  1. I don't get why Hall isn't used there. You can only get a 3 run HR, but not a 2 run shot and a solo?
  2. Man, how many days till Dessens gets activated?
  3. so again no reason to take Corey out of the lineup. Right, but there was no reason to put Gwynn in the lineup. Hart or Gross could just have played CF.
  4. There's your leadoff hitter, Tony.
  5. 1) He's a switch hitter By name only. He's practically useless against LHP's. The "hitter" part is a stretch.
  6. Boy, that Estrada is a real hittin' machine.
  7. Man, throwing bad pitches to great hitters is not a good idea. Such is the fun that comes with living and dying with the home run, though.
  8. We need to find a gritty gamer type to trade for Dye. If Melvin could convince the White Sox that Graffy is a veteran battler and Vargas is a scrapper we could get Dye in no time. Start paging through the media guide - do the Brewers have any ex-punters on the roster? The White Sox need to fill that hole after they lost the guy that plays ex-punter for them.
  9. This is why TGJ is hot and Corey Hart's not... It's a sliding scale of hot handedness. When you basically have no expectations for a player (Gwynn) it's easy to exceed them, hence he is hot even though he's not. When a player has high expectations placed on them (Hart), and has just had a few good games, he is still not officially hot. Get it? Me neither.
  10. Yep, Gross should definitely be in there tonight. That's almost a no-brainer. I'd like to see him in the 2nd spot and just bump everyone else down.
  11. If you were able to acquire a guy like him for a low price, you'd have to be crazier than him to turn it down. People in professional sports think they can fix anyone, so he'll always get a shot. If he was able to go one year without an incident, most people would forget it ever happened, and he could resume being an amazing baseball player like he is going to become. I would say this is sort of like Milton Bradley's situation, except there's no media glare in Tampa like there was in LA for Bradley. If Dukes can't stay out of the headlines there, he probably can't anywhere. I guess I just hope the best for him.
  12. Sheets, Buehrle, Capuano and Suppan would give us a top 4 that rivals anyone in the league, and possibly in all of baseball. I really don't think Bush is that much worse than Buehrle is. I think right now Buehrle is pitching over his head. His K rate has been in decline the last two seasons (it's up this year), and his HR rate has been rising. His FIP last year was 5.32, and it's 4.48 so far this year. He was pretty excellent in '05, but to me that looks the last time that's going to happen. He has a ton of innings on his arm. I know that this is sort of misleading, since he is a very efficient pitcher. The Brewers are going to go to the postseason with or without him is my point, I guess. I don't think any prospect (including Gallardo or Inman) should be untouchable, but I wouldn't trade them for someone like Buehrle.
  13. Another summer keeper? Crazy Love Yeah, I mentioned that earlier in the thread. I absolutely can't wait to see it. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait, because I'm not going to see it until it hits DVD (which has been happening pretty quickly with docs lately).
  14. I remember watching Terminator 2 when I was about 8, or so.
  15. Suppan only had 76 pitches. It was pretty much a no-brainer to leave him in.
  16. As long as Braun doesn't show anybody up he can be as cocky as he wants a la Nick Swisher. Oh, no doubt. Swish is my favorite player. I like that Braun is cocky. He can do the one flap down gimmick for all I care.
  17. It really would be awesome if Graffy started to hit like Tony Graffanino while Weeks is out. He's due for progression to the mean (yes, I know it is still regression).
  18. I think he's always been thought of as a cocky guy. Not a problem for me - I like it when players are good and they know it.
  19. Really, my rhetorical question was hyperbole. But, I don't mind this direction for the thread. You really should divide it by cost bracket, though, because for the most part you get what you pay for, as evidenced by this: http://www.40ouncebeer.com/pics400/milwaukeesbesticebottles.jpg
  20. Why can't a movie as good as say.... "Buffalo '66" come out this summer? Now you're talking my language. Vincent Gallo is the man. He's starring in a film called "Oliviero Rising" that's supposed to be out this year. That's his first real film since "Brown Bunny" (which probably can't be discussed here).
  21. You wouldn't trade for Tex to DH him, he's a good 1B. You'd trade for him to replace a guy like Doug E. Fresh. Giambi is an elite hitter, Mientkiewicz hits like a bad utility guy. You wouldn't think that the Rangers would want Giambi's contract, since they are dumping Teixeira's, that doesn't make sense. I don't see Texas trading a 27 year old superstar, though. This is just a creation of ESPN, and them deciding to pick out a young player that they would like to see in NY.
  22. They've made some pretty bad beers lately Leinie's Red: Worst Beer Ever?
  23. Yet neither one were close to the warning track, and both were too far in the air to fall in for a hit. Still not excited. He's in a slump. He slumped hard last year for a while, too (also during May) then he went .843, .904, .918, .928 (OPS) for the rest of the season.
  24. Well, it was moreso a swipe at another player (at least the calling him a "true leadoff hitter" part). The swipe definitely wasn't at Weeks. Rickie is my favorite player on the team, so I definitely want him to leadoff, he is the best option they have there. Hart is probably the third of three acceptable options (at least in my opinion), so I'm fine with him there.
  25. That second pitch to Gilbert (at around the 2:10 mark of the video) is just straight smoke.
