  2. ned's like a pool shark. yesterday's game was just the start of the hustle. we got these tigers right where we want em. now cappy needs to quit pitching like every batter he faces is a member of the 27 yankees.
  3. Holy Crap! How has Verlander ever lost a game? Soup seems to be throwing well. Inge hit a good pitch and had a great at-bat. I think that 1 run might be all the Tigers need. Not sure I see the Crew getting a run...at this point I'd be happy with a hit.
  4. I'm going to put on my #4 jersey and try and think like Ned. Please bear with me. This is Ned talking not SBS. Channeling Ned now...kinda like Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost. Yes...Here it comes.... "I'm going to with the griddy veterans tonight Graff and Couns over the rookie, because you need experience and discipline against a hard throwing high strikeout guy like Verlander. Plus, I like to give players back to back days off" _ Yoster
  5. You know everytime Soup's splits are posted in the gameday threats they seem to be bad. I guess thats for a few reasons. He's been around so long, almost every team is bound to have a few players with good splits against him The guy pitches to contact and gives up hits. The key here is to not give the opposition extra outs with poor defense like in his last start against the Cubs. On the positive, at least he's had success against Sheffield. Though the law of averages tells you Sheff is due.
  6. Just need to take 1 of the first two and then with the way Benny is tossing I'll take my chances with Sheets on Thursday. Soup actually has decent splits at Comerica. That just seems like his kinda park. Comerica Park 3.67 ERA 3-1 W/L 8/8 G/GS 54.0 INN 52 Hits 22 ER 18/19 K/BB .252 Avg Against sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/players/5454/career_by_all_pitching_splits.html
  7. Yeah. He's not scheduled to start again until Saturday. So I guess, he could even throw 20 pitches or so on Tuesday if needed. Hopefully not, but I imagine he'll be in the pen Tuesday too.
  8. agreed. the way sheets is throwing these days i'd likely take him over any starter at the moment...sans josh beckett, maybe.
  9. You know you might be right, but I got a theory. Take 1 of the first 2 in Detriot and then I'll take my chances with Sheets on Thursday. We miss Johan Santana in Minnesota. Not that that was a huge bonus when we played them last month, but I'd still rather take my chances against the guys not named Santana in that rotation. We have 6 games left on the trip. 3 wins is possible. Thats all I'm asking for. No need to get greedy. That would keep us at +5 going into a 9 game homestand against (SF, KC and HOU).
  10. Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! No need to get crazy, Yoster.
  11. Is his only hit the HR in the first game? Nope. He's actually hit a homer and 2 singles tonight, too. I agree prince has been doing a tad more hacking, but Hardy's approach is the one that'd really scare me
  12. Geoff! I knew you were my favorite Brewer for a reason!
  13. Braun is so good opposing players cant even field balls hit by him
  14. Someone remind me why Villy isnt in the rotation. Though the guy has been so valuable out of the pen. Not sure I'd want to move him
  15. And for the record, screw you CB Bucknor...we really needed that run. Exactly. Doesn't CB wanna go home? He's been at the park for like 6 hours or more probably. Speed this thing up. Plus, he was safe
  16. dear lord. why do you toy with us like this?
  17. Cut down at home? Lofton can still throw? They walked Counsell to get to Hardy. Guess they want the force at any base (besides home)
  18. This Estrada guy likes the 7 hole. Memo to Yost...Keep him there
  19. If Prince gets him over, Harts fly to LF scores him. Curses Arlington TX. Hopefully, we get thru the 10th. The Estrada- Hall-Graffy portion of the line-up is like guaranteed to produce a run
  20. Braun! Thats how you start an inning. Lets win this one for Coco
  21. alright. put villy in and let him go as long as possible. i guess we could do that with vargas too. his next start is saturday...i have more faith in villy though
  22. Again. I find myself cursing Byrd did that on 0-2 again.
