  1. To be fair they have been really good this year in those spots. The name "Team Sac Fly" hasn't been given to them without reason...
  2. You know... I thought of this during the Washington series and I was just reminded watching Collins AB right there (for the wrong reason this time)... The Brewers have so FEW at bats that are not competitive, Ortiz aside. Yelich oddly enough seems like he has the most after Joey. I have no idea how to quantify or qualify this observation but we just don't seem overwhelmed at the plate by anyone, ever. Even Siegler, who isn't picking up hits .... it feels like he battles himself into a 2-2 count all the time and then makes decent contact. I dunno, I could be wrong.
  3. winning in multiple ways. the confidence in this club just slowly builds and builds..
  4. It's not the opinion that is the issue, it is everyone else "knowing better" than a successful FO that is the issue. I've been on record and I remain on record hoping we would have/will upgrade both Bauers and Mona. But the Brewers have earned the right to be right, imho. So if Arnold didn't think the price to get a backup IF was worth the ask and/or was an upgrade to Mona, etc ... then I believe him! We have no idea how the negotiations went... so how can we all be sure we did it wrong? We will see how it pans out and who ends up being right in the end. Since the deadline has passed Mona has made us all look silly. Just really funny to me how many people already know the answers to questions that have not yet been asked. Not getting Castro might end up costing us a World Series, who knows. Maybe not getting him ends up winning us a World Series. Who knows. "Man I wish we had gotten another infielder" is worlds away from "Arnold failed and doesn't care".
  5. Yeah but the Giants are going for it obviously so I'm sure their fans are cool with it.
  6. "We had a chance to improve" = "we had a chance to add a name I have heard of" Imagine walking up on an artist painting a stunning mural in your town. Something bigger and more beautiful than anything your town had ever seen up to that point... and having the irrational confidence to go tap them on the shoulder to suggest some edits because you use to do water colors in the 6th grade.
  7. Folks in the Fox Valley - just a note, the TRats only have 12 remaining home games on the season as hard as that is to believe. If Made and Pena show out at all, they have a good chance to start next year in AA ... so you have 2 remaining six game home stands to get out and see them!
  8. Truly, there will be a point pretty soon where an opposing GM will call us asking about a trade just to hear the names that we are interested in so that they can lock those guys up to long-term deals.
  9. Wait so Lockridge is a ballplayer? Who would have thunk it. Where are all of our friends from deadline day anyway? I miss them.
  10. We definitely do not need to get into this argument again for the 300th time this year... But I will never understand the "championship or I'm unhappy" mindset. It is fully possible to both enjoy any and all success in the regular season and then also be disappointed in end of year results. This team is so fun and my summer has been so enjoyable so far. I feel bad for those who are hand wringing right now because they are anticipating an NLCS collapse that they can't enjoy these days.
  11. Little side quest to monitor... If Logan Henderson exceeds 45 days on the major league roster this year he loses his rookie status next year. I'm assuming this is a one day and done scenario... but let's see. I want the draft pick for his ROTY win next year ;)
  12. That would be slick, but I wonder how often you would get away with it. After a 2nd time where a lefty reliever gets pulled from a game but doesn't go on the IL? Is that when eyebrows raise?
  13. I thought the same thing immediately. He would miss today against the Nationals and then a home game against the Mets... then would be eligible to come back on 8/15 against the Reds. But if they held him back one more rotation through beyond that he would be returning for the Cubs series. I'm not calling shenanigans but this seems strategic.
  14. I guess this would be one way to manage his innings. Retroactive to 7/31.
  15. I do like the timing of the Burke call up. He has struggled here as of late but otherwise had smashed Midwest League pitching. A call up here should rejuvenate his focus and if he has a good showing, puts him in a potential spot to be in Nashville next year and one step away from helping the big league team. Pulling for him. Also, it does seem that opens the door wide open for Fischer to start in Appleton.
