  1. Time to add Keston Hiura. Who I think is difficult to comp. At first his size and build seem pretty similar to Daniel Murphy but Murphy is a left-handed hitter. The next logical player comp. is D.J. LaMahieu but I think Hiura will hit for more power ultimately (LeMahieu a much better fielder as well). I think maybe the closest is Schoop with Hiura maybe not quite reaching that power ceiling. Thoughts?
  2. Several teams need OF at this point: Notably: Cleveland Arizona Tampa Others.
  3. Well, you probably want to address this one too.
  4. So basically don't worry the options are still on the table and something may happen.
  5. We have reached the part of the off-season where the high heat of the hot stove can get to people. Stick with Brewer World for scoops like the Cain signing and Johnsonville Brat deal @BrewerWorld Trolling?
  6. I doubt many are going to find this humorous if it's a nothing-berger and I'm betting he's calculated that to himself already.
  7. Wait, so BrewerWorld is trying to take credit? The bio and stuff....
  8. Did you see that between the 75 daily birthday announcements? That group is awful.
  9. I really want it to be Archer too. Will it with me.
  10. I thought the initial-wisdom was that they could offload salary to trade for Machado but it's getting a little late in the offseason for that to be likely now. I would imagine the window with Cleveland closes pretty fast in the next couple of days.
  11. Why??? See below. Exactly. What good does it do for Stearns not to appear satisfied at the moment? All it would do is raise prices and agents/owners would smell desperation. This was the only move.
  12. Ironically, the best way to move Santana may be for the Twins to sign Darvish.
  13. I would RATHER Stearns respond in the way he did.
  14. Just to clarify Cain has "multiple" four-year offers. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/01/lorenzo-cain-rumors-four-year-offers.html
  15. The free-agent market is like a house of cards right now swaying in the wind. Something big's gonna happen in the next 24 hours. Maybe not necessarily with the Brewers but teams want to get this stuff done to organize for ST. It's amazing how many names are still out there.
  16. It IS the least of their worries. But it's the only avenue we have to cost-effective starting pitching. Unless we ante-up.
  17. How many times has Yelich posted a 30/30 season? Heck how many times has he even done one of those? Brinson is also far and away the superior defender. If Brinson can make enough contact to hit 270-280, he'll be light years ahead of Yelich and a legit superstar. Bolded for effect. Also, it's not how many times Yelich has gone 30/30. It's the amount of times he's had 170+ hit seasons already.
  18. I've been following this thread since page one and out of all the scenarios this one seems the most likely to me at this point.
  19. Actually says OF for a SP "or" a 2B. Now that link is gone.
  20. I like this concept. All of this is very subjective, but I definitely agree there's a difference between being one of the 32 best SPs, & that elite tier of SPs that are the real difference-makers come postseason time. For me, prime Nelson isn't close to prime Sheets. And I like Nelson. It's not close. Sheets' 2004 season is a case-in-point. He was an ace that season. It may be the best losing season of any pitcher in history. For me an ace K's 200, pitches 200IP, and keeps his walks down. There are exceptions to this but I differentiate and ace from a #1. There are five or six "aces" in baseball in my opinion.
  21. Cubs aren't interested because of the Lester and Heyward contracts already on their books, and they plan to go after Harper when he becomes available. Then there is the huge money it will take to keep Rizzo and Bryant in a few years. And Shohei Otani. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-cubs-shohei-ohtani-20171129-story.html
  22. This is not necessarily true.
  23. I have to say I scoffed, I exited this thread, and came back as I admit this is starting to grow on me too. Besides a bad stretch in late April/May he was pretty good the rest of the year. The fan base would be excited or it's at least something supplemental you could market around. K/IP in the playoffs too and just under in August/September. I'd only feel comfortable on a one-year though.
  24. Please stop saying "not even an ace". Please. There are like six aces in baseball.
