  1. Yes but no other team in the division is even average with their current starting roster and the Mariners have absolutely no depth outside of C and corner OF. If Felix or Bedard go down that isn't even a .500 team. The Angels have loads of talent in backup roles so they can afford a few injuries to their older players.
  2. Yes it should be, but I don't know how to do blue text in yuku and I wasn't actaully kidding. People were actually saying exactly what I posted. I don't believe it but others did, when Capuano walked off the mound there were a lot of people saying he was faking the injury because he was pitching poorly and the post I linked above insinuated that an inside source told him the team wanted to stash him on the DL. Which I agree was the dumbest thing I had seen in a while.
  3. I'm worried about Gagne myself but the entire 18 IP for Boston thing is so overblown it is just ridiculous.
  4. http://forum.brewerfan.net/search.php?keywords=306120/t/Capuano-Injury-Latest-Torn-ulnar-collateral-ligament--left-e.html#reply-306120 See a 'reliable source' said it is so! Someone else posted the same type of thing at Toms blog. I just think it is sad that people would assume something like this, if I knew how to put posts in blue on yuku quick reply I'd have put that first one in blue since I don't honestly believe he was faking it, just seemed to be what everyone else thought.
  5. Yeah I thought it was the dumbest thing I had read since everyone loses with an injury, giving up runs keeps him in the hunt for a job and lets the team keep shopping him.
  6. Compared to that rape job when they traded Liriano, Nathan, and Bonsor for a decent catcher, the Villanueva trade has to look like a not so bad trade. The difference there was Pierzynski looked like an .300 hitting catcher, Wayne Franklin looked like Wayne Franklin I can't help but think by the end of the year Villanueva looks like a 4.50 ERA pitcher which makes this a lot less attractive. I just do not have confidence that his heavy FB% and high BB rate won't hurt him more than his good skills help him over a full season. I hope I'm wrong.
  7. It wasn't my source, someone posted it on this forum and everyone on toms blog seemed to think he was just faking it to hide his shame for giving up runs. I defended him and come back from vacation to see he could be out for the year.
  8. No, the Angels are still by far the best team. They not only had the best team they had by far the most depth of any team in the division and could probably lose 4 or 5 major players and still be better than the Mariners. Of course Mattews, Lackey, Escobar and Shields are all hurt so they are already at 4!
  9. Last I heard before my vacation he was just faking it and "an inside source" said the team told him to do it. Maybe this is all part of the plot~.
  10. On paper the two teams are even so I have no problem with anyone picking one over the other.
  11. Hill is the Cubs #2, Lilly is the #3 if you are talking how good they are. Do I get the Cubs defense if I pick the Brewers rotation? The real difference last year was the Cubs were a top 3 defensive team in the NL and the Brewers were a bottom 3. If you remove defense from the equation we were as good last year and will be better this year assuming good health.
  12. grits are terrible, just one more thing I don't miss about living in NC.
  13. Well it is titled Part 1 and it was stated the article is just for fantasy baseball and most don't think Price will be up until late in the season if at all this year.
  14. I dunno, the first time Garciaparra had an MRI on his wrist it was just bruised and the second time he had one it found a microfracture. Hafner had the same thing with his hand injury. Seems like MRI are always giving incorrect results or it is just commonplace for teams to lie about them.
  15. Action speaks louder than words. He has consistently misplaced OBP in his lineups and picked the wrong players to start. I'm not buying that he is just misunderstood.
  16. Just glad at least one team in the division has a worse manager than we do! http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/06c35dab9de482843837c5eb20353a3c0a10ced.pjpg
  17. His average FB was only 92.3 MPH last year so I wouldnt' expect to see much over 93/94 at the top end. He is not going to be the dominant guy fromt he dodgers but if he can strike out close to 1 per inning and not walk very many he should be fine.
  18. Spring training isn't over you know... the starters are getting stretched out and Suppan will probably have two starts of 5 innings to bring down his ERA. Cole Hamels had a 10 ERA going into his last start too, he dropped it to a 6 or so. This really isn't a big deal at all. Suppan will be the same as always, a mediocre guy who relies on defense to help him out because he doesn't strike out enough guys.
  19. Davis had a 4.62 xERA, Vargas had a 4.77. They are the same guy. The real difference was good defensive team with one of best bullpens in baseball vs poor defensive team with a well below average bullpen. Vargas did get hurt but I don't think you can blame the GM for something like that after a trade.
  20. Davis would have been as bad as Vargas last year with our defense. Eveland was useless last year. Krynzel will always be useless. So far it has been pretty even. Davis is off the books now, we wouldn't have had him this season even without the deal. So now it is Eveland vs Mota+Vargas and of course the $6M or so.
  21. I was worried about those two before spring training so yeah I'd think it is still fine.
  22. While I think some people are going overboard on days of rest, no player on the team should play 162 games. It just isn't a smart move, every day guys like that always start to wear down earlier because of it.
  23. The absolute worst thing that could happen to Capuano right now is for him to get injured. I find it absurd that people think that he is faking it. Getting hit hard still leaves him at least looking at a bullpen job or a trade, having elbow problems and being shut down for more or less the rest of spring training takes away any shot he had at meaningful playing time and severely hurts his financial upside. He isn't just faking it.
  24. Yost is pretty good about resting the offensive players, I don't think he needs to change anything from last year.
  25. Take it with a grain of salt of course but pitch/fx says his fastball averaged 86.4 in 2005, 86.8 in 2006, 86.9 in 2007. His overall velocity is about the same as always.
