  1. I would not give up Gamel to get Lowe, if we are trading Gamel I think we could do a lot better, maybe one of the big chips in a Halladay or Josh Johnson deal. Kelvin Escobar hasn't pitched in the last 2 seasons, there is no way he is getting 8-12 million. Although I would love to see DM take a chance on one of the guys coming back on an incentive laden deal, either Sheets, Webb, Bedard, Escobar or Duchscherer. I believe we will get at least one pitcher through a trade of Hardy/Hart. I also think we will sign one mid-tier free agent, I would like to see that guy be John Smoltz, but think it will be more along the lines of Doug Davis.
  2. I would be ok w/ bringing in Olivo on a one year deal, but I wouldn't pay him 4-5 million on a muliyear deal w/ Lucroy and Salome coming up. I think I'd rather just see Salome and Lucroy fight it out for the starting job in spring training, and have the other one sent to AAA. Then have either Mike Rivera, or a Hank Blanco type back up brought in.
  3. I hope that Gamel isn't traded this off-season, and I don't think he will unless we get great value on him. I do however think that McGehee has earned a starting role next season. I was very impressed by him, and think that he might have figured "it" out, and will be more of the player he was last season than what his minor league stats indicate. I also think it is very important that the Brewers do not trade Gamel, just in case McGehee reverts back to the guy w/ a career .741 minor league OPS. I think Gamel would benefit from more time at AAA, a still will be a very good MLB player.
  4. It would be nice to have our closer spot filled before the off-season, one less thing to do. I'm very happy w/ Hoffman.
  5. I agree Joepepsi, Lackey would be at the least our co #1 pitcher if we signed him. I think he is going to get a large contract from someone.
  6. If that is all the Mets would give up for Fielder than I'm 99.9% sure that the Mets will not be getting him. The only reason the Brewers would trade Fielder is to get top shelf starting pitching.
  7. I'm hoping the Brewers make a run at John Lackey, but think they will go after Doug Davis, which I guess is ok w/ me. Part of me also want them to go after Rich Harden, but I think he'll end up getting more than he should w/ his injury history. Having all of these former aces coming back from injury (Sheets, Escobar, Webb, Bedard, Duchscherer) make me hope that we take a chance on at least on of them.
  8. If he wants to come back, you have to sign him. It doesn't make sense to not have a good closer just because we don't have enough starters. It would just cause more problems w/ our pitching staff.

  11. I wouldn't mind going after Morrow and Aumont from Seattle, they both had down years but have huge upside. However I'm not sure if they are just going to go w/ Jack Wilson next season. Another team I wouldn't rule out is Toronto, Scutaro is a free agent and I could see them making a run at Hardy. They have a lot of pitchers w/ injury issues, but always seem to have a number of good young pitchers.
  12. Why is that? The kids that play in the Arizona league are usually just getting out of high school and getting there first taste of professional baseball, and a lot of them are hight draft picks . Why would you think that people should only be excited about the top 5?
  13. IMO we should just keep both of them. Its been a very, very long time since we've had a decent offensive MLB catcher, and I'm willing to gamble that one of these two will eventually change that. They may have to be creative in where to place them, but I don't see it as a problem. I would probably just tell them in spring training that they are both considered equal prospects, and let them battle it out for where they go. Hopefully one of them steps up and makes the MLB roster next season.
  14. I guess I'd be more comfortable seeing him as the 4th outfielder, but I definitely want him back for next season. I think if we don't re-sign Cameron, a guy like Ankiel or Marlon Byrd will be brought in, which I'm ok with.
  15. I don't think he's the answer, although I don't mind him as a backup catcher. I really hope the Brewers are able to find someone to upgrade the catching position this off-season. It's too bad that Angel Salome didn't step up and earn the position for 10'.
  16. I'm not a big fan of Cub fans in general, but Wrigley Field is my favorite ballpark. I have been going to games there, usually 1 or 2 a season for about 15 years and I still get excited every time I get down there.
  17. I don't think that the Bucks consider Michael Redd a long term piece of this roster. If he stays healthy, I could see him traded before the deadline this season. I think they are building around Bogut and Jennings right now.
  18. Can you imagine the fan reaction if Melvin made that trade? I don't think there is any way that Melvin would do that. Yes, they are all good prospects, but none have had big league success, and Fielder is one of the best hitters in all of baseball.
  19. I don't think it is a foregone conclusion at all, I think after how well he's performed that there is a good chance he'll be back. I'm sure he would rather play everyday at 1 position, but the fact that he can play 2B, SS, 3B and Corner Outfield makes me want to bring him back even more. Also, last time Rickie had the same wrist injury it took him a long time to fully recover, so having Lopez as insurance would be ideal.
  20. I think an offer w/ Gamel and Hardy might peak their interest, I definitely wouldn't trade Prince for him. I think I'd rather just re-sign Cameron, or sign Ankiel as a free agent and use Hardy and maybe Gamel to upgrade our pitching.
  21. I'm not sure how you can put Lackey/Escobar and Washburn in the same category. Kelvim Escobar, besides 5 innings this year, hasn't pitched since the 07' season, and might never be healthy again. Washburn hasn't been good up until this season, and has been absolutely terrible (7.33 era) since being traded to Detroit. IMO Lackey is head and shoulders above either one of these guys and will demand a lot of money.
  22. Delfino has a 3 year deal, where the 2nd year is partially guaranteed and the 3rd year is a team option. Ukic has a player option for the 10'-11' season.
  23. They shut him down to preserve his arm for next year.
  24. I will go w/ Adam Heether for hitter of the year, he was unbelievable, a .902 OPS while playing 7 different positions! As for pitching, I think it will go to either Butler or Anundsen.
  25. I think he's gone but I hope they match that offer, he would still be an asset at that price. If they do match, you'd think Ridnour would be traded.
