  1. I like the idea of getting Lindstrom from the Marlins, he sounds like a good buy low candidate. I really hope that Melvin is looking to get at least one more good bullpen guy, there seems to be a lot available this off-season.
  2. Melvin has stated that he is still open to signing Looper later in the off-season, take that for what its worth. Although, I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that.
  3. It's funny how fast people give up on players when they have a few bad games (Bogut), he is probably playing through an injury and is going to struggle for a while, he will be fine. I don't want to see him traded, he is very important to the Bucks. Didn't you say that Ilyasova was no good after a few games too?
  4. Looking at his AAA stats from last season, he seems like he has a nice speed/power combo, although he does strike out a lot. He also had 14 triples. I like the signing, I think he could potentially make the roster as a 5th outfielder.
  5. Just in case you missed it, here are the World Cup draws for this coming summer. Group A: South Africa, Uruguay, Mexico, France Group B: Argentina, Greece, Nigeria, South Korea; Group C: Algeria, England, Slovenia, United States Group D: Australia, Germany, Ghana, Serbia Group E: Cameroon, Denmark, Japan, Netherlands; Group F: Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia; Group G: Brazil, Ivory Coast, North Korea, Portugal; Group H: Chile, Honduras, Spain, Switzerland. I think U.S got a decent draw, although Slovenia was very good in qualifying, and England is always very strong. I absolutely can't wait for this to start, its easily my favorite sporting event .
  6. Based on what Nate? All I've heard is TH saying that he has a feeling that the Brewers will sign Mulder.
  7. Very convincing John Briggs, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on any of them, but I will also go w/ Duchsherer.
  8. nate82, I don't think Narveson has been guaranteed anything for next season. Although, if he pitches like he did at the end of the season in spring training he could win a job. I think we will have to wait and see how many pitchers Melvin brings in before declaring him a definite 25 man roster guy.
  9. On MLBtraderumors.com it says that the Royals are going to make Gil Meche and David DeJesus available. Meche had a down year last year, and had some shoulder issues, but in the 2 prior years he was very good. He has two years and 24 million left on his contract, so what would it take to get him. Also DeJesus gets brought up ten times each off-season so I won't even mention anything else about him.
  10. I like Polanco, but I think the Phillies could have done better at 3rd w/ Beltre, DeRosa and Figgins still out there. Plus 3/18 is a lot for Polanco.
  11. Apparantly the Brewers are looking for help at 3 positions SP, C, and MI depth. I assume we will make a run at keeping Counsell, but just in case he leaves, who else is out there to fill his role? One option that would be ok w/ me is Jerry Hairston Jr. I really like him because of his speed, occasional power, and ability to play every postion besides pitcher and catcher, he also hits both lefties and righties almost equally well. Some other names of FA's out there are Bobby Crosby, Khalil Greene, Adam Kennedy, Jamey Carrol and Juan Uribe.
  12. I have to say, I was actually excited about getting the "Tractor" at the time, I thought the clips of the akward German guy were hillarious and was relieved we weren't getting him.
  13. I am willing to bet that Melvin has contacted the Jays about Halladay. I wouldn't put too much stock into what the media says, I think 99% of it is all speculation at this point. I would love to see Melvin get a horse like Halladay or Josh Johnson to anchor our rotation, I think it would take a lot of pressure off of Gallardo.
  14. I would have liked to get Shoppach, but now I'm hoping we can get Navarro from the Rays, or just sign him if he's not tendered a contract.
  15. I think it will take more money than that, I predict that it will take at least 10 million a season.
  16. Wolf wasn't offered arbitration for some reason, so now it wouldn't cost a 2nd round pick. I really hope the Brewers get him, but this will probably make him more expensive.
  17. I've always liked Jermaine Dye, but from what I've heard he is terrible in RF. Maybe a switch to full time LF would work for him?
  18. LRMAM is not a free agent after this season, he still has one season left. Great win by the Bucks last night, Bogut played really well, we are such a better team w/ him around.
  19. They still have one scholarship remaining for next season.
  20. I would love to see Smoltz sign w/ the Brewers. I know Melvin was interested in him last off-season, so I would imagine he is probably still interested.
  21. Marquette played awesome today and beat #15 Michigan by 14 points. Jimmy Butler and Lazar Hayward looked like star players and Darius Johnson-Odom is also a really good player. I think they are going to surprise some people this season.
  22. What else did he say, would you mind giving a little recap?
  23. I don't see any way that the Brewers will go after Figgins, they are set at 3b, and Figgins will cost a lot of money. If they do spend money on a position player I think it will be at catcher.
  24. Coach, I would like to thank you for the first hand updates of Angel's off-season. I appreciate everything you add to this site and always look forward to your posts. I really like the optimism, and love that you truly believe in one of your former players.
  25. I like the Halama signing, and am glad that Capuano is back. I never give up on a guy like Cappy that works as hard as he does, I'm really hoping he can add some velocity and contribute to the Brewers next season. On the Brewers.com article about the signing, it mentions Halama is 4-2 w/ a 1.64 ERA and only 3 bb's in 44 innings so far in the Dominican Winter League. Hopefully he can be another suprise veteran like Burba and Helling next season.
