  1. I think the coughing thing is just habit. Its not like he's hacking up a lung out there.
  2. Wait....I'm confused. Why are we losing both Green and LuCroy?? I thought the trade was for LaPorta, Jackson, Bryson, and a PTBNL. Am I missing something here?
  3. I want a short leash on Bushie. Start warming Villy. edit: maybe I'm overreacting
  4. I think we should be patient with Gamel. A lefty power bat at 3rd is pretty valuable. My guess is LaPorta plays a corner OF spot in the Bigs next year. Prince will be a Brewer through '09. Then (unless a long term deal works out), deal Prince and move LaPorta to 1st before the 2010 season. We have a lot of OF prospects to replace LaPorta in the Bigs that could be ready by then. The move back to 1st shouldn't be too hard for LaPorta. Of course, if one of these guys is traded in the next few weeks, who knows......
  5. I remember when my parents took mine away. So don't wait that long. It might very well be my first memory. I don't know how old I was, but if I had guess, I'd say 3-4. It was quite traumatic. Anyway, it might just be why I have a bit of a oral fixation (former smoker, I chew on pens and straws, fingernails, etc). And it also could be why I had to start going to the orthodontist when I was around 8. Take it away now!!! (I'm no parent, so take what I say with a grain of salt)
  6. What's the difference? If we lose when they win, we lose a game in the standings. No need to get worked up over 1 series in June. Its a long season. If you want to be upset at the Brewers for not winning this series, look at the bullpen Friday night. Thats the game that got away---not this one.
  7. It's tough to be patient when Slowey's throwing fastballs on the black for stikes on 0-2 counts. I think we get to him the 2nd time through. Sheeter looks great.
  8. Isn't that the 2nd 3 pitch K from Prince tonight? He needs to think up there at the plate. Quit swinging at everything, man. They aren't even throwing you stikes.
  9. I'd be tempted to. Greinke has been great, and while he probably isn't as good as CC, he isn't a FA until after 2010. If we lose Sheets after the year, a Gallardo/Greinke is still a pretty darn good 1-2 punch.
  10. That's the thing. Beane probably knows he won't get a huge haul for Harden because of his injury history. And when he's healthy, there is no one better. He's better off keeping Harden and trading him this off-season or next summer (assuming he stays healthy that whole time. A big IF, but I'm a big fan and will be rooting for him),
  11. Yeah Sheff!
  12. "Other players and considerations will be included to make the package work financially." Sounds like SI just wanted to get something out there before the specifics were known.
  13. Crap. Thought that was gone off the bat
  14. I didn't love the effort by Weeks there. Go to your knees if you have to. Gotta get an out there.
  15. MLBTR speculates that Sheets might get a Jason Schmidt like contract of $47 million over 3 years. That seems low on years and dollars to me. In the comments someone speculated that he might prefer a 3 year contract so he can once again be a free agent at 33 as opposed to 35 (if he signed a 5 year deal). Sign me up for $47/3 for sure. Link to story
  16. Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer. Not as good as "Apologies...", and very different from it, but its growing on me. Tapes 'N Tapes - Walk it Off Vampire Weekend - Self titled. A little overrated, but still pretty solid. Not overly impressed with 2008 so far.
  17. The more I think about the Fielder situation, the more I want to him to be a Brewer through at least 2009. Like others have said, he's our only lefty bat (now and probably in the future until Gamel is ready). Who knows, a long term deal could still happen with Prince, and if it doesn't before the 2010 season, we can trade him the winter before that season and still get good value. Could we put a package together that includes LaPorta, a pitching prospect (other than Jeffress), and another prospect (other than Gamel; no idea who, you all will need to help me with that) that could net us a younger pitcher who is signed through 2009 or later (other than Bedard, he is souring on me)? Seattle needs a 1B and I'm sure they'd love Prince, but would a LaPorta package be enough to net King Felix? What other pitchers could we target besides CC and Bedard? Anyone want to take a chance on Rich Harden? By the way, I've seen a website mentioned in the past that shows players contract situations. Anybody have this site? It would make targeting guys signed through '09 and above easier to find. Thanks...
  18. FSN South showed some highlights of the 18 Ks game. Ben threw 91 strikes and only 25 balls while only allowing 3 hits. Thats less than 1 ball per batter! Amazing!
  19. I'm watching on MLB.TV, so I have the Braves announcers, but Bill must have LOVED that swing by Braun.
  20. And I believe all 4 runs were unearned.
  21. So who gets multiple innings out of the BP? Riske for 2? Villy pitched 4 on Friday, so I would doubt Ned puts him back out there.
  22. Yeesh. This is looking like one of those games that I should just turn off right now before I punch something.
  23. 1st pitch Thome?
