  1. the only concern I have with Cameron is a post I saw on Primer where the poster (forget who) talked about how few guys Cameron's age made it through a season as a CF. The list for all of baseball history was like 11-12 guys. I hope Mike can be one of the few, but apparently a lot of CF's fall off the cliff at his age.

  4. wow, his agent's name is slade. Teen Titans is ok, but I wouldn't name my kid after a character from that comic. Aquaman or above for my kids!
  5. I voted, but it looks like Todd & Mandy are catching up. They only trail 21% to 24%. I'll try to get in some votes on my other computers, if that's not considered cheating (don't want to blow it for your brother).
  6. What is beer butt chicken? Do you put the beer can up the chicken's butt? If so, why? There are easier ways to keep poultry juicy. Also, Berry Weiss tastes like rotten Mixed Berry yogurt. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. I found an interesting article (that you may have already seen), that lists a couple more possible causes: water filter replacement or amateur pipe installation (which you say is the case) which led to different size pipes or over-soldering that limits water flow. He says that the problem is often a defective fixture though. Maybe try replacing that. link: http://www.naturalhandyma...m/qa/qawaterpressure.html He also has a link to Popular Mechanics on how to improve your water flow if you are on a well system.
  8. This happened at my apartment recently. The caretaker kept claiming that the problem was the screens and that nobody else in the building was having any problems, when that clearly wasn't the case, as even the laundry room had piss-poor pressure. We had to shower with a big cup so we could rinse our hair, which was a problem because the great water pressure was one of the main reasons we chose the building we did (I take water pressure seriously). A plumber came over and emptied the screens (which I could have done and which were 99% clear) and claimed that took care of the problem. It didn't. The plumber came back and checked to make sure the pipes were turned all the way on (they were, of course), claimed that they weren't, and said that took care of the problem. It didn't. We called him again and he came over and changed some of the various gaskets and claimed that would solve everything. It didn't. He came back and changed some of the faucets, claiming again that that was that. It wasn't, of course. The water throughout the apartment was still atrocious. Just when we were about to move after a week or two, the pressure miraculously went back to previous levels. They claimed they didn't do anything, but I have to believe other people started complaining and they fixed some problem with the boiler or whatever. Not sure why the plumber kept claiming he had fixed the problem when he clearly hadn't, but oh well. Anyway, I sympathize big time. Having no water pressure makes it difficult to do many things. I wish I could offer a sure-thing fix, but all I can really say is to try some of the things the lying plumber who came out to my place tried: screens, water shut-offs (you've tried that already though), gaskets, faucets.
  9. Not sure I agree that Nelson will be a nice bat off the bench. An OK 25th man? Maybe. An asset? I don't really think so, especially considering his defensive limitations. You could make a case that when defense is considered, Tony Gwynn or a guy like Nix or Crabbe (who are both no longer in the org but could easily be reacquired) would be a far better option off the bench.
  10. I wonder where Blanco will go. Paul Bako sure sucks, not sure why anybody would care that the Cubs signed him (his career OPS against Milwaukee is .577, compared to his career .622 overall). Unlike Blanco, he's not even good at defense. He'll help the Cubs lose some games, which is good for Milwaukee.
  11. On a related note, I heard that the NBA is going exclusively to flash-drive media guides next season. I can't decide if that's a good idea or not. One benefit is that it will cut down on Tom Hammond's profiteering by selling extra copies to book stores.
  12. (TB - H + BB + SB - CS) / AB
  13. WHIFFEY IS NOT YOUR SAVIOR!! had to do it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. I kind of hate Sean Casey for some reason, so I hope this doesn't happen.
  15. Sad. Harden's like Sheets in that he's excellent when he pitches (even better than Sheets, really) but he never makes it through a full season. I always root for those guys to get healthy, but it doesn't seem to happen too often.
  16. The Cubs are great at devaluing their top prospects to the point where they are worthless. If you aren't going to give Pie a fair shot, why not trade him before it's obvious you don't think enough of him to do so?
  17. In fairness to the Angels, Angel Stadium's capacity is a little over 45,000, while Dodger Stadium holds about 56,000. Angels: 91.5% of capacity/game Dodgers: 82.2% of capacity/game That's a good point.
  18. That does seem plausible, judging from attendance: Angels, 100 wins, 3,336,747 attendance Dodgers, 84 wins, 3,730,553 attendance (5,000 more per game) OTOH, both finished 2nd in attendance in their league to the NY teams. Also, the Angels have been over 3 million all 4 years since they changed their name to LA after only being over 3 million 2 times in the previous 44 years of their existence. However, those 2 years were the 2 seasons immediately preceding the name change and following a WS win.
  19. Bradley led the AL in OBP and OPS last year. It wasn't even park effects, he also led in OPS+. 2007 & 2008 are Milton's best years, but I don't know that they were flukes. I think he's a good or even excellent signing assuming he can play 120+ games per year (which is a big assumption in his case). This makes the Cubs a lot better and really hurts the Brewers chances.
  20. Good deal for the Rays, not sure why Pat the Bat wouldn't have waited till Ramirez signs and seen where the market went from there. OTOH, I guess he felt the offers could dry up if he waited any longer. $8 million a year seems like a pretty fair price considering Burrell's defensive woes, but it's insane to think guys like Jose Guillen have gotten deals that dwarfed this one. Pat just had the bad luck to become a FA in a year where teams are scared of the economy and/or colluding. Hopefully the Brewers can snag a good deal or two as well.
  21. I'm happy for him if it's true. His MLE last year would have made him one of the top few hitters in MLB. I don't know that we can trust that because of the same reasons we can't necessarily trust Branyan's MLEs, but Cruz seems to be a legitimate major league slugger. We'll find out for sure in 2009. Bill James has him projected at an .885 OPS for 2009, which would be excellent.. Also, I disagree that Cruz is only a DH, he can play a corner with no problems. His UZRs are well above average or even outstanding (+12 per 150 games) and suggest he could handle CF. He also is known to have an extremely strong arm.
  22. Seems like a nice move for the Angels. $8 million a year is not too bad for a good closer and the deal is only 2 years. He's not nearly as good as K-Rod, but he's pretty comparable to Francisco Cordero (who got a much bigger deal last off-season).
  23. If Miles can hit, so can Counsell. Miles' carer OPS+ is 77 and Counsell's is 78. I'm not saying the Brewers got a good deal on Craig.
  24. This is just their Craig Counsell move, I'd have to think. I'm not jealous about this at all. If they actually want to play him a lot, so much the better for Milwaukee. The bigger problem is that the Cubs are rumored to be on the verge of signing Milton Bradley, who led the AL in OBP and OPS last season. He doesn't usually play many games because of injuries but when he is on the field, he is very good.
  25. It's always smart to let corporations do whatever they want to your city.
