  1. I was very suprised and excited when I heard about the signing. This could potentially be a huge move, I think the people that don't like the pick up will change their minds after a few weeks of the season.
  2. It'll be weird seeing him pitch for another team. I'm thankful for what he did for the Brewers, when healthy he was a bull on the mound and always gave his best effort. He will always be one of my favorite Brewers. With that said, I wouldn't have given him $10 million, that is quite a lot to risk on a pitcher that just missed the whole previous season. I'll be rooting for him and hoping that he ends up being our CC at the deadline this year.
  3. I think that might be a bit of an overreaction. There could be several factors why he didn't get playing time in the winter league, like they didn't want to switch catchers that far into the season, or something else we dont' know about. From all the firsthand reports from Coach, it sounds like his main goal was to get healthy and improve on his speed/quickness. I just hope Angel is healthy, so we can see what he can do in a full season.
  4. I agree TooLiveBrew, I'm really hoping that Gerut plays a big role this season, he has been very good a couple of different seasons in his career. If he plays anywhere close to his 08' season he will get a lot of Ab's. I also don't think Edmonds can really play CF at this point in his career.
  5. I think part of the reason Stackhouse was signed is to help teach the younger guys how to play the game the right way. It worked w/ Kukoc when he was at the tail end of his career, maybe Stack will work out in a similar way. I guarantee he has a lot of basketball wisdom to share w/ the guys like Meeks, Jennings and LRMAM.
  6. It's not what I would've done, I would have much rather seen us sign a d-league player like Morris Almond, or just let Jodie Meeks take more minutes at the 2 guard. Overall though, its not that big of a deal, hopefully this means less minutes for Charlie Bell and Carlos Delfino. Maybe they're hoping Stackhouse will bring a few more casual NBA fans out to the BC?
  7. I think thats a possibility. I still hope that they are looking into a Suppan for Meche trade, we would probably have to throw in a prospect and/or some money. I also think that if we do acquire another starter, a Suppan for Kerry Wood deal would make sense. I think he still has another year remaining on his contract, and they are looking to rebuild.
  8. I agree w/ Invader and TooLiveBrew, I have zero interest in Eric Byrnes. There are atleast 10 guys still out there that I would rather sign.
  9. The Brewers have signed Norris Hopper to a minor league deal, could be some competition for the 5th OF spot or just minor league depth. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/01/brewers-sign-norris-hopper.html
  10. I like that Bo is starting Taylor, Hughes and Bohannon together, but I can't stand that he continues to start Tim Jarmusz. He has to be one of my least favorite players of all time.I really try to watch closely to see if I'm missing something, but each time I get more and more frustrated that he plays as much as he does. I think he has to switch to either Evans or Bruesewitz. Very impressive win last night, Trevon really turned it on in the 2nd half. I like that Bohannon is starting to take a more aggresive approach on the offensive end.
  11. I think Jennings is more of a passing point guard than scoring guard, he really knows how to run an offense.
  12. I hope Bogut isn't traded, he's definitely a starting center on a contending team, and I believe one of the best centers in the league and is only 25 or 26 years old. I hope Hammond builds around Jennings, Bogut and Ersan. I would make anybody else available. I think Ridnour has to have a lot of value w/ the way he's played this season, and Warrick probably has some value also. I really hope that Skiles starts giving the young guys like LRMAM, Meeks and Ersan more playing time instead of Bell, Delfino and the other guys who are most likely not long term pieces. I think Hammond needs to stop thinking about the 8th spot in the east and start looking more towards building a strong young core of players.
  13. Nate, his expiring contract will probably have value next year because 80% of it is probably going to be covered by insurance. So I don't think a buyout really makes sense.
  14. I'd rather have Wolf than Piniero + Garland/Washburn. Even though I think that Piniero + Garland/Washburn will make more per year than Wolf, so to me its not really a valid comparison.
  15. So they will be on the hook for most of his salary this season, and they will only start collecting insurance 41 games from now, right? What are the odds that he tries to make another comeback next season?
  16. Redd is out for the season w/ a torn ACL and MCL.
  17. I just read a blog post at jsonline, and it said that Capuano is almost back up to his old velocity and expects to compete for a big league job in spring training. This could be big news for the Brewers, I'd also be very happy for Capuano. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/81070542.html
  18. Another win by the Bucks against the Bulls last night. Also, the first sellout at the BC for the season, and it sounded like it was very loud which was good to see. It was an intense game that was very entertaining. Bogut was an absolute beast w/ 27 points 13 rebounds and 6 blocks, Michael Redd and Hakim Warrick also had very good games.
  19. I think Heether has also played a decent amount of LF. I would let Heether and Hernan battle it out in spring training, unless we don't sign anybody else then I think they both make the roster. I think they both can play a little in the OF.
  20. I think the best one is Hoopshype, I heard an interview w/ John Hammond the Bucks GM and he says he check that site. Also RealGm.com has some good info on the forums.
  21. According to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com he has agreed to sign with Astros pending a physical. This could be a very good under the radar signing. However, I'm not a big fan of Brett Myers, mostly because of his domestic abuse issues, so I'm glad he didn't sign w/ the Brewers.
  22. I was looking at the list of free agents still available, and I noticed that there are still a lot of very valuable bats out there. I think our bench is looking ok right now, but still could use a nice veteran bat that can play mulitple positions and also provide some power off the bench. Some of the names I was looking at were Fernando Tatis, Aubrey Huff, Melvin Mora, Marcus Thames, Johnny Gomes, Jerry Hairston, possibly Hank Blalock and Rocco Baldelli. These guys have all been productive players and could play a big role on next seasons team. After doing research on all of these guys I came to the conclusion that I would love to see Fernando Tatis be the man to fill the last bench spot. Here's what I like about him: - Plays multiple positions, LF, 2b, 3b ,and plays better D than most others on list - Plays well as starter or substitute/ph - Hits both RHP and LHP - From what I've heard, he's a good teammate - Probably will cost less than most of the other guys - Has some power and OBP skills Others I like out of the list, Johnny Gomes, Aubrey Huff and Marcus Thames. Who does everybody else like, or do you think it should just go to a Catalanatto (veteran minimum) or a Iribarren/Heether type?
  23. I agree Homer, I was very impressed by MSU last night, I thought they played outstanding.
  24. I meant to say if Duensing is the main player in the deal I will be dissapointed. He has had some rough AAA numbers in both 08' and 09', and I don't see him as a being a future #2 or #3. I think he will end up being a reliever or #5 starter.
  25. I agree w/ JohnBriggs, if we only got Duensing for Gamel I'd be very dissapointed.
