Escobar finally gets an extra base hit. He's been a singles machine. Braun and Rottino are just putting up silly numbers right now. Nice to have guys like that waiting in the wings. But I can't imagine Braun will be in AAA for a whole lot longer. And the Brewers organization is now 30 games over .500. No weak links this year.
Bray has looked good, except he is giving up almost a walk an inning. Sarfate was looking better until he blew the game yesterday. I would guess that Aquino gets sent on a rehab assignment for a few weeks and then they decide if he gets the call or someone else. I wouldn't mind giving Thatcher a shot. He's been lights out and it would be nice to have another lefty.
Chavez putting up some respectable numbers, especially compared to what some of the older guys are hitting. I guess he finally got all of those splinters pulled out of his behind from spring training. Rottino continues to rake. Is Sollman trying to make sure he never has to repeat a level again? OBP over .500!?
Corporan with 4 hits today to raise his average to .380. He was probably the big loser in the Hendrickson trade. Otherwise, he'd be paired with Captain Lou in Huntsville right now.
All in first place and a combined 20 games over .500. It seemed like in most recent years, they'd be a combined 20 games under .500 by now with a team or two tanking early. The minor league teams haven't finished above .500 since 2001.
It's amazing how well Nashville is doing. Rottino and Braun are the only two hitting right now (Nelson was heating up too, but he hasn't played in a few days). But the pitching and defense have been outstanding. Really, the defense has been pretty good at every level. Gamel and Brewer are about the only two who are commiting regular errors.
I noticed an interesting stat for Brevard County. They have the highest OBP in the league, dispite drawing the fewest walks. I guess it helps to have a batting average 20 points higher than anyone else.
Two straight outings for Sarfate without a walk. Hopefully, it's a sign that he has found the strike zone. 3 more walks for Sollman for 13 on the season. That Huntsville team is drawing a crazy number of walks so far. And good to see Captain Lou back on track. OPS over 1.000.
With a Brevard County win today, all 5 teams in the organization would be in first place. I know that hasn't happened in recent history. I wonder if it ever happened in the 80's?
It seems like Yost is teasing us with the lineups recently. Keeping 1 or 2 of the opening day starters out every day, so we won't see what the final batting order will look like. Could this be the opening day lineup with Jenkins in for Gross? Would Jenkins bat 7th or would Hart?
I also believe that buying a ticket to an act at the Marcus Amp. includes admission to Summerfest. Many acts recently have been charging for grass seats. I seem to recall prices for the few announced acts going for $25-$80. As for when tickets go on sale, you'll have to check the concert announcements. They usually go on sale shortly after the concert is announced.
I'll hold my I told you so's until after he puts up some numbers, but I think Joe is "big league ready" from both a skills and maturity standpoint! I think most people here were scratching their heads, wondering why he spent so much time in West Virginia last year (or why he was there at all).
