  1. Pie: 39/161, 9 2b, 2 3b, 2 HR, 12 BB, .242/.303/.360 Those are his winter league stats. I don't think they will give up on Pie but I do expect them to be worried about him. Soriano and Fukudome can play CF but I don't think they want either of them to be doing it full time. Willits won't really get very much playtime in LAA. Vlad, Anderson, Hunter, Rivera, Mathews, maybe some AB's by Figgins. They also have other DH types. There just isn't extra room even though he probably should play over some of those guys.
  2. Pie was horrible this winter too, they can't be happy not having a viable full time backup for him.
  3. He was good last year before the injury. He was good in August of 2006. He was average for parts of the rest of the span, he was bad for parts of it. If you just want to play the splits game. Between August 11th of 2006 and June 02 of 2007 in a 22 start span he had a 4.11 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 6.8 K/9, 2.8 BB/9 and 1.04 HR/9. Unfortunately I can't get more in depth stats than in the day by day database but I don't think he has been bad for a year and a half. He has had some bad chunks of time in there for sure, especially last year after his DL trip.
  4. W and L will have nothing to do with my opinion of Capuano and they shouldn't have anything to do with it. If Capuano is pitching well he should keep his spot, if he isn't he shouldn't. He could be 0-20 on the year and if he pitched well I'd keep throwing him out there. W are a team stat that the SP influences, not an individual stat.
  5. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=762 They are updating this with strength of schedule adjustments. They also mentioned that this is after trades even when the players show up in the wrong depth chart. I also found this to be an interesting comment. I never really thought about it but as the 'best' team in the weakest division and an easy interleague schedule the Cubs really do have an extremely easy schedule this year.
  6. When there's no more room in HELL, the dead will walk the EARTH.
  7. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/phillies/20080217_Trade_bait__Somethings_fishy.html I always think these kinds of jokes are more cruel than funny but sounds like he took it ok.
  8. I don't think the Tigers are really better than the Indians so I have no problem with the results. If Bonderman isn't healthy that is a pretty bad rotation and the bullpen is nothing amazing either. The lineup is good but there is a lot of regression that I expect to happen from last year so a lot of renteria/cabrera value will be used to offset the career years by guys like Ordonez and Polanco.
  9. Did we really have to blow the first quarter of the show talking about steroids and Clemens, I sure hope they move on to something interesting soon.
  10. Oops, yeah I meant .900 OPS. heh.
  11. Well they project Fukudome to have a .400 OBP and .900 SLG and Soto to be one of the best C's in the NL. I don't think either of those will actually happen. twobrewers, I agree with you but it is really a new thing. This division has been terrible for a while now but it has added some of the best young talent in the game in it over the last few years and has some of the best young talent still coming. These things go in cycles and I think the NL Central is on the upswing right now.

  14. They are really high on Soto, Fukudome and Pie. Soriano - .544 Theriot - .347 Lee - .527 Aramis - .536 Fukudome - .504 DeRosa - .439 Soto - .470 Pie - .479 Murton - .462 Ward - 459 Now I agree with you, I think BPro is just too optimistic on the Cubs hitting but I do expect their hitting to be better than last year still.

  17. They are also a pretty old team and they lost their 2nd best RP and one of their best hitters and didn't replace them with anything. Their depth chart doesn't include Bedard and there is no #1 starter listed so I think their standings might be messed up as well.

  20. Nah, these are all regressed towards the mean and don't include injuries, breakouts etc. A few of those 86 projections will be 90+ and a few will end up around 81. I actually don't expect the Diamondbacks to make that 86 win projection so not surprised by it. I think that team last year wasn't as good as the Cardinals world series team personally. They are better this year but in that division I don't think they stand out.

  23. Thought people might be interested in this. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/fantasy/dc/ EDIT: Removed subscriber-only material - b19 Keep in mind PECOTA is very high on Fukudome, Pie and Soto. If even one of those guys flames out I think we are the 'favorites' by their system. EDIT: Updated title - 1992
