  1. We might be able to get to the rest of their bullpen...but not Marmol. It's good we got to Cra-Z and finished with Marmol through 7...that gives us 2 shots.
  2. Marmol is the difference in the division right now.
  3. I watched it...it was like the car crash that you just couldn't help but watch with utter sadness and disbelief. The part that made it easy was there was no stress after Soto's first homer. The game was over. I even tried to watch Brewers Live, but DirecTV cut it off 10 minutes in...it must have been some Extra Innings 10 run mercy rule.
  4. No way he tanked it, the guy is not Gary Sheffield. I think he genuinely wanted to keep things going after last week's Phils game. Ned has been really supportive of him and taken a lot of abuse for it...that has to count for something. Last night was really sad. I've felt for sometime that the fans have been way too critical of T-bow. He was incredibly valuable before the break last year in the 8th inning role. I thought he got overused with a thin pen at the end of the year and the offseason would freshen him up for '08. I was really fired up after that Phillies game that he may have turned the corner, but alas it is not to be. Last night was sad and likely his last outing in a Brewers uniform. If he wasn't with the Brewers already, this is exactly the type of guy Melvin would take a shot on. With a team that runs 28-30 deep, it puts a great deal of strain on Ned to carry a guy he can't use. Good luck T-bow...I may be the only one that will miss you.
  5. Anyway to find out what Rickie's stats looked like the last 8 weeks of 2007? His average was, well...average, but his OBP and Runs Scored were among the league's best. He was being lauded for his plate discipline, now he's a target. I think the stats show he's underperforming more modestly than some might think. Braun seems to be the one suffering from some poor ABs. He's been falling for that outside off the plate pitch. If he lays off it a little better, he might see more inside pitches he can drive.

  7. Is there a major difference between swing percentage based on batting position? Should we expect leadoff hitters to be more picky and try and milk more walks versus a 5/6 hitter who is up there hacking? Just curious where Weeks fits in versus other leadoff hitters. Weeks has been getting bashed lately, but his OBP does not look nearly as bad as his BA.

  9. Bust out night...Crew wins 9-2. Brewer fans are speechless as there is no one on the team to complain about so we wisely shift our focus to how much we hate Cubs fans. Crew thrown off by success loses tomorrow, fire Yost site implodes from too many hits...YoGo throws 8 inning 2 hit ball before Gagne' fans the side on Thursday...Brewers sweep 'stros in a Texas Homerun Massacre. After taking 2/3 from Fish, 1000s of fans pack airport to greet Brewers on their return. There is a massive tofu and bean dip tailgate roast in the airport parking lot. Many are dressed in Dale Earnhardt gear in honor of Ned Yost. Go Brewers!!!
  10. It's tough to DL him when they can get perfect information on what's going on with him. If there is a chance he makes that start next Monday, there is no way you DL him, even knowing he misses a start. Sheets is as guaranteed of a quality start as there is in baseball right now. Certainly more than our 5th or 6th best starters. I understand the frustration, and I'm sure it's shared by the Brewer's management.
  11. I like the post-game analysis from the whole Brewers Live crew, but I agree with last night. This was probably the biggest win of the season and I wanted to hear everything Yost had to say. Instead we got subjected to this lame umpiring demo. Don't get me wrong, I'm so desperate for Brewers anything out here I'd probably watch a 3 hour discussion of the evolution of the umpire's proper feet position, but I'd rather see the Yost presser in it's complete condecending glory.
  12. Maybe my use of "gamer" isn't appropriate for a pitcher and is better saved for football. I just really appreciate Ben's competitive zeal. I sure didn't like the sound of that blurb in the paper this morning. It almost sounds like they are setting us up for another missed start.
  13. Let's face it, the Cubs won the divsion last year and probably have a better team than last year since they added Fukodome. They are hot right now and have had a great start. The Brewers may have more unknows, especially in the bullpen, but we're only 2 games back and they really haven't started clicking yet. I think what people miss about our bullpen is last year's version had a better headline act in Cordero, but had questionable depth. It would be nice to have Cordero, but it's not just Gagne' out there. Guys like Riske and Torres have really solidified those 6-8 innings and have helped in the extra innings games. As this season wears on, I'm less worried about Yost wearing out the pen like last year. It's a marathon, not a sprint. The only major difference between our pen and theirs is Marmol. He was the difference maker in the division last year.
  14. I agree on both accounts. Going with Turnbow was the right move for two reasons - one, he didn't really have many alternatives and two, the upside was huge. Turnbow comes in, does great and builds some confidence, Yost now has a guy he feels he can use in more than a mop up role. Our bullpen may not have the stars that some others have, but it does have depth and now maybe Turnbow is part of it. If he blew it last night, he would probably go back to mop up or be gone. No change from before and Yost really had no choice anyway. He really is condecending during those pressers. That's one thing that makes me think he's too stubborn of a guy sometimes.
  15. If you are going to the game...cheer a little extra for Jenks on the intro for me. Go Crew!!!
  16. I agree with Invader3K. If you had Extra Innings and had to watch the other team's broadcast, you would realize that Brian and Bill are one of the better duos out there. Same goes for Uke and Jim on the radio for those of us who rely on XM. It's nice that DirecTV has both feeds this year so I rarely get stuck with the other team's announcers. The production on the other hand has really been rough this year.
  17. Gotta give credit where it is due. The Cubs are winning and beating the teams they are supposed to. It's not like they can take 8 out of 6 from the Pirates. At least we haven't dug the hole they dug for themselves last year. They aren't going away this year...and neither are the Brewers. As for Cedeno...who isn't thinking WS or at least the playoffs in April? Isn't that why they play?
  18. This is not good for the rest of the NL Central. The guy knows what he's doing and has some good young talent at his disposal. It may not matter in 2008...but the Reds will be player going forward.
  19. I hope Billy finds his stroke. He has seemed undisciplined at the plate over the last year. However, his contribution in the field this year has been huge. Hall has been the main reason the Brewers defense is so much better this year.
  20. Our improved D has helped here as well. Less extra outs for the pitchers to make means less innings. We must rank fairly well on "quality starts" too.
  21. The Brewers have to feel good that the team runs 30 deep at this point. Obviously if they lose a Prince, Braun or Sheets type of player, it will hurt bad, but they have a lot of options right now. Bringing up guys like Stetter, Dillon, Hernan and feeling confident in getting some production will give this team more staying power. I can't imagine the Brewers of a few years ago letting a player like Gross (not saying he's an all-star or anything) go for a low-level prospect.
  22. Outside of the 3 at home vs. the Giants without facing Lincecum, the Brewers have had a tougher road than either the Cards or the Cubs. We've had more road games than either too. It does seem that the Cubs have a slightly easier schedule this year...although over 162, it doesn't matter that much. We've got a trip to Boston and play them more at Wrigley than they are at MP. We just need to slap them around when we play them at the end of the month!!!
  23. Good luck Gabe...thanks for the hustle today!!! Great way to end it. As much as I like Gabe, there is logjam in the OF once Cameron is back. TGJ is a better defensive replacement and Pinch Runner. As someone mentioned previously, Gross is a guy that seems to need to play everyday, making TGJ possibly a better PH. If he gets some regular time, he can do ok as a corner OF. I wish him nothing but good luck...he seems like a great guy. Welcome back TGJ!!!
