    I'm sure that Melvin wants a #1 or #2 even more than us fans do, since his job probably depends on it, but I think acquiring one is easier said than done. That said, I think he is trying very hard to shore up the pitching this off-season, and I have faith that he will do just that.

    Jennings was on fire in the first quarter, and then Skiles kept him out until 7 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, didn't really make sense to me. Great win tonight, they are definitely more deep than last season.

    I have no problem w/ signing him to a cheap contract, but hopefully he isn't one of the 2 starters that Melvin was talking about.

    I think its laughable that Salome is not in the top 10. I think his upside is way higher than people are giving him credit for, and he has produced at every level.

    Do they have 3 way deals in baseball? I can't remember one off the top of my head. Anyways, I hope we don't have to give up Gamel, but I'm very interested in both Morrow and Jackson

    Wow thats awesome. I always thought NBA games were a very underrated live sporting event. What broker did you go through?

    I really like the signing. He has hit at every level, and has shown some power and plate patience. Could be a very good pickup.

    Good pickup, had a very good 2008 season in AAA Pawtucket as a 25 year old, and has pretty much hit at every level.

    I agree Nate, Clint Everts would also be a good guy to gamble on.

    Hopefully Redd can fit in and be a good 3rd option after Bogut and Jennings. If that could happen and he stays healthy I think we are a much better team.

    I'd like to sign Octavio Dotel as our setup guy.

    I would take a look at Humberto Sanchez from the Yankees. He was once a top prospect, and should now be fully recovered after his tommy john surgery a couple of years ago.

    He had a 4.42 Era in 08' and a 3.62 ERA in '09, and he averages 95 mph per fastball, and has a great slider and will only be 26 years old. I'm not sure why Bill James would project him to be .30 points worse on his ERA for next season. I understand his BABIP might go up, but I would be willing to gamble that he would be a good #2 or #3 starter for the next 2 seasons for the Brewers.

    I'd be happy w/ Edwin Jackson. He really took a step forward last year, especially in the first half of the season. He started to slip in August and September, but I'd be willing to take a chance on him. He has huge potential, and is only 25, I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

    The Knicks already traded next years pick to Utah, so they are pretty much screwed.

    I disagree, I think that the addition of Lackey would make them into a serious playoff contender. I would put Lackey and Gallardo up w/ the top of any rotation in the league.

    What a great game last night. I thought besides Jennings and Bogut, Ersan and LRMAM also played very well. I really hope this team is for real.

    I would love to acquire Cole Hamels, but I don't think it's realistic. I'm sure you'd have to give up a lot more than Gamel, and I don't think Philly will make him available.

    These are the direct quotes from Melvin. "It depends what they're asking for," said Melvin, who prepared to head home Wednesday after the annual general managers meetings wrapped up. "I don't know if it could fit or not. I might have to make some other moves to make it fit."

    He hasn't yet, but he has played a lot of LF, so I'm guessing he could.

    I agree HTR, any lineup w/ Braun and Fielder in the middle will most likely score a lot of runs. I'm much more worried about the pitching.

    I would love for the Brewers to get Smoltz, I know they went after him last off-season. I hope the two guys we sign are Smoltz and Randy Wolf. I think they are going to be the two biggest starting pitching values on the FA market.

    He is a pitcher that I remember the Brewers were interested in last season. He is a type A free agent, so we would have to give up our 2nd round pick. I expect him to get a 3-4 year deal at 10 million a year(just guessing). Do you think he's worth it. Looking at his stats over the last year and a half, I think he is a very valuable pitcher, and would love it if the Brewers signed him.
