  1. In hindsight, yeah, but I think most people would say that you take the Center there just due to the scarcity at the position.
  2. Yeah, I mean, I'm sure there's NO WAY that MLB could have covered this up. And I don't think he really has "supporters", it's people who realize that pretty much every one was juicing and people who don't.
  3. I am a huge fan of "Frankie's Gun". Probably my favorite of their's. But "The Ballad of Lou The Welterweight" has a pretty excellent hook. Both albums are very good. burnie - you should go see The Avett Brothers at the High Noon in May. That's possibly the most fun music venue around.
  4. Oh yeah, I bought my tickets long ago. BTCD has been in heavy rotation the past few days for me. I saw Isbell the other night in Madison and he was great, even though I miss him with DBT. Spooner is awesome, though. And I love the Felice Brothers, especially "Adventures of the Felice Brothers, Vol. 1" - great album. I would say they sound more like Dylan and The Band than Bruce or especially Billy Joel (I think of him as an insult, actually). I'm excited to see them as I am DBT, I'm hoping they get a nice long set.
  5. As long as none of the current Mavs are married to pop songstresses, I see this working out well.
  6. I've only bought books there in the past, but it's been good.
  7. Probably the second Griffey game for N64, the one where the batting cursor was shaped like a bat, rather than the circle of the first one. Others include World Series Baseball '95, I think, for Genesis. And MVP '05. That was great. There was a year or two there were All-Star Baseball was really, really realistic - like it even had Rule 5 and stuff. And that Roger Clemens game for NES, where the names were just mixed up, like Cal "Nepkir".
  8. Well, you know they're going to win the whole thing, now.

  11. Another question I have is, did Knight always flip out on the refs, grab and yell at his players on the sidelines, and have this surly persona with the media? Or did it only happen when he stopped winning championships? He's always been that way. Read "A Season on the Brink". He actually mellowed in his old age.
  12. i'm spacing on his name, but the former ESPN guy who does the Dodger games on the radio is pretty good, too. no other comments on him, i just think he's good. Charley Steiner? He just over-romanticizes everything, IMO, and that's the one thing (outside of false excitment) that I hate with announcers. He also makes bizarre analogies like Larry Merchant does.
  13. I really hate New York much more due mostly to it's horrible reactionary media (7 weeks ago, Eli's look was that of being "lost out there" and "emotionless", now he is "poised" and "in control" - while in reality nothing has changed) and fans. I guess I am starting to hate the NFL as a whole because of how reactionary it is - the Pats went from being the greatest team ever to a disappointment basically because Ellis Hobbs dropped a coverage at a really inopportune time. But New Yorkers are the fans who wanted Andy Phillips to play instead of Giambi. Or think Aaron Small was good. I think Red Sox fans on the whole are a smarter lot.
  14. I like "send it in, (insert player)!". Or "with the kiss!". I should definitely include him on my list, because he's great. Same for Verne.
  15. Dick Enberg (not so much recently, as age has kind of robbed him of his quickness) Ron Jaworski
  16. I thought the Cryptkeeper was great.
  17. Not to be disagreeable, but things like "WOAHS" and "3TO" don't exactly resonate with the people looking/reading the shirts. That's their fault. Inside jokes rule.
  18. I don't even like hockey, but I'd rather watch that than a team lose by 43.
  19. I like Brian a lot. He's still a little too reliant on cliches, but it was his first year doing MLB. Sometimes he tried to make references like Vasgersian did, but Rock just doesn't pick up on them very well. I remember one particularly painful one involving Caddyshack.
  20. The Mets are going to strike out a lot of dudes. At least the Brewers don't have to see him anymore than they would have had he remained in MN.
  21. Oh yeah, I think I remember you saying that a while back. Maybe there was a Pink Flamingos/John Waters discussion in the DVD thread or something.
  22. NO. Never. Washington is a great place for him.
  23. A lot of the reviews and stuff that I have seen say to watch the first five episodes before forming an opinion, which of course makes sense with six different people having their turn on the couch throughout the week. I'm going to take that advice. I liked the first one, though.
  24. Dang. He really filled out. Apparently there was more to the diet than what we saw in Pink Flamingos.
