  1. Was thinking the same thing crew...just like Cincy. Rock was right...Prince really sold that one well.
  2. Hall going to center...I hope the ball avoids him the way it has Gamel the last couple nights.
  3. Rockies hammer the Cards again...glad to see them get pounded, but a little worried we'll see some hot bats come Tuesday.
  4. I keep expecting Counsell to slow down and he hasn't. What a solid year he is putting together.
  5. A few more starts like last night and Yo could be there. He's probably on the bubble right now. Still a number of deserving pitchers like Johan, Lincecum, Wandy, Josh Johnson, Billingsley and Haren.
  6. Cameron is amazing and he rarely has to lay out for a highlight reel catch. That one he had in the 8th was incredible and he did it so effortlessly. He probably gets the ball that Gamel dropped in front of McLouth last night (although to be fair he was playing him in right center)...he broke late and didn't have the speed to get to it. Olney had a little clip saying the Pirates wanted to trade him while his defensive value was high. Probably just PR from the Pirates at this point since it seemed the Braves properly valued his average defense.
  7. Wasn't he up there with Sheets as far as pitcher's abuse points the last few years? You guys are right he won't be that good in a few years, it already seems like that is taking his toll. Whatever happens I'm sure he'll make it longer than that Gatorade dispenser in the dugout at Wrigley.
  8. Thanks for pointing out the scatter chart. It is very interesing that his concentration of pulls is more dramatic than Prince. Too bad, he can be pretty good when he drives the ball the other way.
  9. I'm sure his taunting was completely classy and used the perfect Queen's English...or he was drunk and couldn't help himself.
  10. When I hopped in my car and heard Powell it took about a minute before he said "We'll be right back on the Braves radio network"...that was tough. Having two of my all-time faves in him and Sutton in the booth still doesn't make up for stealing the Braves from Milwaukee...but those guys are awesome.
  11. Honestly, for me the Hall, Hart, Parra, etc. bashing has been too much. If I wanted to read those type of posts I'd hang out on jsonline. The IGT hasn't been up to it's usual constructive self which has been a bit of a turn-off. Yo really needed that easy inning...awesome.
  12. I think we should trade our entire team to the Mariners for Russell Branyan. To please the fans who seem to hate every guy hitting below 900 OPS, the Brewers should adopt a "The King and His Court" strategy. We'll start Yo every day with Braun, Fielder and 3TO. That way we can get rid of all those stiffs on our team.
  13. I would agree with Ennder. Braun's debut season was historic...one of the all-time great rookie seasons at the plate and a historically bad year in the field. Gamel should be more moderate in both regards. I'm with rluz too...I hope the glove doesn't overwhelm the bat.
  14. As opposed to the previous 6 outs in the game. Give it a rest. I'm not saying there isn't a case to be made not to start him, but not to factor in his glove versus his replacement or past success against Johnson is not correct either.
  15. Randy Winn just extends the Giants lead to 4-1 over the Nats in the 9th. Johnson well on his way to #300.
  16. Man, when it rains it pours...sure hope Bush makes it back in the 2nd. We really can't afford a one inning start after using up Burns & McClung the last two nights.
  17. That's all that matters here. It's not all that matters, his fielding is far superior to his replacement. Whether that is enough to make up for his poor splits against RHP is what matters.
  18. the point now is that Hall has been horrible all season 3 weeks ago Hall was .278/.352/.485, granted he's fallen off a cliff since then, but he hasn't been horrible all season.
  19. The Pirates really erred by not hiring Jack Z when they had the chance. I miss Jack and sure am glad he's in the AL and not our division. He would have been the perfect hire for them.
  20. 3 weeks ago Hall went 1 for 2 against Johnson with a 2 run Homer. I get the modified platoon with Hall/Gamel with some extra starts for Hall on a matchup like this one. His defense is much better too. I like the Gerut trade and think he can be a valuable 4th OF, but if he'd been on the Brewers for the entire season this site would be going ballistic...his splits vs. RHP are eerily similar to Hall's. I think he is better than that and DM bought low, but Hart is my starting RF.
  21. Man these things don't look good...but I'm guessing that bald, overweight middle aged baseball dorks like myself aren't exactly the target market.
  22. Fangraphs had a similar take. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/the-mclouth-deal "Despite winning a gold glove last season, the glove isn't as valuable. McLouth has consistently ranked as a below average defensive center fielder, compiling a -10.6 UZR/150 over his career. He's a corner outfielder playing out of position in center, but he's not an atrocity out there. He'll let some balls fall in that you wished he could have got to, but he'll make up for with the bat."
  23. I love Lee, but that's alot to give up for a half year of DeRosa and 1.5 years of Lee. If we had Hardy signed out 4 years I could see it. At least Peavy is signed for several years...although certainly not at a discount like Lee.
  24. Bill Hall is .317/.333/.537 vs. LHP this year, was .306/.371/.522 last year and is .280/.354/.495 for his career. That's hardly giving up outs. His defense is probably a little above average. He's probably a platoon player with Gamel and a defensive sub since Gamel is below average defensively. Kendall is about the worst in the league at the plate. Can't do much about the pitcher.
