  1. Donnelly will have Tommy John surgery and thus his season is over. Per Tito and Theo on NESN. Now it all makes sense...
  2. I think Lilly is due for some regression to the mean.
  3. For whatever its worth, the BABIPs of Turnbow and Cordero are .290 and .347 respectively, a bit high. My feeble memory seems to recall a bunch of bleeders and dinks leading to Cordero's blown saves, but every hit that Turnbow to give up being a rocket. Both pitchers seem to live and die with their slider. Cordero is more prone to burying it and ocasionally hanging it, where Turnbow will lose confidence and regress to a one pitch pitcher. I don't think there's any doubt that a stronger up-the-middle defense would help Brewer pitching, but it's hard to surmise that it would have saved the handfull of late inning meltdowns the bullpen has experienced recently. Perhaps some improvement could be needed in Ned's usage of Counsell. It seems like he could be brought in via the double switch more often, serving as both a pinch hitter and defensive replacement.

  5. I guess Team Canada believes that Inman won't be that good, and/or that this year's team will be the better than the next 1-2 years, both which are reasonable gambles, in my opinion. On the sunny side of things, Linebrink is an elite reliever and should give the Brewers some value for a few more years, even if you believe that he's reached his peak.
  6. LETS GO CARDS
  7. Weeks is riding the pine because he didn't wear his socks up, right?
  8. From what I have heard there is concern that he hasn't changed his delivery.
  9. Kerry Wood has been throwing as hard as 95mph, and has had two very good rehab starts. He's slated to return "in two weeks, if not sooner". Should we be concerned? He looks to bolster a bullpen that has had some bright spots in Marmol and Wuertz, and recently regained their closer in Dempster.
  10. Noticed on my ticket that this is home game #49. I hope this spells good luck for Gallardo, not Sharpie.
  11. In other news, Dayrle Ward gives Manny Ramirez a run for the money in the baggiest uniform category.
  12. Could Matt Cain and Ryan Klesko please get into a fistfight?
  13. I will agree that the lot was in dire need of repair. Huge potholes to dodge while driving, which filled up with water whenever it rained.

  16. You just can't make this stuff up.
  17. It seems to me like when outfielders rob home runs, it is jumps that are up into the air, launched from the flat ground, not the ones where they use the padding of an outfield wall to boost themselves up the wall. Ichiro!'s catch of last or the previous year serving as an exception. It does seem like Hall tries to catch balls that he has no chance of catching. I seem to recall another HR to dead center field where he landed a bit funny and had the wind knocked out of him for a couple minutes.
  18. Ouch. This seems like the worst kind of injury for a center fielder to have, although at this point we don't know the extent of the structural damage. Given Hall's less than optimal routes to balls I can't imagine him coming back at less than 100%. The depth of the outfield is a huge lifesaver here, but it's one less thing that DM has to offer at the deadline. Here's to hoping that Gwynn can handle playing any day. If he can't, is Brady Clark available to fill in the other side of the platoon? Here's some semi-flame bait: If Hall wasn't so preoccupied with making a dramatic, flashy play would he have been injured?
  19. Grittyness: B -- Corey Hart and Ryan Braun making lots of work for the Brewers' laundry crew. Gusto: A- -- Prince Fielder belly flops into 2nd base. Nuff said. Fight: C- Prince gets nearly beaned and the only thing he can do is hit home runs? Pshaw. Clutch: B+ -- No dives into the stands or walk-off HBP's yet, but there is still a lot of baseball to be played. Veteran Leadership: B- -- Jeff Suppan and Craig Counsell do the best to fill the void left by fomer 20 game winner Rick Helling. Geoff Jenkins content to remark about how glad he is to not be on a losing team anymore. Manufacturing Runs: C- -- Assistance from OSHA and/or ISO 9000 might be beneficial. Turning Outs into Outs: B -- Major League Baseball has recognized all the outs the Brewers have recorded as official outs. Butt Pats: B -- Nothing to complain about there. Err, what did I just say? Managerialification: C+ -- Ned Yost has strategized to the best of his ability. On-Field Reporting: F-- -- FSN heard our cries about Bob Brainerd, then finally managed to find someone worse. Sausage Races: B -- The Chorizo needs to be sent to a wind tunnel so his costume can be redesigned so he has a prayer at winning.
  20. The fact that they received media coverage and lots of other coverage (like this thread) makes their walkout a success on some level in my book.
  21. Trying to find tickets at a somewhat reasonable price, with not much luck.
  22. He did mention a recent interview that he's working on getting his plate discipline back. Hard to argue with his hacktastic approach when it's producing results right now, but it's reassuring to know that he's concious of what he needs to improve.
  23. In an interesting turn of events, the guy sitting next to me just took a sip of my beer.
