  1. This had me a little curious, so I looked for some numbers. TV Market Size 2011 Milwaukee 34th, Cincinnati 35th. Radio Market Rankings Cincinnati 29th, Milwaukee 38th. Other population rank sites have both cities very close to their radio market rankings. While this doesn't tell the full story about money available to the team to spend on players, it does show that Cincinnati isn't really all that much bigger than Milwaukee as far as market is concerned. I don't think the ability to throw $200M at someone was based as much on market size as it was on future obligations and projections. The Brewers locked up several of their core players leaving Prince with no option but to get more money elsewhere.
  2. 20 seconds on google tells me he was worth $500M in 2009.
  3. It is definitely jaw dropping.
  4. Oscar Taveras, hit .386/.444/.584 as a 19 year old in 91 games of A ball last year. "Minor League Guy" deserves more respect than that. It's spring training for TV crews too I suppose.
  5. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1826178546.png Paying for 18Mb
  6. Finally, someone is acting like they were supposed to the whole time. +1 for confidential information remaining confidential.
  7. I'm guessing that with a Cowboys avatar, the Packers aren't really his cup of tea.
  8. After several years of contract 'talks' with Milwaukee and the uncertainty there, then an 11th hour deal when it finally happened, I'm sure he's just relieved to be settled. I don't see it negatively at all.
  9. I just wanted to mention a thought on the DNA test and whether Braun offered or backed off taking it. Braun's angle clearly seems to be that the urine sample was tampered with or mishandled. That would make the sample his DNA either way, whether it was tampered with/mishandled or truly positive. In that case I can easily see why Braun would back off taking a DNA test as it wouldn't prove anything either way.
  10. Are there serious brat allergies that I'm not aware of? I see no problem with it at all, kind of shocked that anyone sees an issue. http://fox6now.com/2012/02/21/tickets-for-peanut-controlled-areas-at-miller-park-on-sale-march-1st/
  11. If he's not cleared, quit because of Tony Gwynn. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7574999/hall-famer-tony-gwynn-having-malignant-growth-removed-mouth
  12. Just wanted to ask who did the work on this graphic, looking to hire.
  13. Wakefield retired as well. It made me feel very old to remember him as a Pirate, then look at his stats and notice it had been nearly 20 years since he pitched for Pittsburgh.
  14. I think Yuku does a good enough job of tossing its cookies on itself.
  15. I definitely cringed on the possession where they did nothing but pass the ball around the 3 pt arc until about 5 secs on the clock, then passed back towards half court (!) and while trying to get it back towards the actual hoop, it was stolen and became a fast break layup for Appling. It really is hard to watch, especially when they are down by a large margin yet continue to show zero urgency.
  16. Yi could not wait to play ball in Milwaukee. It's a draft. Whether he wanted to play here or not, it's not really up to him.
  17. Definitely. Remember this guy? http://www.baseballnotebook.com/essay.asp?esource=e_010105.asp&topt=Top%20100%20Prospects%20NL%20Pitchers ^Not exactly the most well known prospect ranker, but I remember also reading elsewhere that he was the #1 pitching prospect in baseball after the Brewers plucked him from Atlanta. They are really just guessing.
  18. 33 jacks to go along with it. Every 6.4 ABs. Bonds hit one every 6.5 ABs in his season of 73.
  19. The only reason no one has been overturned (publicly) is because the system is designed to be completely confidential. Leaks are the only reason we know about the Braun case to this point. It would be nice if Kurkjian had mentioned that.
  20. Here's a pic: http://i.imgur.com/gwl10.png It could be I suppose, although maybe it's just the angle but the shoulders seem a bit narrow for Prince.
  21. Prince was the first player that I checked minor league box scores for on a daily basis. What an amazing ride it has been. That being said, I'm glad he got paid and no way would want the Brewers to have paid that much. Hopefully he's still playing well at the end of that contract.
  22. Seriously. -harp sounds- ...if I could move to the land of opportunity(!) to play a child's game in front of tens of thousands every night, my name would be: Giancarlo Von Boomstocken! -harp sounds-
  23. For some reason I don't see Hollywood giving him a call for an acting job anytime soon. This is just blatantly obvious.
