6-0 Nats. Lets not blow that...please. Chico is pitching well...he actually pitched well against the Crew after surrending a 3 run bomb to Jenks

Gotcha. Thats right. Thanks for the correction. So now, though, both Villy and Yo are out for Wednesday. So we need Vargas to at least get through a minimum of 6 tommorrow. Tim Redding against Zambrano tonight. That looks bad on paper...

Is that how they say it?? I think if Yo had started today...they'd be saying coming back after 3 days rest. I think they count rest days as days he was not on the mound (Sat-Sun-Mon).

The Brewers just look mentally checked-out. I think after going 7-1 against them in previous meeting this season, they had forgotten the Pirates were a real team...with uniforms and everything. They need to re-group fast with two very good Pirates starters looking at em in the next 2 games in Snell and Gorzelanny

Good Lord. Thankfully this game wasn't on FSN Wisconsin. Kids all over the State would be ruined after watching this defensive display.
  6. SlideBernieSlide
Yo seems a tad toasted. How many pitches can we expect him to throw after throwing 85 just 3 days ago?
  7. SlideBernieSlide
This has to be the worst defensive game played by the Crew since the days when Izzy Alcantra and Alex Sanchez patrolled the outfield
  8. SlideBernieSlide
Lets get a win for Yo! Nice pitching there. His curve wasn't getting over for strikes, but the guy threw 85 pitches just 3 days ago...so I wasnt sure what to expect
  9. SlideBernieSlide
Its Yo time! Lots of rust on Capuano. Hopefully that'll work itself off in Washington on Sunday. What a horrible 0-2 pitch to Bautista

Nice work Cappy. Your defense made you have to get 6 outs in the 3rd, but you still held the Pirates to 1 run. Excellent Work. I guess the Brewers are looking forward to the Live concert at PNC following the game. "Lightning Crashes" baby Youman...You've Been MENCHED!

    Defense? Where you at?

Hardy must be sore or hurting? Why else start a lefty at SS vs. lefty? What does Youman feature? Anyone see this kid last year? I know Pittsburgh has or has had a lot of pitching propects of late...Bullington, Gorzo, Maholm, Snell, Burnett, Felix etc. But for some reason I don't know much about Youman?

Time for a little interesting tidbits. Capuano will be pitching against the organization that originally drafted him out of high school. Chris, instead, decided that a mind was a horrible thing to waste and took his Valedictorian brain to Duke University. Duke Baseball bio Cappy's Freshman Year "Freshman from West Springfield, MA. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 44th round of the 1995 draft. High School: A 3 time letterman at Cathedral High School....selected the Division 1 Pitcher of the Year in Western Massachusetts his senior season.....was 15-1 over the course of his last two seasons, including an 8-0 mark his senior season....registered a 1.00 ERA with 110 strikeouts in 63 innings.....struck out 16 in one game.....was named the Most Valuable Pitcher of the Massachusetts/Connecticut All-Star Game played at Fenway Park.....Valedictorian of his 305-member graduating class. www.kettleers.org/bios97/capuano.htm http://www.kettleers.org/bios97/photos97/chriscapuano.gif

I was thinking the same thing. Though the guy got through 3 innings with 33 pitches, which is amazing in itself. Given the low pitch count...he might be OK by Wednesday. Hopefully, Ned will throw Spruls in the 9th But with Cappy starting and just off the DL. Plus a Vargas start after that...one would think the bullpen is going to see plenty of use these next two days

Man Soup is aggrevating to watch pitch. How can you lose the pitcher from 0-2?
  18. SlideBernieSlide
This Pirates starter is all over the place. Gotta make him pay for these walks. Miller Time!
  19. SlideBernieSlide
    Hanging out with Gumby.
  20. SlideBernieSlide
Hopefully Soup's dominance of Jason Bay continues. If you can slow down that main cog of their offense...it makes everything else that much easier.
  21. SlideBernieSlide
Very odd day. Brewers heads must already be in Pittsburgh? I guess they're already looking forward to that battle??
  22. SlideBernieSlide
Cubbies catching all the breaks today. One of those days.
  23. SlideBernieSlide
Hats off to you Sheeter! A little rest for the Brewers pen. After yesterday's heartbreak no one else I would want to give the ball to. Its like yesterday never happened.
  24. SlideBernieSlide
Also, Larussa should not only put Sheets on the roster but also seriously think about starting the guy in the All-Star game. Sheets or Peavy?
  25. SlideBernieSlide
Pinella is giving up? He pulls Alfonso, ARam and Lee in the same inning.
