 6 innings.
  21. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-all-stars-holliday&prov=ap&type=lgns I'm guessing it won't matter who wins between Hart and Wright because they'll both make it. But I'm still voting.
  22. The main thing keeping Pena back is his walks. He's been better lately, but he's still at 6 BB/9 innings.
  23. The Classic Schlitz is so popular, it's been selling out everywhere. They can't keep it in stock. Schlitz used to be the top beermaker in the world, until they screwed with the formula.
  24. Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that way.
