  1. It would seem that if Gallardo is indeed available to pitch, it may make sense to start him. They would likely have him on a tight pitch count and he may not even get an AB. He could be done after 3 innings. They are really short on options. They are down to: CC on short rest..again - throws tonight & Sunday if needed. Bush...our 5th starter...probably goes Saturday on short rest if Sheets can't go or backs him up from pen? McClung - Friday? Red Alert for pen again. Sheets - hurt, maybe Saturday Soup - hurt - maybe throws inning or two in relief of Yo Parra - gassed - same as Soup or even as a LOOGY I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff Cirillo started warming up in the pen...these bats better be ready because no lead will be safe.
  2. It seems to come down to: 1) Do the Brewers really think they have a viable shot to go places in 2009 or is it a transition year to 2010? How much capital do they want to lay out at 3B when they are already paying Hall way too much? Do they platoon a cheaper 3TO or Lamb option with Hall or go out and sign a legit 3B guy? This may depend on whether they feel laying out that type of money is worth it for 2009...it may take a Cameron type contract to get someone. 2) Will Gamel and/or Escobar be ready for 2010 to be regulars? This may determine whether they just need to plug the hole for one year or two. If these guys are tabbed for 2011...signing someone on a 2-4 year deal or making a trade with the ability to trade the player (ala Overbay) to clear space may make sense. That may open up the ability to get a higher level of talent.
  3. I just woke my kids up with that scream!!!
  4. Maybe we're just setting up the 3TO walk off
  5. Mota finally helped the Mets...they must be laughing
  6. Concur...DM at his best...he rules the scrap heap.
  7. The HD DVR with TiVo won't be available until second half of 2009. The current DirecTV HD with DVR is worth it for the HD, but the DVR is nowhere near as good as TiVo. If you've already got TiVo, you will be disappointed by this DVR.
  8. I could probably smell them from LA...at which point I would begin a Forrest Gump like journey across the country towards The Keg in search of the true meaning of 3TO...ahhhhhhhhh
  9. I get what everyone is saying about Rivera, but that train has left the station. The time to play Rivera to keep Kendall fresh was May-August so Kendall could start extra games now. They're not going to start Rivera now with 6 games left...nor should they. We had a day off yesterday so Kendall should be ready to go. Expect to see him in all 6 games for sure.
  10. 3TO walk-off tonight...followed by 3TO Bobblehead Day this weekend...with authentic 3TO scent!!!
  11. Soto and Ramirez get the night off. According to NSBB, Reed Johnson has been raking against Santana. I hope he has something to prove after getting benched last night after missing that sign. Go Cubs.
  12. Wow...Woogie is back. We're bringing in the heavy artillery for this one!!! Welcome back and GO BREWERS!!!
  13. Deciding whether Sveum deserves the job based on 12 games with the team basically set is silly. The only somewhat logical rationale is that there would be such a cloud over the club if they miss the playoffs, just having some new faces as coaches would help get over the painful memory of this season's collapse.
  14. Interesting watching the game last night. Lou was very intense. It was like he was sending a message to his players that they will not be taking the last week off. Reed Johnson missed a sign and got pulled from the game in the 4th. He came out and argued a call pretty hard as well. They trotted out Marmol and when he failed, brought in Wood. My guess is some of their regulars get a game off this weekend and the starters are likely to be on pitch counts, but it bodes well that they are playing the Mets hard and we miss their primo starters (ex-Dempster) this weekend. I doubt they'll pitch their top relievers this weekend either. We just need to take care of business for once.
  15. Regardless of how this pans out...I'm disgusted that the Brewers put us in a position where we as fans need to root for that team...uggh. However, I want something more out of October than simply rooting against whoever plays the Cubs. Fine, you win...Go (cough, cough cough) Cubs (ackkkk)...there I said it...now win you guys!!!
  16. So you're telling me there's a chance.
  17. Todd Coffey...welcome to the 2009 Milwaukee Brewers.
  18. I think Doug has had a pretty free reign and done quite well with it. He still doesn't have a $200 million payroll and even with stretching it to where it's at, it's tough to oversome the eventual mistakes. He did inherit a recovering minor league system and a great scouting dept. led by Jack Z. Overall he's been quite good. I certainly want to see him get another shot at building a winner in 2010.
  19. There is just no way he's healthy. My guess is they tried to get him healthy with days off and in the end told him there was no way it would fully heal, so he's been trying to gut it out. If Kapler was healthy, maybe they'd have an option, but they really had no choice. That injury has had a major impact on the season.
  20. I actually thought Sveum was good at third. Iorg has been a disaster. It is certainly not been the main or only reason we lost, but he's botched 3 plays in 3 one run losses.
  21. There's only enough room for one of us Bill Hall...if you are still here in 2009...I'm out.
  22. It could be argued the Yost firing and the ensuing downgrade in Iorg from Sveum at 3B coach has cost us 3 games.
  23. reds announcers surprised Iorg didn't send Weeks.
