  1. It's been a fun year. How many guys have Huntsville and Nashville lost, yet they keep winning? The organization is now an amazing 92 games above .500. But it's a little different watching the minors now than in the past. Most of the "can't miss" prospects have made it to the Brewers. Most of the top prospects are younger and a few years away from the majors now.
  2. So do today's moves finally get Salas to Nashville?
  3. 15 days puts Sheets comeback right after the double-header. So I count 3 starts until then. If Gallardo starts all three, that only leaves him with about 8 more starts in Aug/Sept/Oct. Parra has as many innings as Gallardo right now, and is probably under a tigher limit, so he's in the pen. Does Villaneuva get the call if they are really worried about watching Parra and Gallardo's innings?

  5. They couldn't have delayed the rehab assignment for 2 more weeks? Then he could spend 30 days rehabbing and be called back when rosters expand in September. No roster move needed then.
  6. Could they come up with a way to open some of the windows along the first and third base side, under the roof? They'd have to automate it some how, but that could give the stadium some cross ventilation.
  7. Closing it on a hot summer day for shade just wouldn't be 'basebally'. Unless you're Houston. Then you need a roof and AC to beat the crazy summer heat.
  8. I'm wondering about this after going to a family reunion today. I brought along a tee and nerf balls and bat. My 3 year old can hit pretty well off the T and rarely hits the tee. (as long as he doesn't do his full body windup). He can hit them pretty far. Other kids older than him barely knew what to do and were knocking over the tee every time. Do kids play baseball any more? I used to play it all the time growing up, but it seems like kids play soccer or some other sport now. Or is my son just a prodigy http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif He bats righty, but seems to throw better lefty (knock on wood). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. I've been keeping track of the minor league records since 2000. My records show that Arizona was 16-12 (2nd place) in the first half of 2001. That year was also their closest to .500 for a season at 27-29. That was their first year, after the Brewers had to dump one of their 2 Pioneer league teams, due to the new rules. I can see why they made the rule, as the Brewers would send the advanced guys to Ogden and the Helena would get beat up because they had the young guys. They went 14-14 (5th place) in the 2nd half of 2002. 15-13 (5th place) in the first half of 2004.
  10. Keep in mind that JJ, Capuano and I believe Estrada are eligible for arbitration next year. Also, Vargas, Mench, Shouse, and Wise if they are around. And big decisions on Jenkins and Cordero. But they can save $9+ million when Koskie, Graffy, Miller and Dessens come off the books. If everyone gets arby and either Jenkins or Cordero is resigned, payroll is probably at $70 for next year.
  11. I saw the Singing Bee premier and it was horrible. N'Sync dude is horrible as a host. I also thought the choice of lines was all over the place. They pick a pretty tough line for one person, then the next person would get a line that any monkey knows.
  12. Will Inman is putting up those kind of numbers without a right forearm? That's crazy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Wasn't he Cirillo's mentor back when he first came up? Yes, he was. And I remember how mad I was when they traded him the first time and put Surhoff at third. Didn't they trade him for Kevin Reimer? At least they got him back.
  14. Just got back from a week's vacation in the Madison area. Too bad we just missed the exhibit.
  15. Maybe this will turn out to be another Franklin for Villanueva deal. Or a Woolard. But good glad to get anything for Capellan.
  16. Hart, Braun, and Fielder all had at least 20 runs and 20 RBIs in June. When is that last time 3 Brewers did that in a month? There haven't been too many times recently where one player did that. HR/RBI/Run Hart 9/21/28 Braun 6/21/27 Fielder 8/23/22 Hart and Braun scored 55 runs this month. They each scored over a run a game. Braun is on pace to score a hundred runs in a little over 100 games (107 runs in 114 games if he plays every game). And when is the last time they've won 17 games in a month? I know they've won 16 games 4 times this decade, but not 17.
  17. We're on pace for 37 road wins, which is a 10 game improvement over last year. We're also a sweep away from being .500 on the road (not that I'm predicting anythinghttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ). I think looking at differentials is flawed. Good teams will win a ton at home and be around .500 on the road. They had a 30 game differential in 1978 and a 28 game differential in 1992. Both years they won 90+ games, and were only 3 game under .500 on the road. It's skewed this year because they have been insane at home. They're on a record 56 win pace at home.
  18. Nothing too serious this time, just couldn't closed it in time.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Since the roof still isn't fully automatic yet, they couldn't get it closed quickly enough when a sudden rain shower came by. Sent players and fans running for cover. I guess that's why they have a tarp. It would be nice to get the roof problems solved for good this time. Link
  19. Braun needs 20 ABs to graduate, so he should just have enough by then. I'm interested to see where Gindl falls. Youngest hitter in Helena and the only one hitting.
  20. I recall Bray having almost a walk and inning early in the year. I think the walks have dropped quite a bit lately.
  21. So Cecil finally speaks out and says Prince is the one with the problem. How about you act like a father and earn that respect? Take a good look in the mirror. AP Story
  22. Why is Turnbow in with a 5 run lead?
  23. I don't remember the specifics, but I do know that it was cheaper to order 4 tickets over the phone than it was to order them online, earlier in the year. And the people are great.
  24. Speaking of rookie leagues, what ever happened to the proposal to eliminate rookie ball? Making the Pioneer a Shot-Season league. Appalachian league would be a co-op league. And the AZ and GCL would become extended spring training.
  25. I have also had good luck at Kesslers. They have fixed and cleaned the rings without any hassle. Watch out for some of the other places that will void the warrantee if you do not bring it in every 6 -12 months.
