  1. I believe it is a Covid reference.
  2. Are we all prepared for the Rhys Hoskins 2-3 with a home run return today and then a full month of controversy over at bats at 1b?
  3. As others have said, if we can get through the Toronto series while the Cubs play the SkySox and ONLY give up a game in the standings that would be a win. Great first step tonight.
  4. Take this for what it's worth ... but for the last week+ or so every game I have thought "yeah we got this one" we have lost and every game where I haven't felt great we have pulled out with about a 90% accuracy... .. and I don't have a good feeling about this one. Bet accordingly.
  5. .. and we are off! Quick work in the 1st for JQ. Taking 3 of 4 would be a great series. Let's make it happen... Turang hitting clean up at any point this season was not on my 2025 bingo card...
  6. New strategy. Top of the order: Lockridge, Perkins, Collins. Pitcher will be at a minimum of 30 pitches after the 1st and somewhere around 90 after the 4th. We might not score for 4 innings but we will be into every team's bullpen by the 5th.
  7. I read this and thought ... 'man, this dude never seems to have anything good to say.' So I went and looked, you've posted like 11000 times in the last few weeks and the ONLY positive thing you said about anything that wasn't tongue in cheek was complimenting the umpires for being relatively mistake free the last few games. Everything else is doomsday. We suck, Megill sucks, pitching sucks, "what's the point of following this team anymore", Seigler sucks, Bauers sucks, "how many games up are we on the wild card?", etc. I'm also now giving you credit for saying something nice about Hall. I'm not actually saying you are doing anything wrong by the way. People can be fans however they choose. I'm actually impressed.
  8. The psychology of fandom is fascinating. I'm pretty sure that Yelich could hit home runs in 10 consecutive at bats, but if he struck out swinging in the 11th at bat you could go to the IGT and there would be half a dozen comments immediately talking about how he can't lay off of that pitch or he needs a break or we're not going to be able to trust him in the playoffs, etc
  9. For reference I believe we have only 6 days off during that same stretch this year. I will say that September next year is all "local" relatively speaking ... PA/Balt being the longest flights. Not like this year where we are all over the country still in Sept. Not sure if that is a win or not but it is something.
  10. Just checked the 2024 magic number thread.. on 8/26/24 we were posting '21s' .. we were 75-55 on that date. We are 82-50 now but with the Cubs strong season we sit on #26 entering the day.
  11. Alright Mona, many many here ... myself included ... wanted you replaced at the deadline. I am at the dinner table with knife and fork so willing to eat the crow you are preparing. Salt, butter, and medium here if you would please. Serve it up.
  12. You mean when you clicked on this thread and were expecting to talk about the game and not have to read through 4 pages of one person standing on a soap box about a topic that has been hashed out 26 times before? That's on you I think.
  13. We have had this same conversation about whether or not to be a fan of Willy Adames once every 8 weeks since he left and it is always 99% of the board on one side and one specific guy on the other. Can we drop this one? This has stopped being a useful topic long ago.
  14. There is a reasonable argument that if we had Chourio this series we would have won three and maybe four games... And we were in Chicago. A home series in Milwaukee we actually are feeling really good about right now.
  15. Aww.... Feels good to win but there are a lot of friends here who have been on vacation for about 8 weeks who have reappeared in the last 48 hours that I'm going to miss.
  16. Is it fair to say that you assuming Siegler and his .200ish batting average would have gotten a hit is optimistic?
  17. You obviously have never been to Curry Boys BBQ..
  18. Yeah Caissie kind of had a coming out moment yesterday for them against us. "I'll be seeing you" if you will. He looks to be a player. I know Miz already faced them once ... but it being a relatively pivotal game, for him to puff his chest out and kind of stake claim to the division himself would be symbolic in a few ways. I'm hoping for it.
