  1. Lester got hurt today so maybe that helps a bit as well.
  2. Bring on the computer announcers!
  3. We follow that road trip with 2 against the Cardinals and then 4 against the Nationals. We should have a really good idea of our chances by Sept 4th.
  4. I want them to not be complete homers, to not have ridiculously stupid home run calls and to not say completely idiotic things during the game. I also want them to be able to put out complete sentences without stumbling over words and to not just be completely boring. These requests seem easy enough but very few announcers manage to fit all of them and none of the current Brewer guys manage it though Ueker used to.
  5. Yes because you haven't had a pinched neck from sleeping that lasted a couple days nobody on earth ever has, give me a break dude. This is not some big problem with the Brewers medical staff, these things really do happen. I've slept wrong one night and had my neck hurt for 4 days afterwards with no treatment. You pinch your neck it is going to take a few days to get better. That is just reality.
  6. He definitely loses focus frequently these years. Just part of getting older.
  7. Every team ahead of us in the playoff race lost last night so we gained 1 game on everyone.
  8. [quote= 1... I don't buy this. The team doesn't have a chiropractor and a (how do you spell masuse?) on call? They dont have muscle relaxers? Like every issue that could be caused by a kinked neck from a bad nights sleep should not linger beyond 8 hours with a mlb medical staff. Neither a chiropractor nor a masseuse could fix a pinched neck in 8 hours. It is something that takes time to heal, especially if you are going to potential put stress on it like pitching might. They could speed it up a little and ease the pain a little but they aren't just making it magically go away.
  9. I'm all for anything that might raise Villar's trade value.
  10. Broxton was better last year than this year, Santana was close to as good last year but was hurt. Perez isn't as good as last year. The bullpen guys outside of Knebel are all having bad seasons compared to their last few. Very few players on this team are having career years with the SP being the most notable. It is a couple of guys who are in their growth stage having what seems like breakouts, a pair of starters who may or may not be legit and a bunch of guys having weaker years than we hoped.
  11. DRS takes 3 years to become meaningful. I'd also say it is one of the weaker defensive metrics with the best being the new stat cast metrics for OF at least which Broxton rates decently in though it doesn't count things like stupidly throwing to the wrong base or bobbling a pickup and giving an extra base which he does quite frequently. DRS may be picking up on all those little dumb mistakes he makes.
  12. That was my assumption. Something minor, but something that an extra day off could help... HA! Stop trying to get in an arguement and congrats on a random guess at an out of the blue minor issue. These minor issues happen dozens of times every season. I wouldn't call this a random guess, it is what usually happens when bullpen usage looks different than normal.
  13. This makes me ill. Pretty typical to give a couple guys days off on Sunday. Sunday lineups always look kind of weak.
  14. I don't think it matters too much. Villar is a very poor SS and the little bit of data we have on Sogard says he is a bad SS but not nearly as bad.
  15. J.D Martinez is probably the biggest name you are missing.
  16. We are tied with the Cubs in wins so we are basically in 1st. The smart thing is to just assume the other team is going to win or lose all of the extra games and I choose to randomly decide the Cubs are going to lose all 4. So glad I was tipped off using bizarro logic to make things look the way i want them to. Wish I had figured this out years ago. In other news, back in 3rd place!
  17. Cordell and Cooper easily could have both been lost to the rule 5 draft at some point. Neither looked likely to be a part of the teams near future and might not be part of the far future. This statement really isn't a solid truth. It could be true but you can't really say it with any certainty.
  18. Nobody has ever said Ks don't matter, a K as a result does not significantly matter compared to an out as a result. That is a completely different argument. People also have never said clutch isn't good, clutch just isn't predictive. Because you were clutch one time does not mean you are more likely to be clutch the next time. The big issue with analytics is people not understand what they are saying and misquoting them.
  19. I have posted on this site for at least 15 years now and this is pretty much par for the course with Briggs. I have blocked him at this point but I generally get his opinions through quotes anyway.
  20. I still have no good grasp on what Eric Thames is. His hard contact is great, his K% and BB% are just all over the place. I can't tell if he is a terrible player or a good one and the sample is getting pretty large at this point.
  21. Called a ball but that was way too close to take on ball 3 Aguilar.
  22. Not likely. This is a salary dump and even with nothing coming back the Mets had to eat salary just to get rid of the player. Walker basically has negative value right now compared to his contract.
  23. Roenicke pretty clearly lost the clubhouse that year, I'd say it is a very different scenario. The 2014 Brewers were also supposed to compete, this team was not. This team is supposed to be rebuilding and is like 15 wins higher than most people expected.
  24. Or they can come in and just do nothing or they can come in and stink like Cahill has. One player rarely makes a large difference in under half a season unless they are a stud that you have to pay a ton for. If we had traded for Kinsler and Bruce the team might have 1 more win than it does right now. You can't get hung up on results, you have to look at the actual roster. This is all just a sequencing issue. If we had our cold streak right before the all star break nobody wants us to be buyers, but we happened to win 8 of 10 and hit our high point so everyone wants to buy. This team is not a playoff team and a couple marginal players added does not make it one. We had an 10-2 stretch in May too, followed that up losing 5 in a row. Baseball is a really streaky game and you don't want to get stuck judging your team by its record right after the hot streak.
  25. Keon Broxton is on pace for about 1.5 WAR over a full season. There is no gaping hole at CF. He is better than most CF that are available. Bringing in a 2B would be fine but I don't really see a huge point in it either. One guy isn't going to turn this roster into a playoff contender. They are better off just hoping one of the in house guys shows some reason to believe they will be useful next season.
