  1. From everything I've heard Laporta has looked very good in his transition to the outfield, I think that both Laporta and Gamel are both close to big league ready and could become very good middle of the order hitters. I would not give up either one for a few months of Sabathia. I would rather see them target a pitcher w/ a few years left on his contract like Greinke.
  2. Has anybody seen him play recently, I'd like to know how he looks behind the plate. Is defense the reason why he doesn't get much national media attention as a top player, he has hit well at every level.
  3. I think its fair to say that after 200 ab's w/ a .962 OPS, as a 22 year old catcher in AA, that Angel Salome has to be considered one of the best catching prospects in all of baseball. Should he be moved up to AAA this season? His defense is not bad, but could be improved, he is throwing out runners at a 25% clip, and has only 7 passed balls. If he keeps playing at this level could he be our starting catcher at some point next season? I would like to know from people who have seen him play recently, how close he really is to becoming the Brewers catcher?
  4. This is why I love brewerfan.net! Thanks you everybody for all of the wonderful feedback, now I can show my wife a great time, and earn another Brewers away trip. BTW, I'm not so sure what I meant by a rib place w/ a good atmosphere, I guess I was just trying to sound cool?
  5. My wife and I are heading to the twin cities on the 28th and 29th, staying in Minneapolis until Monday, and we are going to the games on Sat. and Sun. She is a Brewer fan, but I think most of the reason she goes on these trips is because she knows how much I love the Brewers. To repay her for her kindness, I would like to make this a great weekend for her, so my question for those living in or familiar with the area are: 1. Since she loves music, what are a couple of good places to see live music? I looked up a couple of places, and Dr. Mambos Combo is playing at Bunkers, and Sheila E is playing at Dakotas(very expensive). Has anyone been to either one of these establishments, or do you have other recommendations. She is into bluegrass, reggae, r&B type stuff. 2. Do you know of any restaraunts that are romantic/laid back type places that aren't super expensive? And on the opposite end, a good ribs place that we could have a beer at w/ good atmosphere. 3. Does anybody else have any other things that they might recommend, that might be fun for a couple to do? I appreciate any feedback I could get.
  6. I will be there on Saturday and Sunday, does anybody have any suggestions on which tickets are the best deal? I'm looking in the 25-30 dollar range.
  7. I think you might be undervaluing what it would take to get Francis, Snell and on a lesser scale Meche. I think it would take at least a top 5 prospect and a player for either one.
  8. After seeing the picks, and their video and scouting reports I have to say I'm impressed w/ most of the picks. My favorite pick is Odorizzi, and not far behind was Lintz. Both seem to have very clean deliveries, and absolutely dominated at their high schools. I also like what I saw of Maverick Lasker. Lawrie seems like a very confident guy, and from what I hear has the ability to back it up. I hope he can stick at catcher. I'm very excited about this young man. I couldn't find any video of Jose Duran, but he has some very nice stats, and was the Big 12 player of the year last year. That can't be a bad thing. Does anybody know anything more about him? I wasn't overly impressed by any of the other guys video, but how much can you really see in 2 minutes of footage.
  9. I thought I remember seeing reports of the Dodgers being interested in Hall in the off-season. What about trading him in some sort of package for Penny or Lowe, or maybe even Andy Laroche? Or how about to the White Sox in a package for Vazquez. How much value does Hall actually have?
  10. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but IMO it seems pretty clear that he really wants out. Thats too bad, I really like Billy Hall, and think he is a big part of the Brewers.
  11. Not really though, it is considered the Super Bowl of soccer all around the world. Its all of the best players from around the world on the best teams from the best leagues in Europe in one giant Champions league. I'm sure enough people care about it in the United States for it to merit an update.
  12. I'm not sure if there are any other soccer fans/players out there on this site, but I just want to point out how sick I am about hearing how much people in the media hate soccer. For example, yesterday I was driving home, excited about watching the replay of the Champions League Final, and I was listening to Heller and Murphy, I hear them saying how nobody cares about soccer, and they shouldn't be giving updates on things like how Manchester United beat Chelsea. Does the non soccer liking media realize that a ton of people actually do love the sport? I'm not sure if they just don't want the game to get big in America, or if there jealous that it is considered the most popular sport in the world, but I am so sick of it. Does anyone else feel this way?
  13. I was fairly disappointed when I first heard we have the 8th pick, but after looking further into the draft prospects, I think the Bucks are going to get a very good player at the 8 slot. I think one of Anthony Randolph, Gordon, and Westbrook will be available, and they could all be very good NBA players. I also like Augustin, Gallinari and Alexander a lot, the draft seems to be deeper than I first thought.
  14. I don't know, I didn't really see Haislip play in college, but I don't think he had any basketball smarts at all. I've seen Joe Alexander take over games offensively, he seems like he will be an all around player, unlike Haislip. I would also like to see them move down a couple slots if available to get him.
  15. Ok, I'm in an NL only 5x5 keeper league, and I was offered John Bowker and Chris Marrero for Ryan Freel. At first I was very hesitant, but I think Bowker might stay up, and be a decent major league player, judging by his 22 HR 90 RBI season at AA as a 23 year old. Should I do this trade?
  16. The more I hear about Joe Alexander the more I would like him as our pick. He is a 6-8 SF w/ crazy athletic ability. Seems like a good shot blocker, and great all around player. I've seen him play a couple of games, and he seems like a great competitor, and a very confident player. He has also only played organized ball for 5 years, so his upside is huge.
  17. Yi is a PF. If we get one of the top 2, I would want Beasley to fill our SF role. I think a front line of Bogut, Yi, and Beasley would be very good for years to come. I also like Brook Lopez and from what I hear Anthony Randolph is going to be a stud. I like Augustine, but don't like the height issue. I like him as a PG better than Bayless or Westbrook.
  18. I listen to the show every now and then, usually when nothing good is on. It is fairly entertaining sometimes, but usually comes across as a show where the hosts aren't very knowledgeable, and they pretend to get worked up over small things. Now after ripping BF.net for no reason, I will not listen to the show anymore, even when nothing else is on.
  19. Someone actually asked Witrado about it in his recent mailbag on jsonline, and this was his reply: Q: Justin of Fond du Lac - with gallardo out and our rotation in flux would it be out of line trading someone like laporta and gamel to the giants form lincecum the giants are deseperately in need of hitting and our rotation would be dominant next year and very good this year A: Anthony Witrado - Two things, I doubt the Brewers would trade one of those young hitters and I doubt the Giants would trade a pitcher who they see as their future.
  20. No, this is what Anthony Witrado said in his recent mailbag on jsonline: Q: Justin of Fond du Lac - with gallardo out and our rotation in flux would it be out of line trading someone like laporta and gamel to the giants form lincecum the giants are deseperately in need of hitting and our rotation would be dominant next year and very good this year A: Anthony Witrado - Two things, I doubt the Brewers would trade one of those young hitters and I doubt the Giants would trade a pitcher who they see as their future.
  21. Do you guys think I sould sell high right now on Edinson Volquez and Scott Olsen, its a NL only 5x5 keeper league, and I have these guys for really cheap. Do they really have potential to be ace type pitchers?
  22. I think if Rich Harden is healthy he is an ace and will be available, but he is a huge injury question mark.
  23. It doesn't matter the statue is now fixed and has the apostrophe. We ended up going to Mullens, and it was very empty but they had good bloody marys/
  24. I was at the game and sat right next to the Brewers bullpen, and w/ 2 outs in the 9th I saw Hamel pick up the bullpen phone and he told Turnbow to warm up, and before getting up Riske got the last out. I thought that was kind of weird.
