  1. So when will Adam Sandler do a new version of the Chanukah Song and include Braun?
  2. The only one of the ten expenses that I have are the vending machine snack. I bring a lunch and some snackes from home, but I still get the munchies in the afternoon. I know the cost adds up and it's bad for you, but I gotta have my Peanut M&Ms.
  3. With the way Fielder and Weeks drew walks in the final two months, I predict that the single season walk record will fall next year (99 by Burnitz). Fielder will get walked more and more and Weeks would shatter the record if he can play a full season. The rest of the lineup needs to follow their lead. The positive is that plate discipline and defense are two areas that typically improve as players get more experience.
  4. Second half ERA are telling: Cordero - 2.81 Shouse - 3.08 Linebrink - 3.09 ---------------- Turnbow - 6.14 Spurling - 6.53 Wise - 7.31 The rest are in the middle, but the sample size is pretty small. Too may of the relievers just fall apart when runners get on base. Turnbow has a team worst 20.61 ERA with RISP. If they can't resign Cordero, I hope they can at least sign Linebrink. Otherwise we're left with Shouse and lots of questions.
  5. I ordered my 4 tickets for Game 5 (Oct 7). I was surprised that it was only $25 for Terrace reserved seats.
  6. I am also a winner! Of course the one time I win something, it's probably not going to matter.
  7. When I was there on business, about all I got to see was the USS Constitution. It was interesting. The only other thing I got to see was all the fun construction when they were still working on the Big Dig
  8. Thanks, now I'm going to have the Wiggles in my head all day. "Quack, quack, quack, quack, +$@*-a-doodle-do" "Ahoy there me hardies" http://au.i1.yimg.com/news.aunz.yimg.com/xp/snappermedia400/20051209_wiggles_xmas_10/_2091297.jpg
  9. I think some of it could be related to his conditioning, or lack thereof. But of course that doesn't explain strained fingers or blisters. It does seem like the injury-prone label fits given the random nature of the injuries. Maybe he'll get past it like Jenkins and Molitor did. It is encouraging that he hasn't had elbow or shoulder problems, but it still raises concerns about signing him to a big extension, unless there are a lot of performace incentives.
  10. I estimate the Brewers at about $62 million next year, assuming arby increases, and Jenkins, Cordero, Linebrink, Graffy, Miller and Koskie gone. Getting rid of Mench and Vargas could net another $8 million? So there is money to work with next year. With the huge profit this year, I'd be shocked if payroll wasn't north of $70. So $10-20 million to work with next year. I could see the Brewers trying to resign either Cordero or Linebrink. Or else spending some money on a veteran. Bullpen could be one area where the Brewers spend some money. I could also see Ray King re-signing. If King is a LOOGY, then Shouse could be more of a setup man. I wouldn't mind a Gross/Mench platoon in left. The only way I see Jenkins is back is if he agrees to a lesser deal. I just hope the Brewers don't try to go after some speedy CF-type again. We're probably stuck with Estrada at C again. It would be nice to get a defensive backup. If the young hitters continue to progress, lack of hitting at catcher may not hurt as much as it did in the past (Espcially if Babe Gallardo is pitching).
  11. Have you been watching channel 41 in the evenings, too?
  12. I loved Ireland. I was there a few years ago for business. The people there were so friendly and the country is beautiful. I really enjoyed watching Gaelic football (much better than soccer) and hurling.
  13. Disney has been pushing hard to make Lucas happy so they can get the show for ABC and ABC Family. It could also lead to mini Star Wars lands in some of their theme parks.
  14. I hear ya, Gormans Sideburns. I have a 3 year old son so I typically have a song by the Wiggles or the Doodlebops stuck in my head. "Toot toot chugga chugga big red car" http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eyes.gif But he's also a Weird Al fan, so at least some of those songs push the annoying songs out of my head once in a while.
  15. I was at the Rick Dempsey game. Boston was killing the Brewers something like 16-4. Dempsey didn't do that bad. I must have blocked out the other pitchers, because I don't remember much else about the game. I remember hoping that Molly would pitch. I think he had played every other position at some point in his career (except catcher).
  16. It seems to be a generational thing. My dad and grandpa always carried one. I've always been a Kleenex guy. It doesn't seem like too many in my generation (genX) use a handkerchief.
  17. Yeah, I was referring to the two injuries together. Both related to the hand/wrist. I was definitely more worried about Weeks going into this season than Hardy, just because Weeks injuries were somewhat related and injuries that could effect the source of his tremendous bat speed.
  18. We went throug the exact same thing a year and a half ago. We put our German Shepard-lab mix down at 12 years old. The last year was pretty rough. Had a lot of trouble getting up and would fall sometimes while walking. The vet said one of the back legs had nerve damage and there wasn't much they could do. She also started having frequent accidents inside the house. We still haven't totally gotten rid of the smell in the family room carpet. We'll probably have to get it replaced. The final straw came when she started growling at my then 1 year old son. My son usually just wanted to pet the dog, but she wanted nothing to do with it. It came to the point that we knew she was in so much pain that her life was miserable. Nothing made her happy anymore. We didn't want to spend a lot of money because we figured she was pretty old for a large dog and wouldn't live much longer anyway. It's difinitely a very tough decision, but we felt we made the right choice in our case. Good luck.
  19. The big question is whether he'll ever get back to where he was prior to the wrist injuries. Wrist injuries can have a long-term effect. No doubt he was a special hitter prior to getting hurt. Can he be that player again? And if so, how long will it take him to get back to that point?
  20. Hardy was showing some signs of coming around before getting moved to the 8th spot. But I'd keep him there for now. He just doesn't walk enough to be in the 2 spot. Amazing that Weeks and Hardy's OBP is about the same, but their batting averages are 65 points apart. Plus, the current lineup gives them their best base stealers at 1-3.
  21. Hart had a couple 30+ error seasons at third and has turned into a pretty good outfielder.
  22. Homer: This ticket gives me the right, no the duty to make a complete ass of myself. Homer: Shut up brain or I'll stab you with a cue tip Krusty: Ehh, I could pull a better cartoon out of my ehh heh heh heh, wasn't that great kids?
  23. Having St Louis as 3 of the weekday games in September should help. I've been wondering if the Brewers could ever sell out a season like Cleveland did in the 90's if they become regular contenders. That would be 3.4-3.5 million over a season. The biggest challenge would be selling out April and May games.
  24. I've been without cable for 6 years now and I don't miss it at all. I guess part of it was because I grew up in Montana with only 2 channels. We even went a number of years without a TV at all. But I couldn't do without the Internet for very long. I tried to give up the Internet for Lent this year. I was only partly successful. I didn't use it at home and got a lot done around the house. But then I found myself using it more at work, so that was no good. The only time I'm without the Internet is when I'm on vacation for a week. But then we're so busy having fun, that I don't miss it.
